  1. My poor baby looks pitiful But he is running soooo good...words cant even describe how he is running now
  2. Jeszek.. I am doing a full restoration of it. Cause its not as nice in person as it is in pictures. I want the car to be about as perfect as you can get. The rest of its life with me is going to be going to car shows and occasional fun drives. I want it to be an excellent example of them. Plus they are incredibly rare ..especially on the east coast. I want to preserve the car for many many years to come. getting all the hidden places where gunk likes to hide and rust out parts etc. If all goes as planned it will look better once it is finished then it did when new.
  3. Tom.. the real problem with the 3at is the fact its a dog...compaired to the 5 spd ..or even the 4eat..its just a slow lumbering transmission. If you havent driven one with the 5 spd then you wouldnt know...but after driving one 5 spd for 4 years ..and another for 2 years ( my 88 GL and of course the Buckster) the ATs just seem terribly slow.... even the 4EAT in my Gen2 lego just seems lumbering sometimes. Plus when you take it offroad..that D/R will really help. But dont swap it out until that one goes...or unless you find a super good deal one one. Car still looks great!
  4. did ya have it in this deep?? hehehehe.. this is why we move our ECUs up high and off the floor. Nice job..glad you had fun
  5. Having owned an XT6 and used it for a Daily Driver.. I am on par with GD. Good for a weekender project car..but if you dont have easy access to spare parts..not a good daily driver. There are some easy mods to get rid of some of the most expensive failures..such as the air ride suspension...swap to coil overs.... replacement brushes for the power steering and the Cybrid fluid shows up sometimes on ebay and even some dealers have some old stock laying around. It depends what your plans are for it really. Mine was a money pit..and it was a low mileage motor ( 30K motor 170K mile car) spent more time broke down then being driven. They are a super fun car to drive though..I will give them that. Not fast but the fun factor is way up on the scale.
  6. Small update...went out this morning and a couple pumps of the gas pedal and vroom vroom!! Yay!! real test will be when its really cold... temp at that time was 71. going to be in the low 50s when I get home from work..will try again then. Seems my whole problem was just some dirt in the carb. Hard to believe that it made that much of a difference.
  7. That Brat is looking fantastic! .. I am lovin the camo stripe.. Nice work. Would love to see this in person. ( bring it to my cookout on the 25th?? hehehe I am 2 and a half hours from Harrys)
  8. Starting this week I would like to get a food list going to see whats going to be here and what needs to be gotten. Today we were gathering up some firewood for my small firepit..so we will be roasting marshmallows etc. 2 weeks to go. njdrsubaru said he was going to come up next weekend to help me get things together so there will be less stress later.
  9. You know..in reality..this looks like its going to be pretty small...maybe 10 people?
  10. First off.. welcome to the board...second that Brat you pictured is a board members and was taken at our East Coast Carlisle Import Show. The EA81s are really easy to work on..I mean seriously easy. And there is more then enough knowledge on this board to get you through any problem that you will ever have. The carb issue is a relatively easy fix... swap a weber onto it...its easy enough for even beginners. Plenty of write ups on how to do it here also. There is nothing on that Brat you cant do yourself. We all will suggest getting yourself a copy of "How To Keep Your Subaru Alive" ..lots to learn there. The price seems good considering how the price of them is skyrocketing. You are lucky to be where you are cause there are tons of board members in your area.
  11. Looks great Tom :banana: glad you finally got it together. I have been toying with the idea of selling/trading my Legacy for a lifted EA82 wagon. Just like the looks of the EA82s better. Yea..you really need that D/R 5 spd in there now. So then it will be really able to do what you are building it to do.
  12. Thanks so much Jerry. All I can say is WOW! with the new motor from subaru360 and the weber you worked...my little coupe hauls!! I never thought it would ever run this good. It sounds fantastic too ( new exhaust from Y pipe back) Now if I can get it to look as good as it runs...hehehehehe Hoping to make a few people :slobber::slobber: when its done. OK right now I am loving my coupe again
  13. Than ks... I wish the car wasnt as torn apart as it is now... I really want to drive it. This is killing me. It was classic cruise day today and everywhere we went ...another classic. I want mine out there too!!..I remember early last year..before discovering the head gasket failure.. taking my coupe out on cruise days...and getting the waves and thumbs up from the other foreign classic owners. I just hope I can come up with the money to get it in the shop this fall/winter. I dont think I can deal with another year without my coupe on the road.
  14. Put it back on my coupe and after priming the lines...and a small mishap with a battery terminal ( note to self..my battery disconnect sucked...broke in half just by twisting it on the terminal..lucky me had spare terminals laying around) My coupe fired right up WITHOUT starter fluid!! Jerry DeMoss does it again!! Thank you so much for fixing my weber!!! OK I need to go turn the coupe around ...its purring like a kitten right now too!!:D:D:burnout:
  15. Bring your partner along:) I wish I would have taken my walk around the dealer earlier on Monday while I had my Imp in the shop. I know my sales guy would have let me take the 2010 out. Bring along an extra airfreshner ( same one for Blu ) and rub it all over you before Blu sees...he will never know. My sales guy was saying that the new CVT tranny so unbelievably smooth. Now I am not a fan of any AT tranny ( but that is a well known fact) but I am still curious about it. I know I cant stand the AT thats in the new Imprezas..happy mines a 5 spd. Thats my main thing..I want to see how that CVT is.
  16. actually..except for cargo space in the back..my Imp is actually roomier for passangers then my legacy. See.... if you would come to my cookout I would let you try it out? ( still wishing you could make it)
  17. I agree with nipper. Tell me this then.. why does my 08 Impreza..which is actually the same size roughly as my 95 lego and has a 2.5 instead of the 2.2 get better gas mileage?? I mean seriously.. I get 25-27mpg out of the lego..yet my roomier more powerful Impreza I can get easily 32-34? I have seen the new OB up close..and its actually a nice car..its taller ( it was parked beside an Impreza sedan so I didnt take notice to length) Its alittle too big for my tastes but it still is nice... If I would have had more time I would have taken it out for a test drive.
  18. hey... at any of my gatherings..either something or someone usually goes up in flames
  19. real bummer Dave.. was hoping that you could be the pyromaniac and set fire to something.
  20. well..putting that sealer stuff in it was the wrong thing to do..clogs the whole system. Wouldnt be too suprised if you blew a head gasket on it. sounds alot like it ..but maybe not. first thing you should do is flush the system..then make sure you get all the air from the system ( burping it). did you put an OEM T stat in? Subes are partial to OEM ones and have troubles with aftermarket. The Radiators on yours are prone to clogging also... feel the radiator for hot and cold spots...also make sure you dont have a hose collapsing when its running... there is a start for you..
  21. Its totally obvious that Brats will win..thats a no brainer there. Y'all know I voted for EA81 coupe.
  22. I bought a $39 one from Amazon and it works great. and its small enough to be kept in the door pocket. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001LHVOVK/ref=ox_ya_oh_product
  23. you should look over in Nasioc http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/index.php more people dealing with the new car issues there then here I havent had any problems with my 08 that I will own 2 years come Nov..and 38K miles now
  24. sounds like the AT loaner car I had... mine is a 5 spd and I dont have that problem...must be something with the ATs. keep on the dealer about it..even if they have to keep it for a day or 2
  25. The only way it would be a loose spare is if they forgot to install the shadow box. the new ones have everything nice and secure form fitted into a shodow box made of styrofoam.
