  1. Gee..I have been driving my Loyale for 3 years with TOD..Its very common and normal for these cars. And it doesnt hurt anything..you will probably do more damage redlining it then just letting them quiet up by driving it normally..BTW.How long did it sit? Did you change the oil and filter yet? Mine startsto tick bad after about the 4th month on the oil ( I dont put many miles an my car...just changed my oil ..last time done was in Sept and it just hit the 3000 mile mark). Try that simple fix first before getting all .."Its going to the junk yard";)
  2. These older Subarus are pretty tough...the only way you are going to eat your steering wheel is if you are in a serious head on..or you arent wearing your seat belt..plain and simple..and if you are wearing your seatbelt and are in a serious head on ..hard enough for you to still eat your steering wheel ..even an airbag isnt going to help you much..A perfect example on how tough these cars are is the one girl here on the board had a BEAUTIFUL Gen1 brat..got broadsided or something...rolled a few times..Brat was totalled..she is still with us..and if you saw the pics of the Brat you couldnt understand how she survived. Airbags are a pain..and if you ever have one go off...if the car is repairable its costs a fortune to replace.
  3. OK so we on for Aug 5th...cool!! Great I guess now I should do some yard work:brow: ..Looks like a mini MX track right now ( We have kinda been "playing" with the bikes in the yard...when someone asks I say we are "airating" the lawn). Bring whatever you guys want just let me know so I can plan around...going to do the usual burgers,dogs,sausages....maybe we can sweet talk Dave into flaming bananas and her wonder corn;) ;) Let me know what you guys want to drink etc. Directions are pretty simple: 84 east to exit 7 north ( RT7 to New Milford,Brookfield) 4.7 miles you will come to a light...turn right..you will still be on RT7/202..7.2 miles...this is alot of single lane, construction mess and can sometimes have small delays...road will widen again and you will pass a Home Depot...then it will narrow again ..when it widens again (there will be a liquor store on your right) stay in right lane. On the right is a crappy Chrysler Dealer..just past the dealer turn right and go across the big grey bridge (Bridge Street). Immediately on the other side of the bridge ,turn left onto Youngs Field Road..road will run parallel to the river.( there are ball fields and kinda a industrial park on the road) At first stop sign (just past Agway) turn right onto Aspetuck Ridge Road. Go 1.3 miles to number 174 on right (Blue Ranch House on the corner of Aspetuck and Sand).Basicall you will pass a tennis court on the left..then some construction on the left.. then start looking on the right...I am just past a good turn. I have big numbers on my mail box but I will put something out at the road .
  4. There used to be a product you could get at the major auto parts stores called "Black Again" It had a black dye in it and helps turn those greying areas back to black..you usually could get a good month before you would have to reapply. I used it religiously on my VW Karman Ghia and my old Mustangs. I think its still on the market
  5. I have a new set of hubcaps coming soon and have always wanted some rims...I took the old hubs off after bending a rim and chucking one a few weeks ago. And you are right about the cost to live in a nice neighborhood..y'all wonder why I say I have no money?? I will trade any of ya my $2200+ a month morgage:brow: The bike in tha garage is my 1986 Honda XR200R..there is also my fiances 86 Suzuki DR200 in there. I just got the XR after being on a 3 year absence of one.Just got that running and am in the process of redoing it..this winter I will do a frame up restore.
  6. Thanks You operose..it is a nice area honestly..we have probably the worst house in the neighborhood ..Everything around us in 500-600K houses..but the people are cool..the police commish lives across the street and the people behind us are awesome..no one complains when we are riding the dirt bikes in the yard..Shame is housing market prices here are high..too high..bad when your "cheap" house is 295K. Heres another pic with the house.
  7. Getting Bucky ready to show Sat at Marcus Dairy in Danbury...since as of right now he is the only old school car outta 60+ going to be there I feel he has to be as nice as possible. What do you guys think??? Rory did a amazing job on the rear quarters and the rockers which were pretty well rotted. Anyway...Here's my Bucky!
  8. OK so when do we want to button up the Turbo wagon?? This weekend is out for both of us...you going to PA and me Sat with Marcus dairy. Next weekend looks OK here. Let me know what you need me to bring ..lets Git-R-Done!
  9. 196,000+ mile Loyale wagon FWD 5 Spd...34 stop and go...43 Highway:banana: but I have been told I baby it too much..has only seen 4000+ RPMs 2 times and its cause I was pissed and was lighting them up:burnout:
  10. Bumpity Bump...BTW Just talked to Rory...we are up too around 70 cars for this..I am still the only Old School with the Loyale..its OK though..I will represent
  11. Right now I am waiting on Melis and Dave to see if this date is good for them..If it is its an all clear..As soon as I hear something I will figure something out....You guys have to see the awesome job Rory did on my rear quarters on Bucky..That man is my new GOD LOL.
  12. OK going to toss up a date and see what happens since no one else is giving me any dates to work with..this doesnt work then I will just trash the whole idea this year cause I have a wedding to be planning in the next 2 months. Aug 5th..thats 3 weeks see how that goes
  13. as I appear out of the Older Gen forum...My fiance has a 2001 Toyota truck..its a great truck honestly...but I personally find it uncomfortable...a gas hog..rides terrible..noisy..but it has 140,000 on it and basically it has been dependable to him...he is a carpenter who puts on average 75-100+ miles a day. But it has been expensive to repair..I can pull out the reciept for the sensor repairs last year....has about 5-6 sensors go bad..$2000+ at the dealer ...he refused to let me look into it ..he is puter guy I am car girl. I have looked at the Rav4 and it isnt bad ...but I cant see spending that kind of money...I will personally stick to my non-interference,low compression,80 hp...43+ mpg EA82..cheap,easy to repair..OH and mine is just shy of 200,000 miles..mechanically solid (motor)..would drive it cross country.
  14. I think we have it narrowed down to ignition switch ...grounds tested good (under the hood) fueables tested fine..I still put a new terminal onn the ground to battery cable and rechecked connection at the started.. I may just see if my mechanic friend can just by-pass the whole ignition switch and hook it up to a toggle switch:grin: Heck I leave my keys in it all the time anyway so why not make it easier to steal Y'all know there is a high demand for 196,000 mile FWD Loyales. I may be looking into another GLF right now..If something like that goes through I will be fine cause I wont lose work over car problems
  15. I am waiting for y'all to toss up some dates ..I am easy to work with...
  16. I bought my Loyale 3 years ago for $600...yes it has been pretty much trouble free except for the past year..I have done new timing belts, clutch, new seals and gaskets, rebuilt the oil pump and who can remember what else...here is the deal..I dont have the money that 90% of the people on this board have to fix the car.The history of this wagon is...it was first a fleet car...then a personal car then it was used as the loaner car for a dealership..then another dealership got it and used it for the same thing..loaner...then I bought it. Now for the other thing...my fiance is a car idiot (admittingly) he doesnt have a clue..his truck breaks it goes to the dealer...I never admit to knowing everything..nor will I ever ..but I am just sick of doing it myself while others stand around and watch..I want to be able to just drop it off and say fix it and send me the bill.. ok enough rant
  17. Thanks Ed but there is alot more going on with my wagon besides its new electrical issues...and its like this...turn the key ..have power..turn it to start possition..click dead nothing no juice anywhere. Its a bad connection somewhere..not a big deal...but when you toss in the fact that the car needs rotors, brakes, still needs a new throw out bearing, exhaust work, rear brake or hub work on the one side, front end shakes like crazy..the AC over heats the car, only 2 settings on the switches work,no radio (due to previous electrical gremlin)...and the rust ..Its just time to let it go. As for my local network...most have seemed to abandoned me since I moved...no longer super easy to get too. Rory is about it honestly. But its ok.. I will deal with it..as my fiance says all the time...I'll figure it out.
  18. Thanks Cougar...I am getting ready to move the dirt bike out and bring the POCr....Car into the garage and dig into things...Just need to keep it going for 2 more days ..then it goes to my friends garage.
  19. I am going to bump this up for Rory..considering he called me when I got off work to make sure the car started ..Bumping to the top..update..around 50-60 cars going to be there. Right now it looks like I will be the only one representing the old school stuff though...Going to be a fun time!! Hate to see you semi locals miss it.
  20. I am about to give up on this thing..but can't afford another car so I have absolutely no choice but to fix it...But my rockin friend Rory ( him and his wife are the bestest) might be taking it friday or over the weekend and looking into it...and fixing some rust..and looking into my seriously messed up front end. Still...anyone want a cheap Loyale?????
  21. well...terminals isnt the problem...car wouldnt start tis morning either....too me 15 minutes of playing to get it going...now thinking its the ground to body connection...who knows...Like I said ...its like:horse: .....Anyone want a 92 Loyale wagon 5 spd...cheap?????
  22. Rory it isnt your fault...anyway...I appreciate you guys coming out and playing with my bike.. BTW..sent the money out for the CDI ign box yesterday. Hope that does it. One of these days if I ever have anything else to drive I will drop off my Loyale at your place and let you do whatever you want...just need something else to run so you can take your time..I always feel like I rush you. But still think you rock!
  23. LMAO...I am just trying to get the last 4000 miles out of it so that if it dies it at least made it to 200,000. I feel like doing anything to this car anymore is like:horse:
