  1. ..I Love my Loyale I Love my Loyale...I am trying to still Love my Loyale...grrrrrrrrr....car starts fine this morning....go to leave work and dead! dead dead dead!! Nothing no clicks no whines..nothing....OK so I wiggle my ignition switch...get alittle buzz here and there but still no start. OK I am thinking dead battery..but how??? Its only about a year old...I bought it when I had the 82 GLF so I didnt have to switch all the time. So lucky enough one of my friends at work was still there and gave me a jump....Bucky starts right up....charging at above 12volts like normal....hummm this is strange..OK maybe its just a flook thing. Get home..turn off the car (like an idiot..before closing the windows..der!!)..try and restart it...dead!! this time it wont stop giving me this horrible "I am going to die" whine...jump out and disconnect the battery...Anyway..take the battery to where I bought it..tests good...great...Alt?? Starter??? OK stupid...lets try something simple.... Why not just try and replace the terminals....ding ding ding..we have a winner!!!!!...so even though it was somethign stpid...I am getting tired of this.... I need to win the lottery so I can get a newer Subaru...this Loyale is driving me nuts!!!!! I love my Loyale ........sometimes!
  2. I may come down ...all depends on what mood the wagon is in.
  3. I am just testing the waters here....Time for my yearly CT Subaru Cookout. I moved and now have a large yard...large house..private parking..and a garage....sure beats that tiny tiny studio apt...no parking and no yard. Granted I am not as easily accessable as I was back in Danbury but I am still very very easy to find here in New Milford.I am roughly 1/2 hour north of my old place... So does anyone want to do this??? Or should I just put it on the back burner till next year. ( I am feeling no love from my old crew already:-\ ) So if ya'll want me to have one lets toss up some dates....if not let me know.

If I could afford a new one I surely would in a heartbeat...but I would always want to keep an oldie around..they have too much character..and you can never mistake it for someone elses in a parking lot (since here I have one of the few Loyale wagons)
  5. This is a pretty cool thread...kinda ran into the same thing at work a few weeks ago...My boss just bought a 2006 Impreza....plain Jane 4 door. Now besides the fact he is a bigot and a jerk ( yes I am serious..he is a racist bigot)...he knows I am the Subaru junkie at work and started to brag and get inmy face about how much better his brand new Imp is compaired to my 14 y/o 196,000 mile Loyale. ( yeah like you can compair the 2 ) My basic reaction was..come back and tell me this when yours is as old as mine. But he kept saying how much better his is cause it AWD ( der!!) and (this killed me ..I so had to keep from busting out laughing) came with a CD player:lol: ....I was like ...ummm dude..I have a CD player in mine too...actually a 300 watt system with subs ( ok I didnt say it hasnt worked in months)...so that was his first slap in the face. Then I got him with the gas mileage thing...he gets around 23-25 mpg .....I get 40+.. My nest thing to say was...I can work on mine myself....can u? and he said no cause he doesnt know how to work on cars...As much as I dislike this man....which is enough to make me find another job...I gave him some pointers and sent him on his bursted bubble little way. I agree..trying to compair a brand new car to a 14+year old one is like compairing apples to oranges.
  6. Hey nothing wrong with those old Loyales....My 92 FWD 5 Spd has been with me for 3 years...not bad for a $600 car. I personally dont care what people think about it. All my friends have new/newer Dodge Trucks or whatevers and would NEVER be seen as even a passenger in my wagon. But I sure do like to laugh at all of them at the gas pumps....these FWD 5 spd Loyales can easily get 40+ miles to the gallon. Oh ..and just so you know...you CAN haul your refridgerator in them....You are lucky yours isnt white like mine...cause it looks like a fridge then!
  7. My vote is the exhaust leak...loose bolts...My Loyale sounds the same way...started again in less then 2 weeks after the 2nd fix ( new exhaust gaskets too) I am just learning to live with it cause I dont care anymore..not putting any more time or money into mine..just trying to get the last 4000 miles out of it so it can be retired with 200,000 miles on it
  8. "Jonesville Rd?? then cross over.....1st left...under highway take left...?" Paulyburger..it should be Jonestown Road....LOL..oh great! Havent been away from that area long enough...still remember street names..Now that you said that I think I know exactly where you are going...too bad I already obligated myself to work at the Animal Shelter today to cover an event or I would help ya out... Give me a call later though..I HAVE to work on Bucky tomorrow and may need some help ( rear brake hub thingy) and havent seen ya in awhile and wanted to invite you up to the house to see it...and I can possible store some stuff for ya in the basement if ya like. Talk soon:burnout:
  9. See I am slow...Paulyburger..those pics of Lucky look gorgous...OH! Thats right it was right after I washed and waxed her;) ..and thats my beloved Bucky behind her...and Jessies Brat....OK we need to have another cook out soon!Great! Now I miss Lucky and I have room for her...hint hint OH!! Congrats on 78..I am jealous..I miss having my project car:(
  10. I really like the Blue over Black..nice touch.....hey I got some rust for ya to fix if you like:brow: ..Looks Good!!
  11. I think $800 is way to high...even $500 to me...considering my 92 Loyale FWD 5 Spd...was bought 3 years ago from a dealer for $600 and it was near perfect..much higher miles (162,000 when I got it) but it was running, inspected, smogged....no dents just 2 tiny little rust spots. IMO parts cars...you should never lose any money on..if you just want the motor...you can find EA82s for $50-$150 for a good runner. Body panels..no problems on this board.. To spend $500 for a parts car...strip a few items you need off of and try and sell the rest sometimes is hard... And a low mileage engine is great...but there are down falls to them also. Moosens and me are very very aware of these:lol: . A low mileage engine many times means it has spent most of its life sitting..sitting is bad...dry rot to belts seals etc, small furries make homes in them and chew wires..etc etc. Just remember this...I got my 82 GLF coupe with 32,000 original miles for a hair over $300. And that car wasnt going to be used as a parts car
  12. The truck stops also have fantastic breakfasts..dont know if All-American is still there but they used to have terrific SOS. Damn I miss PA....normal people and normal/good food.
  13. Its ok Dave...not a biggy...I am so far out of the way now it isnt as easy to get to my house... If I got this right here is the deal...Andrew and Paul are coming together...I was not needed as an extra driver and I just dont trust driving my Loyale that far and back with his "iffies" that he has. I only have one car and if he goes down I am F%$@*&d. I also really dont have the money anyway. I probably wouldnt be good company anyhow....been in such a funk cant find fun in anything anymore. Oh and Ben.....you are probably right...but you know I am from down there...grew up in Middletown and then spent at least 10 years on Perry County.....Someday I will be able to make a trip down....when money and vehicle condition improve
  14. Well it looks like I am out...so send me pictures guys! Have a blast!!!!
  15. Its OK Paul...There is no way Tommy can do any dropping off since he isnt getting home from work till around 7 and then to turn back around and go down that way. Its no biggy..honestly...I dont really have the money to spend a weekend away from home now..so its not a big deal anyway if I dont go. Like I mentioned..I really am not needed.. I dont really trust taking Buck that far away anyway right now. Hope you all have fun and I want to see pictures!!!!
  16. I desided to show Bucky some love today with a good cleaning out of the inside..some armour all..cleaned the windows..fixed some rust on the front fender and did some repainting....Still want to wash him and do all the black trim and tires. After talking to Paulyburger..now I am thinking on taking Bucky to Carlisle tomorrow.... What do ya'll think??/ Is there any other Loyales representing from our club? Paul said we will fix Bucks exhaust while we are there...so now I am thinking.....should I??? shouldnt I??? I mean Andrews Father is going so honestly I am not needed as an extra driver...Tommy says I need to go cause I havent had any real fun in a long time.....opinions opinions.... Oh!! if this all sounds dumb its cause of :drunk:
  17. Paulyburger.... I can sleep about anywhere....in a car and I have a couple tents so whatever is worked outwith you guys
  18. I talked to Melis this morning and if there is room...I can bring 2 tents....a 2 man and a 7 man tent. I was going to bring the 2 man for myself but Melis may want to barrow our 7 man which we just water proofed in Sept before we went on a camping trip
  19. So I just talked to Paul and Andrew and looks like we will be heading down Friday night. I have a small 2 man tent, sleeping bag and also a large tent if needed...Let me know if you guys ( that means any of you) need me to try and bring anything .....I will be bringing down Andrews Justy so just remember that .
  20. Just tried to call ya and got your voice mail. Oh thats my old home town so I know some places to eat..and drink
  21. Thanks Paulyburger... Rory called me at lunch today and is going to look at the exhaust again and maybe work on some of the rust issues. I am also in negotiations with someone about an awesome Impreza.....but I cant get my hopes up..we all know how that goes.
  22. I know Bucky isnt worth much..being FWD and all..but he is just getting to be alittle to much for me right now...not saying he is a bad car...cause he has been about as reliable as they come..but I just cant keep up with him right now and drive him every day. The bad: Exhaust gasket keeps blowing through leaks from the oil pan,one valve cover, and a cam seal Oil seapage from one of the head gaskets needs tires and brakes are spongy sometimes and has typical North eastern rust around rear (front is near perfect) Just getting an idea...OH!! 195,000 miles
  23. I dont know if this can be done..but if we need to...I think Bucky should be able to make it there and back:confused: ..I dont know if you can transfer registration to another owners car. Just give me enough heads up to clean him up...if ya'll want to do that...or I could put a Subaru sticker on Tommys truck...LOL Just a thought and an offer:)
  24. I was told years and years ago buy a Subaru Guru that younever never ever add any form of stp leak to a Subaru motor...causes alot more problems.Clogs things up that shouldnt be clogged. I agree with GeneralDisorder.. fix the problems right if you can't live with alittle ticking and marking of territory. And even them it doesnt guarentee that it will completely fix the problem...I just rebuilt my oil pump and resealed the motor on my EA82 back in Sept...well just Sunday while it was getting an exhaust issue looked at my friend tells me my right side cam seal is leaking both valve covers are leaking..the oil pan in leaking and now I have oil seapage from my one head gasket. And the ticking never went away BTW...but it does stop after about 10 minutes. These cars will run almost forever with oil dripping and HLAs ticking.Think about the oil leaks this way........rust preventative. My mechanic friend (who has owned 34 Subarus and he is around 33 y/o)said the front half of my Loyale underneith is mint..no rust..now the very back where the oil didnt get flung is another story:lol: . Flush that leak stopper out!!Before it does more damage then it benefits
