  1. I was thinking about you Jeszek when I heard about the quake...and was alittle worried when I didnt see you here for a couple days. Cant help with the brakes but wanted to say that I am happy you and everyone is OK.
  2. Bill...let me check with backwoodsboy..he has the part number apps. Your parts hatch wouldnt have a good black trim piece that goes the length of the bumper would it??? I am going out to get some pics for my personal records of the progress.
  3. Turns out the back bumper is totally toast...very very little I can salvage...one dampener strut and one guard and the end caps...the rest is garbage...so I am going to get desperate to find another strut ( can only come from sedans or coupes UGH!) and the trim piece that goes across the length of it..the black strip. Talked to moosens and he believes ha has the guards..and thanks to Shawn W I have a new chrome center section. But the project to trudging along...slowly but surely. Have to find out if backwoodsboy and darlingchip are still coming next week to look into my electrical. I am really starting to think this is insane...us girls arent supposed to be doing to much of this right??
  4. And dont forget...where I am Neo is too....OMG poor poor Rob
  5. Ed.. Shawn W is hookin me up on a new bumper...just looking for new struts for it. I put on the new muffler a few weeks ago..I also extended the tail pipe a slight bit longer to be past the bumper. I is fixing the rust that is inside the trunk ...but that doesnt have to be a pretty repair since it will be covered. I have another estimate for $4500 for the body repair and paint. Russ till I pay to ship that car back there then back here..I might as well spend the $10 K..hehehehe . It would be cheaper to just ship you Rob and Briggs here
  6. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&hl=en&geocode=&saddr=&daddr=39.740722,-74.726086&mra=mi&mrsp=0&sz=15&sll=39.745144,-74.716988&sspn=0.02455,0.038495&ie=UTF8&z=15 That should be it yummmmmmm red clay! ( I is such a dirty girl)
  7. I can toss up a date of June 20th??? as a starting point? I can only do Sats ..cause of work.:-\. But lets see who else chimes in.
  8. Lets get one planned!!! I am jonesin for another romp in the mud. My legacy is starting to look too clesan...and I want to try out her new tranny cooler. For the Noobs....this is in the Pine Barrens of New Jersey. Lots of mud and fun..and the most beautiful red clay you will ever see. and a little Vid to explain more of the fun:
  9. I still find it funny how things have changed...when I bought my 08 2.5i back in Nov of 07 all I heard was how ugly the car was and how aweful the STi was going to look. Congrats and welcome to the darkside..I been here almost 2 years now. Just watch your rotors..they are having problems with them warping easy.
  10. I already have a new bumper coming but I need to use my corner moldings and trim and guards..its just the new chrome center section. Sorry.
  11. Steve..the $10K involved media blasting the entire chassis..repairing the door and fender and every other little imperfection. shooting custom paint in every possible area..thats why he wants it a rolling chassis..no motor tranny interior wiring harnesses etc
  12. Pulled the other taillight and the rear bumper...the one damper( strut or whatever you want to call it ) is in very bad rusty shape but the rest is sweet. I am putting a new one on my list of parts needed> this impressed me..I figured it would be rusty cause that is where the worst was on the damper but its clean!:
  13. I dont know what to do ..I want my coupe to look better then the day it came off the boat...and I want it done right so it lasts and turns more heads then it already does. Even the restorer cant think back to the last time he saw one ..let alone one as nice as mine. But ..I would have to rob a bank
  14. I just stopped at an auto restorer and got a rough estimate ...now they do incredible work ..but we are talking about $10K if I deliver them a rolling chassis...but that could change once he comes out and inspects the car once its stripped down. It is so what i want ...but I dont know if I can swing that. But LB would be truely amazing
  15. I do ..cause unlike the west coast..we can only count on one hand the number of coupes left in the North East. And for a show car who cares if its FWD or 4WD. even if it was 4WD I would never use it cause the car stays in the garage and never sees snow.:rolleyes:
  16. Thanks Shawn.. I am hoping to keep the momentum going now over the summer....once again..my goal is to have it ready to go to the body shop by the winter..I am debating on some things...like my rear bumper is rusty by the exhaust pipe... do I want to rechrome it ..or try and find a replacement? I HAVE to keep this car...I remember it took me almost 4 years to find it after letting go of my 82 GLF which I have always regretted. But after the Carlisle show and seeing that 83 Prelude restored to stock original ..and the attention..it made me want my coupe even more.. you get so much more compliments and small talk at shows with restored stock ..I have always said that. I want to get an estimate from a local classic restoration shop for the body and paint work..A place called Big Als Toybox..they specialize in restoration etc. extremely nice work
  17. I didnt do the rear Disk Swap today..but I did start doing restore work. Working around the trunk area first...treated the rust in the trunk with the new product I am trying by KBS Coatings. I restained the wood slats in my trunk rack and sealed them ( nice and shiny now) Pulled the Drivers side tail light ..took it apart and cleaned and tried to make it look as good as new ...but I need to find new taillight gaskets for both sides...and new reverse light sockets( pigtails) I pulled the metal filler bezel that goes between the bumper and the body..straightened it and coated the underside with Rust Bullet..I will spray the top side probably tomorrow. I want to pull the PS tail light also tomorrow and clean it up. I figure if I work from the back of the car front I cant get frustrated with the mechanicals right now. I have started a list of needs: 1. Rear tail light gaskets 2. Reverse Light Sockets 3. The trim inside the trunk along the back with clips 4. Trunk Carpet mat So there is the start. Here are a couple pics. .. I will just keep linking to photobucket for bandwidth sake of the board. http://s50.photobucket.com/albums/f335/Bucky92/LBsRestore/
  18. I think my husband stopped asking why..and just accepts it. I looked at a 93 Loyale yesterday but its a weeee bit rustier then I want and I have enough projects right now. Thinking on starting my rear disk brake swap today on the coupe...its nice and warm and ...hehehehehehe ...it should be so easy since the coupe has so little rust. and I am wondering...I have a perfect grill ..and a perfect honeycomb grill..keep the original grill or swap to the honeycomb one?? I like them both. I have already blacked out the pealing old chrome on the headlight bezels. ( If you havent noticed..I am getting into seriously restoring the car )
  19. the RX is considered a 3 door and comparing it to your Talon is like comparing apples to oranges..its a completely different animal. The EA82T is overly prone to HG failure and adding more boost without making some major changes will increase that chance even more. Turbone is one of the few who have successfully done it ..but that is with a CCR newly rebuilt motor and many other mods and changes.
  20. UPS and I have always gotten my stuff quick... I LOVE Rock Auto. They have even called me when a part I ordered wasnt available and asked if they could substitute..Excellent customer service IMO
  21. I get most of my stuff from Rock Auto... they handle felpro and Beck Arnley .. I have even gotten OEM seals from them ( I believe my coupes rear main ands something else was OEM)
  22. So I drove the coupe out of the garage yesterday ..thought he needed to see some light and get some fresh air. Took him for a spirited romp around the block to stretch his legs and then gave him a bath. He did have basically a years worth of dust on him. I did alittle bit of testing and I believe the current alt I am running is now toast...when testing the voltage on the battery while running it is 12.03 yet when turned off and the alt disconnected it was 12.54. Going to swap back in my other one( the higher output 90 amp instead of the 60 amp) ..If that one does the same I just dont want tp spend money on another just to have whatever it is in the car blow it out. I also started trying out the new product for rust ..on a spot inside the trunk...where the trunk rack had leaked and it rusted out the floor. Figured this place will be hidden if I can ever find a coupe truck carpet or something I like to replace it that looks era specific. So far I like the product. Its time consuming but I am seeing some results with just the prep factor... I am going to put the sealer on today. I tried on LBs new car cover and it fits perfect. Cleaned out the garage and tucked him into a corner nicely. I sware sometimes you forget how small these things are. He looks itty bitty next to the Legacy and the Impreza. I was going to play with him some more put got side tracked with the dirtbikes, trying to get them primed and running for the year See.. LB tucks in there nicely and now I feel much better that he is covered..already got some scratches from passers by:
  23. I am happy you are still happy with it. I really like the handling also..has a bit of body roll but not to bad...if you want to stiffen that some the Pink Springs are the trick ( I am still planning on getting them sometime). Its still the best handling Subaru I have owned ( sorry XT6 people..but it so outhandles them). I took mine to Carlisle PA last weekend..close to 600 miles round trip and avg 31.9 mpg. A trick I found to keeping them clean is to clay bar it and put a good heavy coat of a good wax on...will be oober smooth and nothing will really stick to it for awhile. PLus it will shine like glass and be even nicer then the day you picked it up off the lot.
  24. BTW..if time allows this weekend I am planning on doing the rear disk swap on the coupe..and like stated before...next weekend backwoodsboy is coming to take a look into the electrical problem. I have to keep looking at this pic to remind myself what i have in the garage under a years worth of dust:
