  1.:lol::lol: Good one Ed...I was thinking the same thing as I was typing it.:grin: I just knew a Conklin comment would be made.
  2. Naaa.. I just hate automatics... but my replacement 4EAT was free sooo...but when it goes its a 5 spd swap. I will let you know once I try the rust killer stuff out..its a 3 stage ..after you sand you use the first product called aqua klean..it will help neutralize the rust. Then coat with Rust Blast and keep it wet for 30 minutes.. rinse with water..allow to completely dry the cover with the rust seal( 2-3 coats.) after a few hours you can then prime and/or paint to your color. But this stuff also comes in certain colors. I am not pushing the product ..I am trying it out cause it sounds very promising. www.KBS-Coatings.com
  3. Yes I did... I bought it some stuff at Carlisle...maybe as a peace offering or something....but I am showing my 83 GL-10 coupe a little bit of love. I got it a nice car cover for dust while in the garage and sun and bird and light rain protection outside ...on the very rare cases it is outside. I also got a battery disconnect in case next weekend we cant finally figure out what the problem is ( backwoodsboy and darlingchip are coming down ). And I got something that looks like it may be a very promising alternative to POR-15 and Rust Bullet. Its actually a bit cheaper ..comes in colors ..and is paintable. Its a 3 stage process by a company called KBS coatings. Have quite a few very interesting products. As soon as I try it I will let you all know what I think.
  4. I agree with Matt... give it some time for things to cool down before anyone makes any hasty remarks. Matt has gone above and beyond doing what he has and deserves the respect of all of us in waiting for him to get his deposit back.
  5. My 95 shifts hard between first and second...mainly cold and on harder acceleration...If I go slow it is alot smoother. But thats hard for me to do since I usually drive 5speeds. I know as a fact the tranny that is in my Lego ( which is a used one from a friends car) hads always shifted a bit hard. fluid has been changed etc. It is my understanding that it is very common.
  6. Didnt get many ..but here is what i got ... I deleted any horrible pics of people http://s50.photobucket.com/albums/f335/Bucky92/Carlisle%202009/
  7. Back from the show...great seeing everyone again and meeting the new ones....we have adopted a Honda guy ..but he is way cool and not rice...has a beautiful restored 82 Prelude ..restored original. There was some excitement late last night that really ruined the mood..But I wont get into this at the moment. Didnt take many pictures but I will post some later.
  8. Many years ago ( at least thats how it feels) I blasted a big buck deer on the highway with my Justy. I was doing at least 65-70 at the time ..suprisingly..the Justy survived with a cracked grill and a dent in the hood. Turns out it leg sweeped the deer and then tossed it over the roof. BTW the derer ran off and I couldnt find him to see if he was hurt or not. Moral to the story...they are tough little cars. I miss mine sometimes. Glad you are ok and the Justy isnt too bad. Here a few years back a moose killed a woman. And they arent seen here usually.
  9. Congrats!!!..cant wait for the pics. I knew once you drove it ( or your wife) you would love it.
  10. Holly is packed and ready to go..just need to pack the cooler and hose her off quick ( damn wind knocked tree junk on her.. yay for claybar and wax cause nit will just hose off.) See everyone tomorrow
  11. Good luck! And I happen to love the looks too. I have caught myself numerous times just standing outside staring at my Holly thinking what a beautiful car she is. I am ANAL about her too..my poor husband had to use her for work for a week ( his toyota truck had a broken leaf spring and my beater car..95 legacy had a blown radiator) and he was paranoid that something would happen cause he knows I go over that car with a magnifying glass. Had blankets covering the interior cause he is a carpenter..poor guy. I took mine from CT to southern FL and I could easily drive 14 hours without any pain from the seats. She feels light and very nimble..handles 100X better then my XT6 and has been unstoppable in the snow.Like I said I just love the car and I highly recommend them. And so far my support from Subaru has been amazing. And I can bring up tons of negative feedback on the cars..and it only has to do with its looks. In fact when the style was first released I was one of the "haters" ..until I saw one in person ..and drove it.
  12.:grin::grin: yay!!! Mikey!! .. you know that SVX is going to be center attention...right along side subaru360s ..360
  13. They seem to always call for rain for Carlisle...didnt rain at all 2 years ago..and it only did it late sat night last year...I just checked the weather and its on a 30% chance. which is nothing. last year drove my craptastic leaky coupe 5 hours in downpours the whole way there...and it stopped when there...nice thing about the show sight..its along the mountains which many times divers the rain away
  14. I also love the labled jars...so you cant even be sure what exactly is in them...probably just colored water...and its obvious its not an independent test. Still havent seen enough to sell me. And I cant be doing it all wrong since our 2001 Toyota truck we have had since new and has 260K miles on it and runs like the day it was bought. Never any repairs to the motor..
  15. Thanks aba. I keep mine immaculately maintained and I think it shows. I personally dont need or even like luxury and have felt this car has been perfect in every way for me.. Plenty of passanger space..and its noce to not have wind noise coming from the windows..the frames help alot. Keep me informed...I want to know how it goes.
  16. Mine is still clean..but I havent driven her all week...so should just need a quick detail and be done
  17. I bought an 08 Impreza 5 door back in early Nov of 07... One of the first handful sold in my area... I LOVE it ..I LOVE everything about it. I have 38K miles on it and its has been flawless. The only car I have owned that I love more then my Impreza was my dear 92 Loyale wagon. Mine is the base model with a couple extras...so I cant answer your question about the 6 disk changer..since I am rigged up for Sat radio. I had an aux port installed in the center console. Car fits me like a glove and I enjoy every minute of driving it. Mine is a 5 spd and if you dont drive it like a jerk you can easily get 32+ mpg out of it. A side note though..there is alot of wind noise...especially if you have the roof rack system..sometimes a vibration will occure..its an easy fix...remove the rubber molding down the centers of the cross bars. Good Luck and Pics if you get it!! And who cares what people say about the looks..I think other models are ugly ..I just keep that to myself and they should be happy you are moving up into a new/er dependable car.
  18. You know..this guy is just really turning alot of people off to both him and the product. I have never seen anyone so "shove it down your throat" pushy about something. If our motors blow how is that effecting you??? its not ..so who cares right?? In fact I know of none that have blown motors due to poor lube caused by our oil degrading. And I have been on this board since 2004. I went through his old posts and saw him pushing the products before also. And if you look ..now he is trying to insult us ..check out his location " parked your subie" even after going to the links that OTHER people posted because the conklin pusher refuses to do them for himself..I havent seen anything that impresses me none.
  19. rtcaravan..no offence to you what so ever...but I think you should really stop trying to shove this product down peoples throats..You like it ..fine..great..happy day for you. We arent shoveing Seafoam or MMO and telling people they HAVE to use it. I am with Edrach... we are really loyal to the products that work for US.. ( Me its Subaru OWM filters or Wix or Purolator filters, Gastrol GTX oil and changes every 3000 miles ..and the use of Seafoam only when needed to stabalize gas..or to clean out the system..usually in the old higher mileage cars I buy to clean up POs neglect). IMO you keep coming off as a jerk about the matter. There is nothing wrong with suggesting a product..but your forceful plug for it it getting to be annoying. And that alone IMO will make me never even want to try it. And like mudduck said..if I have failure due to lack of lubrication..its going to be from me not checking it on my leakers.
  20. Matt claybar is pretty easy to use...the biggest most important part..is making sure you use a lubricant. and you have to follow us with a wax right away cause it strips out the old wax. Basically..kneed the clay bar and make it flat...spray on the lube ( which is usually nothing more then a spray detailer.) in small areas..rub the clay bar over the area you sprayed. YOu will feel the bar picking stuff up ..almost a resistance. when the bar moves smooth..wipe off the lube and go to the next area. Never use the bar on a dry spot. and kneed the bar frequently to work whatever you just pulled from the paint into the bar. Do the car in sections..like claybar the hood..wipe it clean..wax it...fender...door etc etc. If you want..I will show you how to do it friday. Its hard to explain for me but I would be more then happy to show you and help you bar your SVX.
  21. Depends Matt...if its oxidation..yes claybar will work on it..even if its embedded in the paint it will help. I used it on my craptastic coupe last year before the show and it brough that 26 year old paint back to a decent shine. It also works wonders for bugs and tar. Clay Bar makes the car look like glass...after you follow up with a good wax.: I think she is ready:
  22. Mikey ..they have spots close to our site where you can wash the car...they have about 8 hoses by the bathrooms. I am almost finished clay barring my Impreza right now...just have to do the roof, rims, and tires and she is done..will just need a quick detail later.
  23. ^^^ I second that notion.. Outback sports are great!!..I almost bought one when I got my 08 Imp.
