  1. I used to believe in the first year bugs thing too... but I bit the bullet and bought the 08 Impreza. I was one of the first handful of people to buy one in my area ( Now they are literally everywhere). I have had no complaints what so ever...bought mine early Nov 07 BTW...37K later its been wonderful. I think it also helps if you buy from a good dealer. Mine has been incredible. Finding one that is extremely good with super high customer satisfaction is key. Mine stands behind every little thing. Even when they messed something up they were prompt at admitting responsibility and fixing the problem. ( Caved in my one rocker panel on the lift)
  2. As stated on the previous page.. I already have a new suspension..and yes I will probably keep it FWD ..the car is a garage queen and will never see bad weather.
  3. I disconnected it and retested...didnt make a difference with the fan being connected or not
  4. UGH.. OK ..Lets see.... as for the new wiring..I added a brand new pig tail right after bringing the car to the east coast.( As I stated at least 3 times in this thread). But If I cant get somewhere by Carlisle with it ( 2 weeks) I have been thinking on going a different direction..instead of wasting all this money and getting nowhere...I might just bite the bullet and do the EJ driveline swap and be done with it...since the wiring harness seems to be already screwed. This is all just a thought.. I know someone semi local who knows how to do the wire harness and then we can do the analog swap and be done with it... This is just an idea I am toying with since EJ22 parts are a dime a dozen here and I can get a motor for under $100 and a tranny for the same. Neo and me were talking and said I can get almost everything for the swap for under $400 . And it wouldnt be such a chore to find parts.
  5. I a, with Ed..putting in the digi is not going to do anything...I ran that car for 6 -7 months without a dash in it..completely disconnected ..without and issue. This whole problem has been since the motor swap.
  6. Not messin with it any this weekend..going down to NJ to help Neo fix his Lego...I will most likely be stripping it after Carlisle and sending it to the crusher if no results. Been too much of a headache. $3500 into the dang thing and still have nothing to show..once again...another coupe I never got to enjoy. Not dumping any more money into it. I will never even see 1/16 of what I have in it back out. Tired of throwing $$$ away. Just 2 weekends ago I dumped another $100 into it for a new muffler and exhaust gaskets. My list of new parts in it is ridiculous .... gasket reseal kit ( for old motor including head gaskets) oil pump, water pump,weber carb and intake, roller bearings and low air filter set up, 2 sets of intake minifold gaskets, 3 sets of exhaust maniford gaskets, front and rear struts front and rear fuel filters, tune up parts, brand spanking new radiator and hoses, mid pipe, brand new muffler, new drivers side mirror,new clutch kit,new flywheel, new digi dash, dash surround, XT6 alt, new motor, oem t stat, oem oil filter, oem rad cap,have a brand spanking new set of side badges for it, parts for the analog swap,new ign switch, 2 new batteries and new key set...and thats all I can remember right now. Not to mention the $800 to have this worthless POS shipped here. And I got to drive it to work twice..once to Carlisle...and around town maybe twice..been sitting for 10 months now useless.
  7. wont know if the charge light comes on because the whole dash area looks like spaghetti and I dont have the digi in...and wont put it in until the electrical is fixed. And ..oon a side note....there hasnt been a dash in the car for 8 months and it ran and drove fine before...no issues.
  8. with plug undone and ign on...12.53v top still getting 0v from the bottom as for the resistance..with it unplugged I am getting 1.0 on both leads
  9. The car isnt even registered...its been sitting for nearly a year. FYI... the voltage on the top wire ( the thicker gauge) per cougars instructions reads at 11.45v with key on...bottom wire ( smaller gauge white with red stripe) reads at 0v. And for SNG..with key off and connector unplugged..upper wire reads at 12.63v..bottom at 0v.

  11. already reversed them with no change...so I put them back. That was suggested in an earlier post.I put the pig tail on right after I bought the car before ever blowing the original head gasket. Didnt have a problem with it with the original alt ..nor the XT6 alt when it was in the old motor.
  12. I always thought of Subarus as the same as Harleys...if they aint leaking oil...then they are out of it and something is wrong.
  13. I have 3 alts..one of which is a rebuilt never used and they have been tested... but whatever..I am done... forget it ..its going to the crusher..seems no one is really reading what I am saying..anyway.
  14. I dont believe its the alt..since I have swapped in others..Plus I did not have this problem at all before putting the new motor in.. I used the same alt set up I had on the old motor. Nothing at all has been changed except the motor. Everything else is the same..every part etc...The new motor was a bare bones long block...I added everything from the old one.
  15. Yea..I have swapped out the switch 3 times now :-\ giving up for the day..time for me to go to bed anyway
  16. nope..its still drawing from the alt..I unplugged the white connector and the volts on the battery jumped up to 12.57v..I sware I am going to pull this motor out again and try from square one
  17. Yes the battery is fine ..its brand new..been tested ..and has been sitting for 3 weeks out of the car... today is the first day its been put back in. It holds a charge except when hooked up to the car
  18. OK ..battery was tested at 12.68v 2 hours ago and is now down to 12.43v. should I be concerned or let it ride awhile longer?
  19. Mine hasnt been repainted yet..but it needs it its an original car I had shipped to the east coast from WA state. I have had 9 ranging from 82-08...and I liked my 92 Loyale and my 95 Legacy the best for working on and dependability ..I adore my 08 ..and dont get along with my 83 coupe which has been worse then my 88 XT6 for break downs
  20. good luck finding the louvers..I have one of the only known to exsist sets. I was lucky they came with the car. I just put a new muffler and mid pipe on mine..weberized it ..trying to figure out a nasty electrical problem since the motor swap though

I might have found the problem...after walking away from it for awhile...I hooked everything back up..but left the ign switch hanging ( to start with a screw driver) put everything else back together and I tested out at 1.0 with the meter set to ohms and at 2K. Upon start up the fan wasnt hooked up so I connected it quick. I am thinking that maybe the switch wasnt turning completely off. Going back out in a little bit to see if and how much the battery drains.
  23. Just a thought...did you happen to check and make sure the ABS fuse was in?? We say this cause we take ours out when we take the cars offroading..and the light will stay on. Its just the dumb idea that can get overlooked.
