  1. We only got about10 inches ..maybe 12 here...But it was the usual fun...watching cars slide sideways down the hill..or not being able to go up the hill. I would have gone out playing but was tired from working the night before...and..well..didnt feel like cleaning off the car. BUT!! I may getting a fantastic off-road / snow rig from a friend..Then real play time ( sorry not a Subaru...but a lifted low mileage Isuzu Amigo)
  2. that sucks!..but from the passanger side pic..looks like you did one SWEET powerslide!
  3. Yeah.. I have been lurking more then anything...and dont even bother with any of the other boards anymore..not even Nasioc. Should be picking up soon...going to try again to get my coupe figured out right after Christmas... I have help coming ..njdrsubaru...if we can stop picking on each other long enough to get something done. But this coupe is a good example of where I want mine to be..except..... I Has the louvers ...LOL
  4. Thats what I am going for with my GL-10..that clean...I have been toying with the idea of the JDM mirrors. Not fond of the red plaid interior..but the rest is gorgeous
  5. the coolant gets trapped on top of the piston..and when you try and crank ..the water cant compress and it locks the motor..thus making the horrible sound. I have heard one or two others doing the same after a weber swap. Cant remember who though...but it doesnt do any damage..and I only changed the plugs cause they were old anyway
  6. Here is how we did my return spring: small and not noticeable..and works very well. and a short video of it here: http://s50.photobucket.com/albums/f335/Bucky92/LBsHead/?action=view&current=LBmotor.flv
  7. Mine hydrolocker from a leaky intake manifold gasket..just pulled the plugs and cranked it then...shot coolant 20-30 feet across the road It was actually quite amusing You can remove the plugs and see the water in there.. that way you know what side it came from. fixed the gasket..added coolant and new plugs ..and fired up and ran fine
  8. You mentioned the car didnt turn over at all?? Maybe you hydrolocked it by accident from the intake manifold? I hydrolocked my XT6 and it was the most aweful noise. Just a thought
  9. Did anyone besides me notice that JesZek started the thread..but failed to post a pic??? LOL
  10. If y'all want your eyes to burn and bleed. Here is you resident fat chick! Hope y'all have strong stomaches. But hey!! My welder sure is sweet!!
  11. 5 cans of Black and 6 or 7 cans of yellow...and 5 cans of clear coat.
  12. We already talked..I will be meeting up at your house and riding down with you...Tommy is a most likely. I just cant bring myself to take the Imp off road yet.
  13. Steve!!!!! Wanted to let you know that Neo is coming up on the 29th ( the Monday after Christmas) and we are going to be working on the coupe..Food will be involved as always..you are more then welcome...trying to talk John into playing hooky and coming too.

BTW..spent the weekend in Jersey with Neo...and he took me to the Pine Barrens..OMG SOOOOOOO much fun...we need an offroader so bad.

  14. Aww I love doggy threads...We get our new puppy in 3 weeks ( German Shorthaired Pointer ) from one of the best hunting lines in the country. Beautiful dogs!! My rescue Cattle Dog mix ( we call her a Dingo) loves my cars...I think she thought my Loyale was hers. I think a dog is what makes a Subaru complete.
  15. I would go with nippers idea..works for me... it took awhile for my 08 Impreza to finally settle on her name...and I usually go with the AT ?MT thing ..but she is a 5 spd and she is all girl...stick up, prissy B of a car..thats how she ended up with Holly ..short for Hollister. My coupe ended up being ralled LB cause we were referring to it as the Little Blue coupe while it was still out in WA..and were just saying LB instead of typing little blue coupe...it stuck.
  16. The turbo EA82s dont like to be tinkered with too much in regards to the boost.. there are only a couple people who has successfully played with them and one is using a CCR rebuilt motor. And like others have stated..its a problematic motor with head gasket failures. Listen to Frank B on this matter we see too many try and tune an EA82T like its an EJ20T or others..Be prepaired for failure if you do much more. Another route is the belessed EJ22 swap which is a very successful alternative and will give you more then that EA82T could. Its a bulletproof motor and also N/A. Many Many write ups on the swap. The Digi Dashes in the EA82s dont have the problems like the EA81 digis..so thats a plus. EJ22 swap and a 5spd D/R swap..and you will have the perfect winter snow car..and it will be amazing on gas. I am suprised it wouldnt have the 4EAT tranny though being its GL-10 and turbo.
  17. New Radiator...yes its grounded..2 wires to fan....the fan was working until the day it overheated...The car has a good 5+ hours of run time on it before its overheat. I am familiar with wire corrosion ( I owned an XT6 which are notorious for it) and that all has been addressed. I was in phone contact with someone while trying to narrow down the problem and we are left with thermosensor switch in the Rad and/or the relay. He just couldnt remember which relay it was. Since I removed the AC from the cart ..if the relays are the same I can try Garys idea and swap them around. Or I can just do what I usually do...and direct wire the fan to run the whole time. For those who havent followed...The motor was pulled..completely resealed..new head gaskets ( the whole reason for pulling the motor). I also installed new oil pump, water pump, hoses, OEM T Stat and as stated Radiator. So basically the cooling system is completely fresh. And up until a couple weeks ago it was staying nice and cool. I thought it was a loose belt which I tightened today. The bubbles are not there until the motor is warm and the T stat opens up and they were not there before the overheat a couple weeks ago. I am going to try and retorque the heads even though I used the gaskets you dont have to re-torque..followed FSM and then torqued 10 lbs over by the advice of a couple people.
  18. I decided to look into my coupes little overheat hiccup he had...tightened the water pump belt..filled up coolant...burped it..got it turned around in the garage...and ran it..first without the cap on ..to watch for coolant flow etc...I saw bubbles ( great not again!!). Well I pressurized the system and ran it ..wouldnt leave LBs side...wanted to catch the over heat before it got out of hand. After 15 minutes of mixed RPMs..the fan never kicked on...and he was hot..not boiling ..but just hot...all hoses were hot ..rad hot etc etc.. So I tested the fan itself..fan is good...that leaves the thermoswitch and/or the relay. I guess it would be best to replace both. Here is my problem..I have been looking in the FSM and...cant figure out which relay is the right one. Sub Fan relay...Sub Fan Control Relay...Pressure switch ( main Fan Control) . I am lost ..help!!! Oh for those who dont know...EA81
  19. That would make sence if the noise then stopped when the car was shut off...but like I stated in the closed thread somewhere..the whining went on for a good minute AFTER the car was shut off...which was explained to be the pressure being released from the overflow caused by the boilover
  20. water pump did not seize..and all new pulleys..plus the car has a modified bracket to allow for an XT6 alt instead of the EA81.And I am going to disagree with you on the idler pully..just walked out an checked. belt from crank to water pump to alt loose.pulley is fine...I can also turn the water pump by hand right now.I am still thinking the belt went loose ( which the belts are brand new on the car along with the water pump).
  21. It might help alittle..you can try the cardboard thing too...if you do though.. I suggest getting the thermometer thingy I described..its like $14 at Walmart. Also make sure that your not bringing in cold air from outside ( the mix door or vents) I had the one on the pass side of the car stuck open once and seemed I had the same problem. Also make sure the valve thing that lets the hot water from the engine into the heater core isnt stuck..or your heater core clogged. I would like to know what temp your motor is running at though.( I will be doing the Thermometer trick in the next few days to my coupe)
  22. Since the other thread got locked for some reason. I stated that I noticed my alt/waterpump belt was loose on my coupe. This was after its emergancy shut off and the smoke cleared from the garage..upon restart after it cooled off good. I think I already know the answer but just want to make sure... is it possible that it stretched or the adjustment on the tensioner slipped some...caused this and now the water pump is not turning as it should causing the coolant to not circulate fast enough...leading to its over heat? I have 4 days off work soon and I might look into it some more over the holiday
  23. Make sure the T Stat isnt stuck open first and that the fan isnt running constantly. They dont take much to keep them cool and none of mine ever had good heat and in the winter my old Loyales temp gauge never got off C. If you can...get a candy or meat thermometer and see what temp it actually is running at. Backwoodsboy came up with a great ..accurate temp gauge alternative..using a digital thermometer that has a wire and a probe at the end...slid it under the foam covering the heater lines under the dash.
