SUBARU Loyale '91 SW 4WD AT
Bucky92 replied to lesamis's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
The shame is..I know those cars best and am most comfortable working on them..And I fully understand the attachment to them ( I dearly miss mine but he is doing great and happy with his new owner)It does sound like a head gasket..But it could be a few things..does it have coolant? If so are there bubbles in it? Glad you mentioned it was AT because I believe there is a modulator that can go bad and cause some smoking issues... Also..was the radiator replaced?? That is the weak point of those cars. I truely wish I was closer cause I would be more then happy to help you out fixing it..teaching you to fix it..And am also a female which sometimes makes others more comfortable. I just did head gaskets on my 83 coupe..different motor but same concept. They are good cars and pretty easy to fix and IMO the best to learn on. -
Ben...send Quido to me and let me do it:grin: I got everything for the job..angle grinder..welder..rust bullet ( as good as POR-15 but cheaper) metal prep..long hair and short hair glass..bondo...and still have have a can or 2 or 3 of Kenmore white paint. I would rather do body work any day then mechanicals.

Quick Brake Question
Bucky92 replied to The Dude Abides's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I have never had any issues getting the wrong brake pads for my Loyale....Like mentioned..just say you have a 90-94 Loyale and you will be fine Calipers are different between EA81 and EA82..thats why EA81 wagon wheels wont work on EA82s unless you grind out part of the caliper...if you give me a few moments I can cross refrence some part numbers and varify if EA81 and EA82 pads are different or not -
I did my 08 Impreza..20% all the way around..had it done professionally..and now I plan on getting my coupe done also.. Just check into whats legal for how dark you can go on the doors..Here its 35% front doors min..I went illegal at 20%..but because I have a light car with a light interior ..it actually appears lighter then it is. If you want to go illegal..be willing to take the chance of getting fined

 Thanks Shawn...that just made my day

I have no room to talk...I drive a 2008 Impreza 5 dr ..which many people think are ugly too
-
I have always found them to be pretty much...butt ugly..But we all have an opinion..And I think its like nipper says...only 1 was sold in this area..There was a reason for it.:-\

LOL..thats his spare spare....his real spare there isnt any way I would use it for a table..( his good spare has a matching alloy rim....this one is just a steelie)
-
Yup...that motor can basically go bak in the car now..if the car was ready for it.. I thought about the kiddie pool thing ..would save me from having to push LB outside ..and then figuring out how to get him back inside.. I still feel like I was being watched the whole time...Dang those 4 square eyes;)...So I have been explaining to LB what i am doing everystep of the way..I think he understands..he isnt being dismanteled for parts..but being brought back to his former glory. Oh and 'Dude....wire wheel and cordless screw gun ...thats my friend...But I think I was having more fun with my Makita angle grinder ..then the welder today
-
Two more...I put the new clutch kit in...and the newly painted crank pully...So..except for a couple small items..like oil filler tube..oil filter..alt...carb and intake...its ready to go back in:banana::banana:( as far as I know ) next will be cleaning out the engine bay.. New AC Delco clutch kit.. ( these pics are because I have been asked for updates ...notice no AGVs!!!!!) And...well..not too shabby for a girls first solo head gasket and reseal. And looks pretty good knowing its got 235K on it.
-
Repainted the crank pulley..replaced the front main....hacked off the AGVs..and played with my welder....PROOF!!!!!!
-
Small world Ben... I mainly do the Stabilizers some De Icers..and once in awhile I will do the weapons controllers. But lately I have been thinking on going a different route...and finish getting my CDL...something I always wanted. Right now I should be out in the garage though...but......

Are you sure the said Blackhawk...and not Harley??? (preparing to be slammed).:-p;) After seeing some of the people who work downstairs..I wouldnt doubt it..the department I work in has some of the highest standards in the company..I build all the control units in the cockpit. GD what you mentioned about coating with RTV...I have always dont that to valve covers..and oil pans...but I only do it on the cover and pan side never the motor.RTV is a wonderful thing..if used properly.
