Need Info, Fast! WHEEL SIZE?
Bucky92 replied to TheBush's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I keep this picture saved on my Puter of Willy Thats how much I love her: I know when I got the tires for the XT6 I had to get some oddball size 195 70s or something.. Dont know if it made it harder cause I believe they are speed rated. At least the selection of 15 and 16 inch tires is good and the prices are comeing down...slowly -
Stupid high performance... (not really)

You know people are going to want the 5 lug swap pieces LOL.. Things to look for..unbroke steering column pieces and unbroken dash trim..Also bring a turkey baster and a cleaned out coffee can..suck out the cybrid fluid from the XT6 steering unit..that stuff is liquid gold. -

WILLY!!!! I LOVE Willy..Thanks Skip...she just made my day:grin: ( Willy is my second favorite EA82 wagon of all times..next to Bucky) Actually even 14s are getting kinda hard...I had trouble finding ones for my XT6 and what was available was garbage ( around here). I am upgrading to 16s on the XT6 ..I think..just cause I can swap between it and my Imp them -
Looking for some simple welding advice.
Bucky92 replied to Gyoas759's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I am learning to weld right now ...went out and got a little Lincoln Electric wire feed..it is alittle messy but still very easy to use. And I was told for my in-experience I did a nice beaded weld on 2 pieces of stainless. ..Not quite ready to tackle body yet..but its coming soon cause the XT6 is going to be getting ALOT of fresh sheet metal soon. -

Thats the only thing that would kep me from coming down. I will most likely bring the 08 but I am going to enter it and the 83 coupe. -
have heard more EA81s being used in airplanes then EA82s ..cause the EA81s are push rod.

So actually how bad is it leaking...a quart every couple hundred miles...half a quart every 3000 ???? Like GD says..These things just leak..you either have to learn to live with it..or get something newer EJ18 EJ22 ..and even then..they still leak.
-
EA82 just leak..they just do...you can completely reseal the engine and a month later it is leaking again. But the faulty points are..valve cover gaskets..cam seals..oil pan..front and rear mains.....oil pump......sometime you can even get an oozie head. You cannot blame a previous owner for oil leaks on EA82s..Like I stated above...even the most meticulously maintained one is going to leak. Its just the design of the engine.. I resealed my 92 Loyale and it wasnt but a month later and the leak was back. Of course where I live I just call it built in rust prevention Heck my XT6 has a 30K mile SOA crate motor in it ( ER27 is basically an EA82 with 2 extra cylinders) and it leaks some. How much oil is it going through??

Keeping fingers crossed that its something so simple. Its always a wonderful thing ..when you get something cheap cause of a problem that the PO thinks is major...only to find its something minor:clap:
