  1. I saw the pic of backwoodsboy pearing out and thought...WOW:eek: 1 redneck power..dang that things gonna be fast;). When do you 2 want to get together?? Maybe have a work on the Brat day??
  2. :eek::slobber::eek::slobber::slobber::slobber::clap::clap::clap::clap: I think that about says it...GORGOUS!!!
  3. Actually..they never really made anything to modify the car..you have to make it yourself. There is a body kit that is in the process of being re- manufactured called a Kaminari Kit...A much better resource for your car is subaruxt.com All of us XT and XT6 owners are over ther and tons of useful information...but again..I hate to tell you ..there isnt anything out there bolt on mods
  4. And don't forget there are 2 levers for the tilt steering..the small one and the larger lacking one along the column underneath. This long one is the one you use to actually set where you want the steering to sit..the small one is to lift it for easy of getting in and out of the vehicle
  5. And the answer is nooo...first off its a FWD model..plus in these here parts that car is considered prestine, sweet, show quality or close to it..It will be just restored maybe swap the carb to spfi but thats about it. cuda..that sounds like a game plan.:grin:There will be no cutting corners with this...ya'll think I babied my others??? HA!!!
  6. Thats great news!!!! Happy to hear..now we want pics;)
  7. I think its all about the adventure..If you expect the unexpected..and are willing to take the chances..I would say go for it...It would be a great time and even better stories later. If I had the actual time to take off work I would seriouslly be thinking of driving my 83 GL-10 coupe back from WA...And thats about the same trip...2925 miles...44 hours of driving. Dont rush the trip back and take lots of breaks to go over the car..I would do it but I love driving.
  8. I have to thank Rob for going and looking at it..twice..and we are getting it for next to nothing ( $450) but it does need some work...but but ..Oh I missed my GLF and I will finally have the perfect base for my real show car.. This will be kept in a bubble and in the garage. The stuff here just rusts to fast and I dont want all this effort to get this car to be ruined in 2 years of NE rust belt.It wont be destroyed by being driven when it shouldnt be.. I have Holly for that...she is a tough girl. I am going to look into having the underside treated somehow as a preventative measure too..
  9. Skip I have a couple of the engine bay..the interior..I asked them when they pick it up to get some other pics. I just sent off the payment so now its up to them when they want to go get it. I am trying to not be too excited. Here ya go:
  10. I happen to be partial to the new body style ( gee I wonder why...der I own one:grin: ) And I happen to love it...I have nothing bad at all to say about the car. There are alot of differences between it and the Mazda 3..which I also happened to like. I was against the new body style as much as anyone...until I went and drove oe...looked it over very good...drove it again...checked it out some more...test drove it a 3rd time and was totally hooked...I have 6K miles on mine in about 2 months of use. (OK its not the STi but its still a 2.5i).
  11. When it does make its way back here...it will be put in a bubble and it WILL be in the garage over the winter. Its not so much as getting the rust free stuff...for me these coupes ( Cou-Pays ..Skip;) ) are basically non-exsistant here...and it really bites when they are one of your favorites and you can't find them. I already know that its ellegable for Classic Tags and is emmission exempt:banana:
  12. Planning on Flying out there for a couple days when I get my income check back to do alittle work on the car ( I wont let the boys do it for me ya know.) and get it ready for either its trip in the spring or a trip to the auto shipper. Also getting my pre- WCSS10 trip in. You can get RT airfare tickets for less the $250 pp:banana:. Plus I want to see a couple of my friends from out there.
  13. Thanks Skip! I think with my experience making circuit boards that I might be able to find a fix..and thought about maybe doing a service thing. I wouldnt be gettig this Cou Pay if it wasnt for the efforts of Turbone..he went and looked at it the first time..I voiced a couple concerns then Him and Psyko ( thats my Lil Bro now) went to check out those concerns...now in about 2 weeks they will be picking it up and storing it till I can get out there for it or get it to the auto shipper.
  14. :slobber: :slobber: Grits..why didnt you invite me Jess!!! No name picked yet..have to wait till he comes home which wont be at least till spring. Rob has some things he want to look at on it and Briggs ( Psyko ) has some parts for it. I plan on taking a 3 day weekend sometime and flying out there to "bond" with the newbie and work on it. This was the only rust found on the car and its inside the trunk...also an easy fix!)
  15. We towed an 82 GLF coupe...with an 84 EA81 4WD wagon...on a tow dolly...did fine ..alittle slow on the hills and stopping was tricky..Th Subaru motors may not have alot of HP but they do have torque...and that is what gives you the ability to tow...
  16. GD I didnt mean anything by it..I actually have replacements already lined up...I just wanted to see about a way to repair them.
  17. Thanks John!! OH did you get the email Melis wanted me to forward to you??? got to hook up with you and Jess soon..miss you guys...everytime I eat Grits I think about u 2:grin:
  18. If it makes it to this coast by then....Hows The Buckster BTW?
  19. Steve ..Rob said the only rust is a 3-4 inch spot in the trunk....It probably wont be till spring till it finds its way to this coast... I want to price shippers etc ..I so miss my GLF and am so happy to be getting another of my favorite Subarus of all times. I can't stop Thanking Rob and Briggs for this.
  20. I wanted that on my 82 GLF...I am lovin the louvers too..Guess I have to plan a trip out to Washigton to see my car in person and give those 2 big hugs...I love them both like family:banana: Just so happy to be getting a coupe again....and this one is a 5 spd!!!!!!
  21. Just got the call.. I just put a deposit on..the 83 GL-10 coupe that was posted in the craigslist/ebay section. Thanks to the efforts of Turbone and Psyko..they looked at it drove it..and gave me the thumbs up. So I am back to having an Old Gen...OK well it will be awhile till it finds its way to this coast BUT I am finally getting my 98% rust free WA car!! Some Pics: And if I understood Rob right..between him and Psyko..they got the new digi instument cluster covered and the broken tail light.
  22. Welcome back...I have had 9 Subies so far ( Only have 2 right now but possibly a third soon)
