  1. I would agree with nipper..if your dealer wont look into it..try another..they all honor the same warantee. My dealer will bend over backwards ..example..my 08 Imps front roof rack rattled at 40 mph..today was the second time I took it in for the problem..We put a new one on and I was told if that doesnt solve the problem they will refund me the money...not as major as your problem but the dealer should be willing to make the customer happy.
  2. +1 what McBrat said...my XT6 used to do that also.It was caused by the T stat. And remember after swapping it all out you will want to make sure you burp the system after adding new coolant..an air bubble can give similar symptoms
  3. I just went out exploring whats up with my boy... I think it was all jealousy..seriously..I found the first hose after the Maf..on the bottom of the snorkus thiny..off..the one that goes to the IAC...Now I swapped that snorkus before going to the Dragon meet in July..and haven't touched it since..So how could this happen?? I think My boy is jealous..but we had a talk..and went for a drive..he is purring like a kitten again..and seems the moth balls for now are doing a good job at detering the rodents..I didnt find any new mouse party remnents:banana:
  4. I still have mister tetinus..Rocky:grin: And BTW The Bush...What are your plans for that beauty...Fix up? Lift( ooo baby yeah!)??
  5. Welcome !!! Lesson number 1..you must post pictures:grin: . Actually I would like to see pics of the rust and maybe we can help with fixing it. You got yourself a great car there and will have many happy years with it..just remember you take care of it and it will take care of you....and soon you will have Subamultosia...a very infectious desease..you will find you driveway covered in multiple Subarus;)
  6. Congrats!!!!! I actually saw one ( and believe you me around these parts its RARE) yesterday coming home from work...a white one with a big Greatful Dead graphic on the hood...I about did a Uie in the middle of traffic to chase it down and direct the owner to the board. Love the hatchies!! OH and dearon..when are you going to send that thing this way so I can play with my welder?
  7. So thats what Rocky has been doing when I aint home..sleeping around I always knew he was a "Bad" boy.. OH! Skip... Holly was almost named in honor of a certain wagon thats close to you and me...she was almost called Willy 2 But couldnt do it cause Willy 1 is still around and she alone should be the only Willy for now:) Tried starting Rock last night to do a test ( thinking about clogged exhaust) wouldnt run at all..plus the muffler is just ..set..on the pipe and has an extreme leak..but I have a welder now so that will be fixed soon. Gonna set some traps around him too..not playing with mice around my boy..I have too much of my soul into that car to let them destroy him
  8. Thanks for the ideas!! Since I dont have to depend on him anymore ( even to be back-up) and can devote alot more time and effort into fixing him right..I already planned on gutting the interior to install the new carpet..so while I have everything out I will make sure to check, double check, and triple check the wires Its very damp and rainy right now so I wont go out tonight ..but I think cleaning the MAF is a terrific idea also. Gloyale..I have FSMs but I appreciate the offer to scan yours..and you gave me a terrific idea for new decals to rebadge him ( XBee6) All the suggestions make perfect sense.I plan on working Friday ( triple time baby:banana: and I just got a $2 an hour raise) So Sat I will start working on the Rockster. And for giggles: This picture I call beauty and the beast:
  9. On Sunday I desided that Rocky( My 88 XT6) needed a good last hard run on the twisties around my house..before being put up for the winter so the more intense restoration work can be done. Start him up and he sounded so happy and anxious and ready to go. I let him warm up for 10 minutes the up the street we go.Ran beautifully..like he was saying " Thanks Mom, I knew you didnt forget about me"..got about a mile up the street when he started bucking and acting like he did when the coil failed. Alright..he is just being jealous and tempermental right?? NO!!!Couldnt keep him running..put the cluctch in and instant shut off...but my boy tried..Oh did he try...He limped back to the house ( we were about 3 miles away at the time)...and that was it. You try to restart him..he catches right away but dies right out.WTF! My first reaction is to over react...Then I look beside him at the beautiful and lovely Holly ( the 08 Imp 5 door) and rememebr that this is why I got her..so I dont have to freak out when one of the cars breaks down. I can get him to start and run if you feather the gas and keep it in the 5k RPM range..if you hold the pedal steady he will die right out. Run codes...nothing..Just the old log 22,23,24,32...Pop the hood and it smells like mouse pee and there is stuff everywhere...check the airbox..nothing in it..nothing got past the filter either. There is mouse party remnents in the trunk too. Couldnt find any obvious chew marks so I am confused..he ran fine 2 weeks ago. Someone thinks maybe the ditsy has taken a nap...I have a spare I may get to this weekend..if I dont work( its hard to pass up triple time pay). So for now he is packed full of moth balls until I can figure out what happened..any ideas? ( I hope my symptoms didnt sound to vague)
  10. Steve...all I have to say is look at my XT6...that was a rusty basket case...and how does he look today??? Like a angry bumble bee:lol: . I am not finished but your is no where close to being done..thats for sure. Get some pics of the rusted areas..lets see what we can do here
  11. I would say the cracks in the heads are probably the normal ones( without seeing pics)..since the ER27 IS pretty much...an EA82 with 2 extra cylinders It is prone to the same things as the EA82s... I dont recall you ever stating why you got that motor or the history behind it ( I am just too lazy to reread right now...headache)
  12. Besides myself and ktsubaru???? I spotted 5 of them around town now..3 sedans and one other 5 door. The more I drive mine the more I love it...its a great car..extremely happy with it..My only complaint is the rattle in my roof rack that will be addressed tomorrow when I get my rear bumper guard installed...700 miles on her already:banana:
  13. I hope so..I was spoiled with Bucky ..and Pheebie was good too at 32..and Rockster got 29 on his Dragon trip.....OH and I simplified her name....its now Holly...after the flying jet car on last mights Mythbusters 2 hour special:grin:
  14. Sweet!! And welcome to the board...so where is the list of the rest of your Subarus...and you are not alone....many of us have Subamultiosis...maybe not as many as you..but some are close.. The most I had at one time is 3 ( and thats cause the husband wont allow any more)
  15. Rocky did the same thing..a sudden starter failure...I have an extra one laying around but that wont help you...If I remember right the one from the AT will turn faster but its a direct swap ( I went through this whole mess..cause they didnt look the same LOL)..So I would just swap it out quick..also clean all the connections to it
  16. Her name is Dutchess..came to me on the trip ( when I passed a sign for Dutchess County NY:grin: ) Plus she is a bit of a premadonna..does not like to get too dirty. The more I drive her the more I adore her..have a wierd rattle that needs fixed tuesday when I take her in...other then that I couldnt be happier....ok maybe if she got alittle better gas mileage..average on the 330 mile trip 26.1:-\ Hope it gets better as she gets more broken in.
  17. sounds like its time for a 5 spd swap??? But honestly...seriously..would solve all your problems there. It might be something to think about..unless there are reasons why the "need" for the AT is there..then ..well..I know very little about ATs except they can be alittle pricey to rebuild
  18. noise was nothing..until you got the " its time to change them" grind or squeal (if you put the squealers in)...brake dust was what you would expect..but I washed my cars frequently and would just blow it out. It was never a mess when I went to change them though. Shawn, you may be able to go with a mid grade pad also..you are hard on the car being a driver but not as bad as newpaper delivery...I was running 3 routes and doing 100 miles..Sundays I would have 360 papers ..weekdays it was around 180
  19. No name yet..working on it though:grin: maybe I need some suggestions.. and it seems like there are many many many more..liking the new styling then not..and this is run through 5 different boards:banana:
  20. Some new Pics in the Daylight: MMMMM so clean you can eat off it...where are the oil leaks??: Roomy Hatch ..ordered the cargo cover too: And a shot with my XT6 Rocky:
  21. They do turn off on thier own in a few minutes..ask me how I know:lol: ( been there done it already)
  22. OMG Shannon!!!! We were worried about you..just talking about you in PM...We were getting ready to send out a search party. Also..thanks for the compliments..I am really starting to love this car thats for sure. Just trying to come up with a name. Goes back today after work to have the bumper guard installed..and I might see what other "goodies" I can get while I am there:grin:
  23. Yup...kinda freaked me out too when it did... Throttle feels like it is sticking abit so when I take it in tomorrow to get the bumper guard installed I will have them look at it...cause I dont have too:banana: . Just shy of 200 miles on it now:eek: The more I drive it the more I like it...the whole car just feels so right..has that glove fit like Bucky did..I keep going out and tripping the motion light then standing there looking at it.. I am extremely happy with my choice thats for sure.I dont think I could have picked a better car for me to use as a daily driver.
  24. You betcha Steve.. No name yet..it will take a couple days of bonding with this one. The dealership was telling us...they brought the car over from the detail and prep shop around 4:30..I picked it up at 7:00 ...They had 4 people ask about it and everyone who pulled into the lot..that was the first car they looked at. Since my credit is poopy, they did a credit rebuilding loan...which included an extended warrentee 7 years 75,000 mile bumper to bumper. Also comes with a 5 year unlimited rust warrentee and roadside assistance for 7 years. I will get some picks later today in the light and of the "you can eat off it" engine bay:slobber: . Its very bare bones since it is the base model but it does have some cool features that I have never had...like the little key fob thingy that sets the alarm ..I am so easily pleased:lol: Can't wait to show it off at work..there is an Audi guy who spotted one in a parking lot and loved it and is thinking on trading his wifes turbo Beetle in for one of these
