  1. I wish I could help but the new hjob..not past my 90 day thing...so I cant take off...Can one of you guys see about harrys getting me a gas tank for the Imp ( 1.8 4WD )..Like..save if and not poke holes in it.
  2. Yup you can get it at wally world or Ace...or even the auto parts store...its in a tube...well kinda like 2 tubes held together...had a plunger ( think of it as a big needle) ..what it does is it mixes equal amounts of the 2 items together ..the 2 "chemicals" have a reaction that makes them very sticky and hardens very hard.. There are different types..5 minute hold ..30 minute etc etc..Its definately stronger then glue...I used epoxy to fix a loose piece of trim on Rocky and still holding super strong
  3. I would use an epoxy over glue..will give you a stronger bond and holds better when exposed to heat or cold
  4. Its still $357 from 1stsubaru....really dont want to spend that much on an old Imp..not a big deal..I will just live with having to put gas in it every day and keep lots of dry gas handy over the winter.
  5. Been to Harrys quite a few times...they poke holes in the tanks... I tried all the aftermarket companies..and the only place thats showing a tank is through Subaru
  6. I think I am going to try and replace the tank on my Imp..but my online search came up with nothing nada zilch...All I could find is to go directly through subaru and honestly...I dont want to spend $417 for one . I tried all the normal resources Rock Auto etc.The closest junkyard wont sell tanks and pokes holes in them. You would think it wouldnt be so hard to find something for a dang Impreza would you?
  7. Did you check and replace the white connector to the Alt??? That has been a very common problem with charging issues and the destroyer of many an Alt and Battery...All with a few different symptoms all depending on the degree of corrosion and deterioration. It should not look like this: Also.while we are at it check for seperation in your crank pulley..I doubt this will cause the issues you are having but wanted to bring it up since its another common problem ..that is unless you already have a welded one..If not draw a line from the center out..run the car and when you turn it off check to see if the line still lines up
  8. I need to replace or repair the gas tank on my 93 Imp..I worked on it yesterday for a few hours..the seam on the drivers side is toast and any more then half a tank will leak out...Now I have tried JB Weld and another sealer..problem is..I cant get to the spot to clean it off or even see exacltly where the leak is. Is there a trick to dropping this tank without having to drop the rear diff and stuff?
  9. I agree that ...thats pretty scarey.Grab some pics of it if you can... You have one of my biggest fears about my XT6 right now..( my front rails are toast) and I would really like to see where this damage is to keep an eye out for similar on my cars......Dam this North East rust!
  10. Andy.. I am glad you got that touring wagon..I would take one myself if I could find a good one..OH! Package is going out tomorrow;)
  11. Look at the descriptions....Old Gen..80-89 DL GL GL-10 RX XT XT6 Brats and 90-94 Loyale New Gen: SVX Legacies Impreza Baja Tribeca Outbacks.
  12. Nice Family!!! Thanks for the pics..one of these days I need to take a pic of my 3 together ( or at least my XT6 and my Imp together..my Loyale is retired)
  13.  Pics we want pics!
  14. Being an XT owner..I have to say ..it is ugly but it does grow on you;) I hated mine when I first got it but love it now and it would take a GOOD offer for me to part with it. Some of the worst ones I have owned were...my Ford EXP ( if you dont remember them they were a small sport car of the 80s 2 seater built off the escort platform)..my 80 VW Rabbit Convertable and my 82 Toyota truck...I had a Vega ( Cosworth baby!) and it was awesome...my 2 Chevettes were great also ( they always make the list of worse cars.). I think for the most part..these best and worst car lists are bias and just one persons opinion...ecept for the US Yugos:lol: ..I remeber the local dealer back home in PA couldnt sell them..so they would try and give them away when you bought one of their Buicks
  15. On a side note...if your carpet doesnt have any holes but is just very dirty and stained..this works well for cleaning it: pull it from the car..soak it with water and laundry detergent...for greasy spots spray with Simple Green..or any de-greaser use a scrub brush and brush the bad areas..keep it wet ( forgot to mention...HOT water on the greasy spots.. Then take a pressure washer ( mine is 1500 psi) and spray it...I hung mine up to do this so all the dirt would wash down and away...ONLY spray from the non padded side. Do this till the water runs clear...any spots that remain..retreat..you can even scrub in some GoJo hand cleaner or the likes ( it even works on getting grease out of clothes). spray off again...If you want to soften it up during drying...If you have on of those soap attachements for the power washer..mix 1/4 -1/3 full of liquid fabric softener and fill the rest with water and spray on well...( this also makes the carpet smell good) hang it up and let it dry.Once dry take a clean scrub brush and brush the nap back up and re-install..I have dont this trick a few times without any problems..just did it to the new/used carpet for my XT6 and it turned out beautiful. Like Subaru seats ..their carpets hold up well.
  16. Mary ..PM me your addy or directions..I would also have to find something to do with my dog for the day
  17. Yes you have to push while turning the caliper in...some people also use a large set of needle nose plyers. Its a pain the first time you do them but after you get one done it isn't so bad...also..did you remove the brake resevoir cap? if the fluid is already topped off then it will not allow you to push the calipers back.
  18. Dontcha mean....Things that make you go Vroooommmmm!
  19. What Dearon said about the PCV system...replace that along with both "breather hoses to the crankcase..if you pull them you will probably find them all gummed up..sure sign is oil in the air filter box. the 4WD swap is involved but not that bad..these cars are legos and it doesnt look like you have the rust issue we have...you will need the tranny.. rear diff rear control arms axles pedal box ..cables ( you will need a new speedo cable too ..I think the AT is too short ) fly wheel and I think thats it. I thought about doing it to my Loyale but with the rust and stuff..I gave up that idea...plus the time. Nice straight car..love the DL quad lights
  20. Right now: 92 Loyale wagon 88 XT6 93 Imp L Sedan 2001 Toy Tacoma 4WD....Tommys truck 86 Suzuki DR200...Tommys bike 86 Honda XR200R...my bike...in peices..project pushed to back burner 2007 Craftman L2000 Tractor But in all honesty...If I could have another Ranger like the one I had back in 94...only brand new vehicle I ever bought...I would..it was a great truck!
  21. I know how y'all feel... I have 3 too.. My Loyale has given me 5 years and almost 45K worry free miles...yes things have broke but it has never ever let me sit and I havent taken the best care of it at times due to money reasons. My XT6 has let me sit twice now and its my true love/hate thing..I love to hate that car..but wont get rid of it. Now I stepped into the EJ series and to tell ya the truth..I am trying not to like it as much as my Loyale but it isnt happening..I am starting to LOVE my Imp. I have already put over 3000 miles on it in about a month....no worries...not bad for free
  22. I probably have 2 or 3 laying around here..I snag them at the JYs cause I sometimes dont have it tightened down and Buck will blow his off.
  23. I wish I was closer...I would love to help also..I know some about the brakes and I love helping people..either teaching them what ( little) I know and in return..learning what they know. Its also fun. Also as for the smoking issue..I was thinking the same as Cougar..PCV..Always start simple..also...when you can search here for step by step repairs..or get a manual...I thought that doing a rear disk swap "sounded" hard...but I tried it anyway and it was very easy..You can fix your Brat..I have faith in you...If I can do this stuff so can you:grin:
