Rx is dead............ :(

Intake manifold gasket...it was hard to find on Rocky but see your other thread and it tells how to get it running enough to look for it..look on the bottom of the stack where it bolts to the head.. -
I can first hand tell you that this does happen:grin: My XT6 Rocky had this happen about a month and a half ago....less then a week before the Dragon Meet...and in another state Actually ..trying to repair the side with the blown intake gasket we had to loosen the other side and I ended up with all 6 cylinders hydrolocked..Pull the plug and the coil wire and crank it over..it will shoot the water out of the cylinder..plug the coil and put the plug back in and it might run long enough for you to see if this is the problem...And FTW Rocky has been running great ever since the repair...no ill effects for being drowned OH!! If you cant get it running or dont want to try..start squeasing the upper Rad hose..listen for gurgles or hissing..or any sound of fluid leaks..then look closely to where you heard that sound...This is how I found my leak..look closely around the cylinder that was filled up.. I hope this is all that is wrong...Its actually an easy fix..if it is all thats wrong make sure when putting new gasket on the mating surfaces are super CLEAN ..one little speck of old gasket etc will allow for it to still leak.

Subaru Leone vs. Nissan Skyline you tube
Bucky92 replied to dragonfire's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I watched this vid 4 times and I believe that was only an 1/8th mile track...I could be wrong but...from being an X drag racer ( had a 71 Mach 1 Mustang with a 429CJ w/ blower..doing 1/4s in the high 9-low 10s) It just looked too small to be a quarter mile. Its great though seeing a Subaru whoop-up on a car that costs 100X more:headbang: -
Lookie what I found in a random search.

You think that one is cool...you should see Turbones hatch..that thing is beyond cool! ( I keep telling him that it needs to come to my house for storage:lol: ) -
Thats CT prices for a car..too much...here in CT all people do is look up Blue Book value and thatys what they want for it...Of course they all think theirs is in Good condition and want top dollar or think they are cutting you a deal when they say its $100 below BB.( All BS if you ask me). I bought my 92 Loyale 5 years ago from a dealer for $600..of course old Buck had 150K but still ..from a dealer..they wanted $1200 but it wasnt too hard to talk them down..specially when you walk in flashing the cash. But its all what you are willing to pay and what its worth to you. I am willing to pay about $1500 for a rust free D/R 4WD EA82 wagon..but that would have to be one near MINT MINT shape.

I am going to be alittle later then that...I have to stop and pick up my new hood for the Imp..if its a 9 am time from McDs then that means I would have to leave here at 5 am LOL.. John...I will see what I can do..I am taking the Imp so room may be an issue...we will see..suck the thing doesnt have fold down rear seat..at least the XT6 has that

:slobber: the hatch:slobber: :slobber: And you mom...got to love MOM:banana: ( Melis's mom is the coolest lady ever!). Shannon...7 hours? heck if you drive fast its much less:lol: I am doing this cause its a 3 day weekend...but Harrys is about 3 and a half hours from me...but always worth the trip..and it always turns into a little mini meet. Place if fun to just walk around and the $2 admission..who cares....I loved the time we went and Melis's daughter Kimmie wanted to go too.. . I am using Pheebie for the trip so hopefully there wont be a breakdown again ( last time I went to PA Rockky decided to blow a gasket....literally:grin: ) OH! Melis..I may be looking at a car for Kimmie...90 Lego Sedan..waiting for reply email with info..it will need head gaskets ( or new motor ..TG for Harrys )If its cheap enough and not bad it could be a maybe???

Checked it out...$118 and its outta stock. I am not going to swap out the motor in it cause the car just really isnt worth it...Its just my DD cause the parking lot at work has super small spaces ( if you drive anything larger then ..say a Ranger..your wheels are on both lines) and there are constant reports of people hitting others cars with their doors etc...I was in panic mode for 2 weeks having to bring Rocky in...thats why I rushed getting the Imp legal...she is already dinged up enough on the sides. Think I will just add a CA Intake to the XT6..doesnt do anything for them but make them sound good..and look good too. Might swap an EJ22 into Bucky though ( my Loyale)..he wasnt sounding to good yesterday when I took him for a spin

I am thinking on putting an intake on Pheebie ( my 93 Imp) ..I am really inpressed with her..she moves pretty good but dies out on hills ( I have been kinda spoiled running my XT6 for so long) But ..what would I gain by putting an intake on her?? Pros Cons? suggestions on which one to get without spending a fortune? She gets her new RS hood this weekend and I added some small mulitcolored spectrum fog lights on her...She is now equipt with Sirius Satellite radio ( should have gotten that along time ago). I still have to clean up her new rims and swap her tires ( she will be strutting XT6 salad slicers) But she is coming along nicely.

86 Stock GL 4X4 Wagon - Original Owner
Bucky92 replied to Subarule's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
As for your interior..as long as the seats and carpet are not torn you can clean them up easily...( I owned an auto detail shop and this was the easiest way to clean interiors) Bucket of hot water with laundry detergent in it, a scrubby brush, some Simple Green...and a wet/dry shop vac. Spray the Simple Green on the stains and let soak for a few ...scrub the spot with the brush....then just start scrubbing everything with the hot water and laundry detergent..soak it...dont be afraid ..this is what the shop vac is for...scrub scrub scrub..then take the shop vac and suck the water out....take your time and get as much of the water out as possible..for the hard stains go over it again...once done..find a nice sunny spot...on a good warm dry day and let it sit for a couple hours with all the windows open...it will dry out any moisture that the shop vac didnt get. I just did similar to new/used carpet for my XT6..cept I had it out of the car..hung it and used the pressure washer ..but it turns out looking like new...and it smells good too. The Simple Green is a degreaser and works wonders. ( just re-read about the seats..shame..but replacing is fine) The sloppy steering could be bushings and/or tie rod ends and ball joints If you have some pics we would love to see them.. I know out of my 3 Subarus my favorite is still my 92 Loyale wagon ( pic of it in my avatar) -
Cant wait to see the pics..great score!!!!

EA71s are in some of the 70s models they are the pre-EA81 and I believe they are 1600cc ( not completely up to date on my historic Subies)
-
not to step on toes but I believe the EA71 does not have timing belts. Be prepared to replace every seal, gasket ,hose, etc...sitting is bad causes dry rot..tires also...brakes will probably be seized...also you would have to drainALL fliuds and replace. check for rodent nests cause even though it was garaged they can still get into it and do alot of damage to the electricals

92 loyale engine temperature issue
Bucky92 replied to adventuroussoul's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Check your thermostat and feel you rad for cold spots... EA82s are known for the radiators to get clogged and go bad... I would try to give it a GOOD flush first..pull it out and inspect for broken bent missing fins etc.. -
heres what ive been up to ;D
Bucky92 replied to Crawlerdan's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
It looks fantastic!! Love the lights..I am planning on some on my wagon if I go with the D/R 4WD lift idea..plua I plan on adding a couple to my XT6..and I just put foggys on my Imp yesterday ( cool multicolored spectrum ones..OMG it looks good at night..no pics till she gets her new hood). Lovin the black interior also..good job! -
I just got my 93 Imp 4 door sedan legal and have been driving her everywhere...I ...like you ...have only had EA82s and my ER27..and to tell you the truth...for the most part I really like my Imp..she has a couple things that need addressed ASAP...but..226K miles..runs fantastic!Even though Pheebie is an EJ18 AWD ..she gets great gas mileage..handle wonderful ( not as good as my XT6 though). From what I have learned about mine...rear suspension....seems many have to replace it but its easy honestly...and the shifter linkage and tranny mount...I thought my 92 Loyale had a sloppy shifter. Little things like the no cup holder thing you may still have..but for a little car its really roomie...quicker than you would think..and easy to get parts for and fix. I cant help you on what to pay since I got mine for free..but I can say its a good choice

Bucky92 replied to 2bucks's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
