  1. Nothing you said sounded sexist...I just always say that as a confidence builder for you boys..that even us girls can do it:grin:
  2. Just remember...even some of us girls can do timing belts:)
  3. I am definately like the sedan better then the 5 door too..not saying I am in love with it..but if my only 2 choices were those 2 I would go with the sedan Maybe once some aftermarket stuff gets made ..who knows
  4. Like Dalton said ^ ..My Loyale was pretty much trouble free for 3 and 1/2 years..it wasnt until the last year that things have been catching up to it...I had the same thoughts as you..car is at the end of its life etc etc ( and its still a baby by Subaru standards...15y/o and just 203K miles). But I know once these little things are worked out..it will be back to its reliable self
  5. I want to see pics of the Sedan though...that doesnt appear to be quite as bad from what I have seen of it so far
  6. I had the same problem with exhaust gaskets...I actually had a partially stripped bolt..had it re tapped to the closest standard size and since then no problems ..I went through 3 sets of gaskets in about 3 months..I actually still have a set of gaskets left. And I was thinking the same thing as Mike...sounds like you have a vaccuum problem
  7. OMG I would so have to fix that rust...and put a grill on it..But I am terribly superficial ..Love the DL quad lights!
  8. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/Literature/brochures/brochures-90-present.html http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/Literature/brochures/brochures-80-89.html Just click at the top of the page where it says Brats/80s/Offroad?etcetc ..all sorts of really cool stuff when you explore;)
  9. Either way..what is the yard asking or what are you asking? Also..would the 84 4 spoke rub the calipers like EA81 wagon wheels? I am so curious what Buck will look like with a small facelift like rims. These would be awesome but I think the chances of finding a set of these is slim to none: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/80s/wheels2/8hole.jpg
  10. I think Jess would be upset..its up to her to feed water and walk him..I have my hands full with my Mullet..oops Tommy
  11. awww shucks:o Thanks Shannon... I am off work all week and might be able to have a look see..be easier if it could make it here since my tools are all here. I start a new job next week so I will be much harder to get hold of. Let me know and we will arrange something
  12. I do it because its my hobby and I enjoy it..and not to sound harsh..but it seems like you like to question everything I do... I shouldnt have to explain my actions. Yes my wagon is very sentimental..my XT6 is a problem child..and my Imp is just a well behaved sweetheart.. I got the Imp for free and who is going to turn down a running driveable free car. I dont believe in just letting stuff sit and rot away..I try to take care of my stuff to the best of my ability and if I want to sell one off..I want to be able to sleep at night knowing that I didnt sell any hidden problem..Just the way I am
  13. Thanks Gloyale..you said what I was thinking...or wanted to say. Most of what I do is just to prolong their life for a few more years...Cause ..for the most part they are too far gone to begin with...unless its a simple fender where you can just replace it. Even my XT6 isnt getting a "full" restore..its too far gone..just want to have it around for another 5-6 years Like I said ..I just want to have a shot at helping daerons car get a few more happy years out of it for his sake..He deserves it!
  14. Many of us started here being knowledgeless..this board has helped so many of us out...ME..I knew bare basics..But thanks to this board I am pretty comfortable doing almost anything...and when I feel intimidated..there are a few memebers who have actually came to my house to help or picked up the phone and helped walk me through stuff. You will figure this out..just always start with the very simple fixes first..like the cap..checking hoses ..tightening clamps..
  15. Thanks John..couldn't have done it without your skills though..I just buttoned it up..you did the major work ( note to self..once new job gets all settled and bills caught up..buy a welder;) ) ..small note..bored..gave Pheebie a tune-up...WOW thought she ran good before...now I can't get the drain plug out..soaking it in PB Blaster. She desperately needs an oil change too
  16. Bucks never going to be getting a frame off..so to speak since he is unibody..I am just trying to get another couple years outta him until I can afford a rust free D/R 5spd Loyale.. I just would really LOVE to get my hands on daerons car..just for a weekend or 2 ..he has helped many people out electrically and with many problems..i would just like to help his little GL-10 get a new lease for a few more years for him
  17. I think Pheebs will be staying.. she is the most fuctional out of the 3 along with the easiest to get parts for...and she is AWD since the XT6 will never see snow or road salt again..and my Loyale is FWD and my new job is slightly over an hour away...and 3rd shift..I think the little Imp is the most practical of the bunch
  18. I just did the rear drum to disk swap on my Loyale wagon and love the difference..I would like to axe the rear drums on my Imp and am looking for suggestions comments and what to use as the donor. Is it as easy as my EA82 wagon?? ( 3 hour job tops and that was messin around). Thanks in Advance
  19. I dont like you :-p I am actually playing with selling one of mine off..just dont know which one.
  20. My personal opinion on them is ..I like the sedan better then the 5 door...but they are terribly boring now...no style..just..BLAHHH!! They look like everything else out there now. They had one at WBM in Mass and I saw the pics of it and...it was just so boring..
  21. Thanks Jess..like I said before..I couldnt have done it without you and Johns help with the welder ..I believe I have it completely water tight now ( filled holes with foam insulation..then coated with silicone sealer then heavy heavy undercoating on the exposed areas..inside layers and layers of fiberglass ..1 can each side..aluminum and the steel..then painted over)
  22. I have been thinking of how I would fix that since I first saw the pics... I have a plan of attack that does NOT require window pulling.and sometimes you can't "stop" the rust but you can slow it down alot. Trying to stop the rust around the windows is futile. Its under the seals under the glass..and usually messing with it ( pulling the windows..you are asking for leaks and/or a broken windshield. But sealing it off can majorly slow it down. Bucky has some nasty windshield rot but I made it air/water tight and in 4 years it hasnt gotten any worse.
