  1. I couldnt contain myself last night and had to make a comment on Nasioc..On his thread about rims.. I didnt even get into it with him about how the 5 lug hubs on the XT6s ( he said it was thier weak point and basically the 4 lug pattern is stronger:eek: :-\ )
  2. This was my driveway last weekend LOL..note the XT6..the Loyale ..the sweet sweet tan EA81 sedan,,,and about every third car that drove by was a Subaru..but mainly New gen..couple gen 1 legos around and about 5 EA82s..no EA81 ..and my 1 and only XT6 in this area:
  3. Hey!! Another female XT owner!!And you work on it too!! I have an XT6 that I have been working on restoring for about 6 months..can't help with the turbo but I know alot about the regular EA82s and getting to know alot about the EJ27...I have a set of FSMs and may be able to look things up. Post pics of yours!! This is mine:
  4. Paul..you know we would have helped but our schedules didnt co-inside. or you didnt let us know when you were going to be working on it...plus it would have cost a small fortune to run Tommys truck..but we still would have helped...
  5. Stop talking dirty to me  Just remember to have your big butt kickin boots on for next Sat! ... But I get to kick yours first for the brake parts ( for those who havent visited meet and greet..before you think anything...I asked Turbone to give me away at my wedding next Sat at the Alcyone Dragone Meet)
  6. Or you can upload your pics to a hosting sight like photobucket and just copy and paste the tag into the message body
  7. Oh I can work on them ( just did rear suspension swap on my Impreza yesterday....and my XT6..with the exception of a hub and a panel welded into the floor..has been completely maintained and rebuilt by myself). My Old Loyale Bucky IS a freind..it was all I had at one point in my life ( a very bad point also)..and since I have had so much taken from me in the past ( besides everything I owned I also had any self esteem and confidence taken etc etc.. I am actually a mental basket case:rolleyes: ) Bucky has been the only thing no one could take from me. I am going to hold onto him for a bit longer... I have a person who I would trust 110% picked out if I do sell him ( John.. I sent you the adoption papers right???:-p Still need refrences from 20 mechanics) if or when the times does come.
  8. For some reason that just reminded me of the : "How many licks does it take to get to the tootsie roll center of a tootsie pop??? The world may never know":-p
  9. You should probably get about or alittle better then my FT4WD XT6..which gets around 28+ ..will check for sure tomorrow...and thats not "playing" with it:rolleyes: . A FWD Loyale 5 spd can get up in the high 30s to low 40s...the 4WD ones are carring around some extra weight but can get in the lower 30s.( my 92 Loyale FWD 5 spd gets about 40-42 highway ) . It all depends on your driving style and up keep on tire pressure and tune ups etc.
  10. Just put in the new rear struts on Pheebie the Imp...was simple enough...cept for the lower bolts being frozen on ( I hate having to get the man to loosen stuff like that for me)..and I know I need some ratcheting box wrenchs...but all in all..not too bad...the new struts are actually used ones..about an inch longer then what was on it..so now the rear sits high but not too bad..hoping when I feel like swaping the fronts out it levels it out ..since the fronts are from the same doner car. Took her out for a spirited trip around the block ( I live in the boonies so ita all hilly backwoods driving..and she didnt bounce or make funny noises...handles the turns almost as good as my XT6 ( ok nowhere close to that good).Have to fix a rattling heat sheild yet and found the leak in the gas tank...may be able to JB Weld that. I can't wait to get her all road worthy! I really like this car..was hoping for a wagon but maybe in the future
  11. Mary...the Garage is going to be Rockys winter home..unless by some miracle I can get a much better job ( I obviously didnt get that good one I had the interview with:-\ ).. I was hoping to get Rock stripped and sent out for the underbody work he needs. I was hoping to...at some point..add another 2 car garage to the property. I really wasnt ready for the 3rd car to enter the picture ( Pheebie my Imp)but how can you turn down a free running Imp. At least you have the 86 so your 84 will live on... I am swapping Buckys stereo into Rock today but thats about all for now.
  12. Now I am regretting my paint job on Rock..cost be about $150 to do his..between the sandpaper grinding wheels paint remover..decal remover..paint..pin stripping..undercoating..clear coat...now the special wash with wax stuff to keep some sort of shine on it..just picked up more of the yellow and clear coat too to have for touch ups:-\
  13. The EA82 Turbos do have some issues with head gaskets..more so then without the turbo..but as long as it was well taken care of you should be fine
  14. I totally agree with the "Its all about how you take care of it". I actually had a Ford Van with the 300 straight 6 with 425,000 miles..all original..never rebuilt.. I also had a Honda with over 500K But personally I find Subarus easier to work with and around...I just picked up a 93 Impreza with 226K on it ..with out hesitation..should be good for another 100K at least. My 92 Loyale has 203K ..without engine problems...yet my XT6 ..the car has 170K but the motor has around 30K
  15. Depends on what you have and how mechanical you are... I am planning on swapping all 4 out on my Impreza this weekend
  16. I personally would go with the 2.2 ..just because we know the reputation of the 2.5..look how long Elle lasted the first time! But thats just me personal opinion;) ..have heard entirely too many bad things about the 2.5
  17. Do a search on here for checking your ECU codes ( Its under the steering wheel .you have to remove a cover) Run the codes then either check back here or ask us what the code is for ...it will flash..long then short..so 3 long followed by 4 short ..code 34..EGR sylinoid..etc. There are a couple fixes for tappy HLAs..first off ..it is common..second .it depends on the degree of it..sometime just a good oil change a new oil filter ( DO NOT USE FRAM!!).to running a quart of ATF in place of a quart of oil..or Marvels Mystery Oil or Seafoam ..to replacing the Mickey Mouse Gasket in the oil pump ( likes to suck one of the ears in over time)...to actual replacement of the HLAs..alwasy try the easy cheap fixes first. Somewhere on here someone has a link to the How To Keep Your Subaru Alive book in pdf..or also..if you ask nicely :-p some of us have FSMs on pdf and could either make you a copy or email it to you.
  18. and the reason you dont notice it from the outside is cause of the undercoating...from the outside this looked fine..I found a small water leak around the seat belt and thats when I desided to pull this apart to fix from the inside... These guys know...I cried for days..but backwoodsboy stood up and welded some supports in..
  19. I showed you the pic of the outside of my car..this is what I found on the inner wheel wells: many people have had the same problem..some had their rear shocks blow threw while other looked worse without problems...My concern is where the seat belt mounts to the car..if I had someone in the back with the belt on and I would of just braked hard..it would have ripped out..look closely..you can see the ground..and it looks good here..much worse once I cleaned it up
  20. I just use some clear silicone..and do the inside and outside smooth it in nice with your finger..mine has been holding for 3 years
  21. I hate each and every one of you ..( OK not really ) Next year I am going.. would like to bring Rocky out but might jusdt fly out and sweet talk someone into picking me up at the airport and letting me drive one of thier cars in;)
