  1. I just ordered new wheel cylinders and shoes and hardware kit for Bucky( they will be in next Friday.) I found the spacer..the one that slides on the spindel before the inner bearring has sever machining wear on it. We cannot find a part number to order a new one. Any help on this?? Can you get new ones or does anyone have some laying around they want to get rid of. I really dont want to reuse this one. Thanks for all the help so far... BTW ..I was looking at how hard it will be to replace the rear shocks...looks like a piece of cake
  2. I have Buckys ( 92 Loyale FWD) rear brake pulled apart...it basically fell apart..took no effort what-so-ever ( the hardest part was getting the wheel off:rolleyes: ) I took pictures and laid parts out as they came off...couple of idiot I never did drum brakes before questions. 1. Are the wheel bearings supposed to just fall out on a FWD car??? 2. wheel cylinder....one side pushes in easily..other side doesnt or when it does entire inners shift to one side ( does that make sence?)Bad wheel cylinder? it did spray a minute bit of brake fluid out so I am assuming air in the lines. 3. Does the car have to be running to bleed the brakes since it has the power assisted booster?( I think Like I said dumb questions huh??). Thanks a Million for any help. I put his new unclouded no moisture perfect like new headlight in..OMG does it look nice..now I need to put like new lights the rest of the way around:)
  3. OK Everyone..June 30th is the day...mid July wont work for many because of the Dragon meet ....Figure everything out later.... Congrats on the new addition The Whirlys:banana: Pics Pics Pics!!!
  4. Thank You Mary...I want to come to WBM with my Bumble Bee XT6...but ..finances are not allowing it..I am 98% sure I am going to miss the Dragon too:( And you are right about the effort...Yesterday we went over to the local diner ( I really need to grocery shop and like you..I cook not nuke ) I took the XT6 cause he was super low on gas and I wanted to fill him up..Got 3 beeps and waves from local NASIOC kids..but the best was this..I parked out of the way taking 2 spots...alittle later a 2008 vette parks beside me taking another 2 spots,,the owners get out ( they were younger )..stop..look at Rocky...go over and check him out! They then come in the diner and ask who owns it and I proudly had to give his story to them and the diner owner...The reactions were awesome when ..first..they learned it was a Subaru..then it was a rot heap just a couple months ago...AND ( this was the best part:grin: ) that everything but the floor welding was done solely by myself ..they even asked about the painting ..and I am honest telling them it was Krylon spray paint. I dont think I have ever felt so proud. My favorite line " You did that?? You?? a Girl??? Awesome!!!!" They looked at Tommy and he nodded and said..he is not a car guy..thats all her . I cant wait to see your Brat...and I cant wait to get Bucky back in order....at least he will be easy compaired to Rock.
  5. Do you want me to scan my FSM pages on the starters and how to test them and email them to you???
  6. LOL ..but you have a spray booth and gun ..dont forget I used spray cans.....But still...blessed are those of us who dare paint our cars ourselves. I love that shade of green BTW.
  7. They might be saying 2 sizes because the left and the right ones are different...Just a thought.. Good Luck!
  8. Looking good!! Blessed are those of us who paint our cars ourselves:grin: . I used the spray on undercoating on the lower part of my XT6..thought about that bedliner stuff..let me know how well it holds up.
  9. I was going to say the same thing.... BTW..when we left Carlisle...I have to say your sedan now has some get up and go!!! 100X better than that AT... People musta thought we were nuts tossing each other the shocker:lol:
  10. no no no....Bucky has a moody cylinder ( Number 3 to be exact) that runs hotter then the others and it burns out that plug about once a year...I am just used to it ...never really looked into why ...its not that expensive to change plugs anyway. I love the EA82 also...I dont care what others have to say about them either...I love the ER27 of the XT6 for getupandgo...but that car envokes road rage I sware...Everything about the EA82 is awesome...whats not to love?? The boxey style...love it!..the room for such a small car...love it...the bad weather handeling even with FWD...love it!!! and the best thing????? FWD mixed with 5 spd mixed with good tune up ...fantastic gas mileage!! and best of all..if you have a wagon...you can haul a fridge in it! ..Thats why I miss my Loyale....plus ..like my XT6...there are not many left around here.
  11. sounds like the same thing my XT6 did when the starter went...exactly like it.. I thought it was the ign first but if it didnt start first turn of the key I beat the starter with a hammer and it started right up..I dont know if you have any place down there to test the starter and if I was home I could pull up the directions for doing it yourself..but work computer so nothing here..I tried cleaning the brushes and the starter out with no go but once I replaced it no problems..there could also be old brittle wires not getting enough current...but its a start:)
  12. poor dearon...he will never live down the great spark plug incedent :-p :-p :-p ( OMG my spelling is bad)
  13. I have used dearons temp fix ( letting fan run all the time with key on) and am still using it on my XT6 till I can get an OEM thermostat (my dealer here doesnt want to waste their time to order me one) and a new thermoswitch..temp runs at 1/4 on the guage now at 85 degrees out..only went above once coming back from Carlisle ( Car Show) going up one of the big mountains with the AC on..went up just below half. Its an easy quick temp fix and it also helps you figure out why you were overheating. I tested my fans first...by jump wiring them and touching the battery.
  14. Umm.. its an AT..the fix would be a 5 spd swap ...seriously..the ATs are known for being very underpowered.
  15. I was thinking the same as 86Bratman. When did you change the timing belts and tensioners last? And did you replace or reuse the old tensioners?
  16. thats what i would like to do..but no FWD doner cars locally...and shipping would be a bear.
  17. LMAO..Lucky for me I have owned Buck long enough to know his quirks...one of them being plugs...they need changed at least once a year ( he is due) picking up new ones tonight and the rear shoes..might order the wheel bearings to..if not I will get them next week
  18. You know ..there are good cars...then there are great cars....I have come to the conclusion that my 92 Loyale falls into the great car catagory...I have been spending so much time getting the XT6 going and looking decent that poor old Bucky has been neglected and ignored...so today I decided I was going to spend some quality time with him...gave him a much deserving bath...and while washing him I came to realized how bad the past year has been on him...All my doing too...the rust has set in to the point I think it will be easier to replace his one front fender then try and repair it...again....new rust has set in in the back ....stains and chips in the paint...dulling his finish..OH! I am such a bad bad subaru mommy....I let my boy go....yet what makes Bucky so great???...Its the fact he never complains...he is always there when needed...starts every time. With all his rattles and shakes and no stoppy..he still will do his bestest to do what you ask of him....I almost cried when I realized what bad shape he is in..and its all my fault...I just hope he can forgive me cause now it his time...his time to be repaid for the 4 and a half years he has devoted to me. How can a little $600 plain jane FWD 5 spd Loyale be so special....And Why do I love this car so much?? Be prepared for lots of questions and parts searches..I want my Loyale back to his former glory...If I could bring that XT6 back..I can surely bring Bucky back. Thanks for letting me ramble
  19. OUCH!..we just pulled a chewed one from Tommys Toyota..lucky we caught it before it got that bad...now I have to go out and check Buckys
  20. I just couldnt resist...until I find the right rims for Bucky...authentic Subaru hub caps..painted by me:grin:
  21. I wish I had an FSM for Bucky..I just have the crappy Haynes ( just like Chiltons) at least HTKYSA is good info. One day I will find and get FSMs for Bucky...since i plan on keeping him forever and ever....I have them already for my XT6...best money ever spent on the car. and no..I havent done Buckys Car Domain page yet:grin:
  22. at a junk yard the fuel pumps are cheap...I dont know if things have changed but when mine went in my 88 it was a dealer only and it was expensive..went to a JY and it was $20 took a whole 15 minutes to change out..just make sure its off of the same model ( IE if yours is turbo pull from turbo..due to different fuel pressures)
  23. Make sure you hooked up the ground wire tight....so the engine is cranking just not catching?? I am sure there is a way to test the fuel pump....also you checked fuses etc? I think I would double check for good connections to the fuel pump first...One good thing ..if it is bad it cake to replace...
  24. Actually I have a Haynes AND How 2 keep your Subaru alive on pdf CD I will look into the brake set-up stuff..Thanks a million...so its a good idea to have the spring tool or not?? I have BA needle nose pliers
