  1. Whats a ball park figure on how much a used turbo unit out of an 88 would be worth?? Any ideas for future reference as to how much it costs to have these units rebuilt or how much it has actually cost someone who has done it?? thanks
  2. ebay had one for 475 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7924876127&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT try emailing this guy to see if he has more??
  3. hahahahahaha BUT it could be for his cell phone charger, or radar detector, or flood light, or????
  4. Well, the new cap, rotor, plugs, and wires seemed to help, so I thought. But the cutouts are back. It seems to cutout when I am accelerating harder rather than a slow acceleration. AND it appears to do it alot worse before the turbo kicks in, so I dont think it has anything to do with turbo stuff. When the turbo kicks in I feel only a little cutout once in a while. But upon acceleration before turbo it does it all the time?? Any ideas?? 88 gl turbo wagon 5spd s/r running the expensive gas 92 octane I believe?? I tried the 89 octane and same problem??
  5. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7925285202&category=6783 crazy
  6. It probably would have been pretty cool to see in person...although quite frustrating at the same time. Glad no one was in the rig.
  7. 3 things: ANdy rocks!! He has been very helpful just in emails alone. Someday, since he lives down the road somewhere local, I will meet the imfamous Andy;) second...yeah, what he said about the spaldings and pull n save...if you'd like, give me an email cause I can usually get 70% off brand new...but I would take the car to altons for a FREE brake inspection, then Schwabs also for a FREE brake inspection...just to verify whats exactly wrong. third...if you need rotors, I have 4 that are basically brand new, with brand new pads for next to nothing.
  8. Thats one awesome MY car !!! Any chance you could post pics and/or describe how you setup the snorkel with the filter, ect?? Are those stock 13 inch rims?? That brush guard looks like it was made for a sooby?? Did you make it or is it an aftermarket direct bolt on??
  9. odo says 218k but when the original got pulled it had 278k....so I am pushing to 285k. Roughly 25-28 mpg running the expensive gas Still going strong, just some oil leaks everywhere possible...LOL
  10. Something that comes to mind with this idea is putting the car in a wind tunnel. The flow of air goes over the hood and up the windshield. It would almost suck the air out of the air box instead of forcing air into the air box??? MAYBE??? :-\
  11. maybe a custom bearing shop could make some bearings for you?? We have a shop called brown bearing that you can take your old ones in and they measure them and can build or replace them with new ones??? just an idea ??
  12. Hey....I have a whole set of discs off my 88 and pads that are like brand new....not sure if they will fit on your 84 but if they will you can have them for next to nothing?? Im in spocompton also so I could probably help you out in this area?? As for this being part of the problem, hard to say without driving the car?? drop me a line if your interested in the parts. pwoens1(at)yahoo(dot)com
  13. yeah, I also have a 93 accord (wifes car) and I had to replace those belts myself...next time I am paying Honda cause it was the worst job I have ever had to do!!! Subs are soooo easy.
  14. As for the timing belts, it cost me about 30 bucks for the pair a few months back. 2-4 hours sounds about right if you have A/C, PS, and your timing covers are still there, and you dont have a clue what your doing? I think I heard somewhere an average timing belt job through a mechanic can cost anywhere from 250.00 to 500.00. Once you tear into it you may need to inspect and replace a few miscellaneous seal along with the water pump. None of this is real complex and if you have a few tools and dont mind getting your hands dirty, give it a shot and save some dough. These cars are very simple and this website is an abundance of knowledge and assistance. You might be able to find someone from this website that is close to your area and may be able to help or atleast save you some money??? Maybe??? None of your problems sound life threatening for a sub
  15. Well, I basically got a APC cone filter brand new for free. So I am in the process of either making a fiberglass MAF mount or ??? BUT, I am considering cutting and fabbing the existing hole in the fender well for the air box to be bigger and accomodate the cone filter. If nothing else this will atleast alleviate some of the engine compartment heat?? Maybe the cut is a bad idea because I have not heard of any one doing this?? Opinions??
  16. I have one out of my 88 s/r 5spd turbo?? WIll this one help you out??
  17. just remember if it seems like it wont come off by prying on it, then there is most likely a screw hiding somewhere. It does sound like a loose connection somewhere though?? Maybe a burnt wire or just a bad control unit??
  18. 1) Can I take the LSD parts from a 3.7 and put them into a 3.9, or vice versa for future reference?? 2) Please correct me if I am wrong, but I beleive the non-aspirated 5spd dual range differentials were 3.9, and the aspirated 5spd single range differentials were 3.7??
  19. me too:brow: . I sent you an email ... before calebz :-p (why that smily is pink, I dont know LOL) I will definately take the LSD, if the price is right or trade for other parts if you need anything???
  20. Are these less desirable because of this centering washer? Are the lug nuts and washers difficult to get your hands on?? Maybe we could add the "pug wheel" question and answer to the FAQ or another area as a pinned topic with all the answers??? I know we have an article about the pug wheels but it really doesnt answer the questions that always pop-up?? Probably a dumb idea but had to say it
