Mild-mannered and laid back. I didn't develop an interest in mechanics or cars until I bought my first car at age 21. It was a 1985 Subaru wagon with push-button 4WD. That car went everywhere my buddies' lifted 4WD trucks went and some places their trucks didn't, simply because it was narrower and more agile. When the head gaskets gave out, I attempted a repair, but with limited funds and even more limited know-how, the wagon went to the local wrecking yard...I still regret that.

Years later with more funds and only slightly more know-how, I got a 1985 Subaru BRAT. Alas, it was sold off to make way for a mini-van as our family was growing. I was impressed that a guy from New York state would fly to southern Texas and turn around and drive a vehicle he had never seen back.

I've finally got the Subaru I've dreamed of: a generation 1 BRAT. The purists might be offended. I've got the project in the works for a 4" lift, 29" tires, hi/lo range transmission, and EJ22 swap. Sometimes I think I'm in over my head, but Hey!, passion for Subarus is a powerful driving force!
