  1. Ok, so I can't stop taking my Brat off road, even around town I am parking in strange places and driving up on things! Anyway, Jeffast123 and I went back to the local spot, and he got some sweet pictures! I only got stuck once, and the roo pusher got stuck on a high spot, and it was balanced on two wheels caddy corner, but Jeff threw a rock under the driver's side front tire and it jumped right out. lol Here are a few of the best pics! Here is a good flex pic... Note the grabber green diff! Jeff approving of my wheel off the ground......and yes I am stuck here... This is when I got stuck....oops! Me and the Brat on top of a huge hill... And lastly, me doing a "burnout" in a puddle of mud.... Man, I can't wait for my lift, and 27" Wal-terrains!!!!!!! Rock on!!! Rick
  2. Bill, I had fun going up there, and basicly all I did was keep Erik awake, destroy gas mileage, and help lift the heavy stuff! LOL Oh, and pull his spider intake too. A special thanks goes out to everyone here, but I would like to thank these people for helping me out when they didn't really have to!......... ShawnW (Thanks for all your help, axles, seats, and thanks for the forum as well!!!!) Kingbobdole (And Phil, for getting me further into Subarus then I ever thought possible, rescuing me when my sub breaks down, and smacking me when I do something stupid....) Luvmybrat (Thanks again for the hat and coffee cup, btw... And keep on subin') Jerry Demoss (Jerry Rocks! That's all I can say) Gravity Man (to help me out with my crazy ideas) Eyesore (I owe you 50 cents, and my hearing!!!!) And, of course blownbimmer! (Whom was the key to the tranny switch, and lets me know when his brain hurts) LOL I am sure I am forgetting a bunch of people, but my brain is still choked and running rich this morning. he he Thanks again guys! God Save USMB !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rick
  3. Sweet! sounds like we have a Subaru Off road convoy! Now, I have decided to keep off roading to a minimum until it gets lifted, (see bent mustache bar) but I hope it wil come this week, and I can get it in in a week or two. Rick
  4. No, you need kicked Cutie! LOL What has Jeff taught us about off roading XT's???? But yes kingbob, we need to go! I did some how bend my mustahce bar, btw, and I guess I have to get a new one now. Oh well, 1 more thing I can spray paint! he he Rick
  5. You got yer' self a deal Dr.!!! Anytime you want to see it, let me know! I like the roll bar too, thanks! When I got the car it had like 86+ GL wagon seats in it, and someone custom fabbed the "brackets" with bolts and metal strips. I simply used the same adapter and welded the seat to it. The driver's side was quite tricky, as the MR2 driver's seat has a completly different mounting system than the passenger side. But I just kinda slapped them together. I think that it definatly needs to be welded though! Rick
  6. Heck yeah, lights on the brush guard would be sweet! LOL Man, I want to off road more now! Argh, I think I caught the bug. Jerry, you'll have to come along next time I go back, so you can get thrashed around too! ha ha Hopefully it will be lifted soon, can't wait! BTW, santa is gonna cruise around in my Brat this year! It has 70 horses insted of 8 deer! lol Rick
  7. Um, you forgot the red cherry bomb, it makes a nice addition to the grabber green diff! Especially with Christmas just around the corner! And, I will go back, and take a pic of the car in a rut, but I didn't have a shovel or anything, so I didn't really want to get stuck, but I'll get a shovel and go back there and get a pic. LOL and if I did get stuck, a ford festiva would have had to pull me out! HA! Rick
  8. Ok, sorry, I guess I was wrong then.......:-\ It's all good, It's still a cool picture though. And I have gotten it to actually articulate like you are saying, but never got a pic of it. (it's articulation for a subaru, as they do not have solid axles) Rick
  9. I'll get you a pic when the Brat is lifted. Rick
  10. Thanks cheftim! I did know that, and tried it all of the ways possible, and it seems to be a half of a spline off, I know it sounds impossible, but that's why I think there is a burr on the diff. stub pin hole. I am crazy, but that seems like the problem to me. Rick
  11. Went to a place in town, and thought I would drive around this place, lots of hills, LOTS of ruts from what seems like the Ford Big foot truck!! I drove across these ruts that were about 2- 2 1/2 feet deep, and the bump stops came into play, brushguard, skid plate, er, you get it. I didn't look at the trail I was taking and drove kinda fast over these ruts. (oops) Anyway, here are the pics I got... Seats And a good pic of the whole car, good shot of the roll bar, and brush guard. Rick
  12. Here is a pic of my stock articulation, no front sway bar.
  13. Cool, glad to hear it's not dead! lol just kidding around man! Went Wheelin' at a place kinda in town, but I'll make a new post here with a link to pics. Rick
  14. Yeah, I know they are busy and all, and I understand that, but when you slap out $400 for something you start to get a bit nervious when it has been such a long time, and you haven't gotten anything to show for your $400. But if they're that good (I wouldn't have bought it if I didn't think they are worth it), then I am willing to wait for the kit. Ok, I'll stop whining now! I will get a pic up today for sure, I think I am gonna go off road it at a place here in town, so I will bring the camera along. Hopefully the cops won't show up to ruin my fun. :-p And Wal-Terrain has hereby been patented by me, TurboXT!!! LOL ADOG, Thanks.... and how is that 6 running for you? Did you kill it yet? Thanks Guys! Rick
  15. So wait, why do I need a crossmember? (I am assuming you meant the engine mounting crossmember) And I would most likley use the EA81T cross over pipe (header) but I was just wondering if I could use the EA82T in case I couldn't find the EA81T cross over pipe. And eahaust is no problem, I have something that will work from the DP back, just need the up pipe (cross over) and I will be fine. It's probably just me but I didn't really get what you meant about replacing the turbo mounting flange with a pipe. I am going to put a turbo in it, if that's what you mean. And I would rather not pull the engine apart at this time to swap pistons and all, it's my daily driver so I can't have it down for too long. So that is the reason for the crazy way I am triying to it. Sorry I am kinda tired. Rick
  16. Ok, I have decided to slap turbo heads on my Carbbed block, MPFI turbo intake manifold, etc. For a higher compression turbo MPFI EA81. I was just wondering if I can use the EA82T uppipe (exhaust manifold) on an EA81 block. AND if the EA82T intake manifold will bolt up to the EA81T heads. Also if anyone has or knows of any EA81 turbo parts, please let me know! Thanks Rick
  17. How's it going? I finally have rear axles in my 84' Brat, after converting it from an auto to a 4 speed manual D/R!!! (Thanks Shawn!!) Yay! So no more FWD only! (had issues with the old axles sticking to the rear diff) In low range, she'll crawl over just about anything. I'm suprised what it can do just around town....just needs ground clearance now. Except one roll pin wouldn't go in where the axle meets up with the diff. so I just put a cotter pin in it for now. I think there may be a burr on the spline shaft pin hole. Not too big of a deal, it will be fixed up soon. Other cool stuff I have done recently: a high roll bar (thanks Jerry!) just needs a few more bolts and I am good to go. Ripped the front sway bar off, it has great articulation for being stock. 2 1/4" exhaust from the cat back, glasspacked, and side dumped. I also put some Toyota MR2 seats in the front (thanks again Shawn!) and they hold you in REALLY good, and they are comfortable, too. Dressed up the interior a bit So just about all she needs now is the lift (on order from AA) but it seems to be coming REALLY slowly! 5 weeks now going on 6 since I ordered it! I hope it's worth the wait. :-\ And then I need to get my 14" pugs put on and get some Wal-terrains on it! lol I'll try to get some pictures of it un-lifted with all the goodies on it tomorrow. Soon, it will see some off roading....he he... Just thought I would give an update! Rick
  18. That would be cool, but slight overkill....And I am not really up for cracking the block open yet.....plus I want to run slightly higher boost than stock.....so the 9.5:1 compression would be a bit high I think. I think I am going to at least try the N/A cam, it shold still at least run, but if it's too big of a problem, then I guess I'll have to change it, if it's fine, more power to me! Rick
  19. True, but I am not concerned, it cost me $30 to make....I can always run with no Y-pipe if I have to. lol But yeah it will get smashed up obviously if the weight of the car sits on it. But I've run over some high curbs, and it got "high centered" on the exhaust, but the car wasn't sitting on it, it was just kind of exhaust was pushing on the curb, and it slid over the curb (kind of a test) with just scraping it up (nothing too bad)...but if the weight of the car was pushing down on the exhaust, or slammed down on the curb, it would have been gone. So yes, you are right. But once the lift is on, it won't matter as much, but still could get hit. Rick
  20. I think you may be right on that, forget the crap I said in the PM I sent you. LOL Rick
  21. sweet, sounds good..........now I am worried about that cam issue...... Rick
  22. There is a spider in the garage, but it's my sister's. I am getting one from phil though..... I would assume that it would work, but I would need some heads or measurements to find out for sure like you were saying. Thanks, Rick
  23. Sweet, will an EA82 spider intake fit on MPFI EA81 heads? Rick
  24. Darn, that's right...forgot about the cam. Do I need to put a turbo cam in? I would imagine it might mess with the power somewhat. How hard is a cam swap on the EA81? It would seem that I remember you have to crack the block open to get to it. Fartness!!!!!!! :-\ What is the difference in the cams??? And yes, I don't think that it would like 85 octane, 93 is premium pump gas here, anything above that is really expensive! Thanks Rick
