My car has two stock EA82 electric fans in front of the A/C condenser. They displaced the hood latch so I yanked the cable and installed hood pins.

I've never had the impression that it was a rust converter; I always thought it would be a great outer layer of protection for a car that is already rust-free or rust-repaired.

did you.... line the entire truck? Do you deal with rust repair and sheetmetal replacement as well? This looks to me like an ad and that's OK, a lot of us have businesses that we use to benefit the USMB as well as ourselves. Info about pre-lining prep and longevity and prices would be interesting...

Let us know what kind of car you're dealing with; you might add it to your signature. It would probably be easiest to get another headliner from someone else or from a junkyard, seeing as how easy it is to find parts cars in the PNW. -

Good luck with your endeavor. It sounds exciting! I would encourage you to look into patenting it but keep in mind that China is the land of the cheap knock-off. You WILL see "your" tool for sale on eBay and other places if you are successful; I imagine you could sell yours on eBay as well. I don't know if eBay would pull knockoffs from the USA site if you can prove infringement. It would be neat to get exposure in Europe too; if you can find someone trustworthy to whom you can license it, you might produce them over there as well (didn't they invent VWs in Germany? ) since shipping from the US would be expensive. Patent infringement can be messy to deal with but you would have the advantage by holding the patent. At my last job, my boss was selling a piece of merchandise that appeared similar to a patented version, but the patented version was far less efficient to install and remove than our version, thanks to her ingenuity. He threatened to sue and after much correspondence, we scaled down our advertising for the product to keep it under the radar until his patent expires. That's another issue - your patent will not last forever, but it will give you a headstart on making the most money from your idea. I suggest that you get a patent lawyer who likes to work on his/her own VW and enjoys punking out copycats, and then you're golden!

Yeah, junk in the bottom of the tank is most likely. That hole in the carburetor probably didn't do anything except feed the previous owner's imagination. It'll let dirt into the mixture though. I would plug it. That other guy's Brat sounds like a parts car to me. It's rusted out and doesn't run but does have some neat parts.. wave some cash in front of him and see what happens. Hopefully no more than $500 will do the trick. Good luck!

I'm afraid I wouldn't know as I've never driven a stock OBW. I'll try and compare them at some point but you might be better off inquiring about that on one of the Australian Subaru forums. Come to think of it, I should do that too since I might be asked about that by the potential buyers.

Is the RX without the diff lock an 85/86 5speed, or is it an 87-89 auto? I'd think that anything can be fabricated to work; if you want a bolt-on solution then I'd put an ad in Wanted for some RX linkage. I think it is a bit different from a normal dual-range 5speed but not significantly.

Yeah, the RX/coupe door is longer so you can get into the back seat from the front. Try that in a wagon I'd bet that the wagon and sedan doors are interchangeable but don't quote me on it.

Cam locks, exactly. More pics will have to wait for a few days but this weekend I hope to twist the studs out of the sides' mounting plates and get them screwed onto the sides of the fenders with jack nuts. My idea involves separating them from the plastic air dam because unbolting them from insides the fenders is *mildly* annoying. Gotta try and wrap up the '01 OBW first though, and fix my wagon's axles. Again. STAY TUNED.

Here are some pictures of the front valance pieces that the 87-89 RX uses behind the front air dam. I mentioned to Justin that I'd post these and I figured that a thread in general reference would be better than posting in his parts wanted thread. The RX front air dam uses a modified version of the front valance. Many of us have seen how the normal valance attaches; 3 bolts along the bottom of each fender, integration with the skid plate underneath, and a few bolts along the front that attach to the radiator support. It's not uncommon for someone buying a front air dam to receive only the air dam and not the valance parts; many sellers don't know that the RX valance is unique and should be included with the front air dam for proper installation. The RX front air dam's valance is manufactured with the same parts as the "normal" valance. The "normal" valance is a 3 piece composite with 2 symmetrical outer parts and one longer middle part, all spot-welded together. On most EA82 cars, the longer middle part is what is bolted to the radiator support (and skid plate). The RX uses the two outer "wings" and omits the center part as the air dam effectively replaces it and bolts to the radiator support with a special center bracket. The wings have a couple of small right-angle brackets attached to them that in turn bolt to the radiator support of the RX. You can therefore make the "wings" out of a stock valance by removing the center section and improvising the support brackets against the pictures below. Here are a few pictures of the "wings;" (driver's side only) I will add a picture of their mounting location on the radiator support later. On a non-RX there will NOT be captive nuts welded to the car so they will have to be added or bolted through the holes. The two holes in the vertical face of the bracket bolt to the radiator support; the two in the horizontal face attach to the air dam itself. I'm also working on a custom installation for a front air dam. As many of you know, I'm running a lifted wagon that sees limited off-road use but makes up for it during the winter. I'm engineering a way to make the front air dam quickly removable and I will update this thread as I make progress with this project.

Good idea. Run a few extra pairs of wires in it for stuff you'll think of later. That way if you want to hide it you only have to yank the headliner or carpet once...

Wiring diagram needed - 88 RX transmission

argh. thanks Russ. I've had that diagram for I-don't-know-how-long and always glossed over it. I just realized that the F59 connector is the one I'm talking about with 6 poles but it only charts theB, B, GB, and LR wires. Here I've just added in the G and BW wires which are presumably in another diagram somewhere... anyone got the answer? Probably reverse or neutral or something. -
hi, after 68415631 years, I'm finally going to hook up the wiring to my swapped-in RX transmission. I'd like to get ahold of a wiring diagram if someone can help: My RX trans has a round 6-pole plug and a separate 2-pole plug that I need covered in the diagram. If you can help I'll pay you one million dollars plus expenses. thanks!!!!!
