  1. I think there's a very small phillips or hex screw in the front of the knob; you might investigate tightening that.
  2. MWAHAhaha... soon the USMB will have infiltrated every possible parts source in the entire world! Someone get hired at Ebay next! congrats
  3. you might really consider a new cam grind to round out your efforts.
  4. I think Ken posted about the difference a while ago and said it was no reason to worry.
  5. Shean, I'll keep your offer in mind and I do appreciate it; I'll admit it's a bit tempting even.. but at this point I'm going to hope I can fix mine later this year. If you really want a turbowagon I can keep an eye out though.
  6. i want a fridge in my car too! and a commode and a shower. maybe i should give up and buy a VW westy. haha, i just had this mental picture of me putting the car on cruise control on the freeway and crawling to the back of the wagon to use the commode at 60mph
  7. call that guy's boss and tell him how much you appreciate his lack of cooperation. the napa guys here bend over backwards for you. that kind of behavior is why i don't go to schucks.
  8. make sure the coolant's full, then let the car warm up with the hood open, and watch for it. you can hit the throttle cable by hand to rev it up and make it "squirt" harder. I vote for the water pump too.
  9. yeah, you could either spend some money on restoring your drum brakes (yechh) or spend some money on the rear disc swap. I've figured that I could do a rear disc swap and a front brake service on an EA81 for around $100.. the hard part is finding caliper hoses that haven't been chopped at the holding area at the JY. anyone ever priced new hoses by chance?
  10. sounds like RM's a believer I'll remember this for the next time I have an engine out of a car
  11. when I RXed my wagon, I used two jacks to get the front of the trans on the crossmember and to hold the trans' rear end up high, and then I bench pressed it the rest of the way.
  12. hm. i don't know if my wagon would make it over the pass with the crappy engine. and i'd want to keep the RX trans and all the other goodies it has.. the idea of trading my problems away to someone else sounds good though if i had some good turbo heads i'd grab a carb shortblock and start over (again) but it's not a $$$priority now.
  13. compression is shot. 80/85/90/50, in no particular order. should be 120.
  14. i've already got most of what i'd need for the exhaust, as well as the spyder and accel coil/8mm ignition stuff.. i still have a fantasy about a 2.2 swap but the $ isn't there right now .. i'll maybe get back to this later then. thanks!
  15. I'd suspect the aftermarket trans mounts and the pitch stopper. it worked OK before them, so get those up to stock. It sounds like it's flexing the engine and transmission against each other, and I'll bet it's bad for the car to be run that way.
  16. you probably can.. grab an extra dash from the JY or someone in your area and tear it down.
  17. I use the napa oil (made by valvoline as are the filters i believe) and a dealership filter and crush gasket for the drain plug. Car loses some oil but it's got 208k on it
  18. believe it or not, the police are not legally obligated to protect you or your property. you're on your own! don't end up in jail
  19. I've been considering this plan for getting my turbowagon back in shape. I would like to have a killer turbo subaru but I have to admit I wouldn't mind eliminating the headache factor that a turbo can introduce. I'd like some opinions/estimations about what kind of power output one could expect from such a motor: SPFI shortblock, MPFI heads, torquey cams, nice big Y-pipe and 2.5" exhaust, and spider intake. What sort of HP range would my wagon be in with that setup?
  20. yeah, and if you move the engine, you'll have the radiator out and you can take the radiator somewhere for a checkup. be prepared to replace it, and if you do, get a model with 2 rows of cores (it will likely be an automatic transmission compatible radiator) and don't spend more than $120-$130 on the radiator. I didn't see any talk of changing the rear main seal while the engine/trans are apart, but you should do that too.
  21. General Disorder, I got your PM, tried to reply, but your PM box is full. you're welcome anyway. good luck on your search!
  22. the AC compressor has some bolts that you get at from underneath the compressor. give it another shot!
  23. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=2476523853&category=6467 got a winch-compatible bumper and a rear rollbar.. not worth more than the $500 they're asking IMO.
  24. i usually break in around 330am, gag them and saran wrap them to their bed, and turn on the heater.. usually takes an hour tops before they're begging to talk.
