  1. yes, that's the hill holder. get it hooked up and adjusted and you can ditch that spring that someone added. if you adjust it too tight it'll work on level surfaces too, and kill the car when you try and take off I saw an RX at the JY that was very unusual. It was an 87 sedan so it had no body kit; it looked like an 85-86 RX.. but the interior was like the white three doors'... it had the mild gray RX seats and a full time locking diff tranny, which the 85-86 doesn't have. weird stuff! yeah I got the LSD and the VIN.. Corky? JF2AC56B1HG22195, another dead soldier
  2. that's a neat link! but i didn't find tranny info .. thanks
  3. upper strut mounts could be solved if you had a lift kit; just modify the appropriate lift piece...
  4. has anyone ever looked into fitting impreza/WRX rear suspension into a GL? Like the whole rear crossmember? the purpose being for adjustable rear camber?
  5. if it's an RS, it's all looks and no go. no turbo, no LSD, just a body kit.
  6. my car has a brand new radiator, water pump, and thermostat. the stat is 180 degrees and my heater is not as warm as it's supposed to be. I'm thinking about swapping in a 195 until it warms up again. the car warms up reasonably quickly though.
  7. i'd go for a complete EA82 setup. Maybe you could engineer the middle piece so that you don't have to take off the crank pulley to replace the water pump. you could sell these on ebay as well, i'd imagine.
  8. aaargh. that's one of the best things about driving a manual! but my car's synchros are a little sticky. I need to do the ATF thing.
  9. http://www.k-mac.com.au/makes/subaru.htm $110 for camber plates. $35 for shipping. Not bad methinks! Plus they have an improved sway bar system too. I'm accepting donations if anyone wants me to "take the risk" of trying this new product first
  10. hehe.. i've got a tow strap in the back of my subaru too. it's not for me, i don't think Eric, i must have missed something. When did you get an impreza and what kind is it? Edited 'cause I always want to spell your name with a K instead of a C. *slap*
  11. I need wiring/pinout diagrams for an 86 push button single range 4WD tranny (GL10 turbo) and for an 88 RX FT4WD tranny. If anyone can hook me up with these diagrams I'd be grateful enough to send a US Treasury "gift certificate" good for beer at your local beer store ... since putting the RX trans into my wagon, I've not had reverse lights or the lock available for the center diff and I want to make an adapter, and I need the diagrams for that. thanks in advance!
  12. front 2----1 4----3 back CalebZ told me a trick.. the #1 is always furthest forward on pretty much ANY engine.
  13. do the molded foil coolant hose and the oil hose.. both dealer parts. i went in from under the car instead of over. I didn't take the right front axle out and wish I did .. I also didn't unbolt the turbo from the crossover pipe and ... yep, wish I did. If you go that route, you might recommend changing the crossover pipe to turbo gasket as well; they get pretty used up after a while. maybe a new downpipe gasket as well as you'll have to take it off to get the turbo loose. be sure you use some PB blaster or yield before breaking any of those exhaust bolts loose, and use some anti-sieze goop on them when reinstalling. Also, do that RX owner a favor and talk them into letting you open up the bottom of the airbox If I was going to do all of that for someone, I'd ask for $75.. that seems a good price for the better part of a day spent under a car or stuck in the engine bay. Oh, and if you go to Napa, get some of the blue nitrile gloves; they are the best thing since (insert euphemism here) .. $12 for a 100-count box and they hold up much better than latex gloves, and little to no hand washing afterward!
  14. buy "something else" now and get a subaru to play with later.
  15. well, it's not NEW, it's a few months old NEW.. but i think i have an extra i can throw on and see what happens.. just when i thought i was done with this crap..
  16. My car won't GO (can't generate enough spark?) with the headlights on... turn them off and the car moves reluctantly. the dash is doing weird stuff as well. I'm going to go over the grounding tomorrow.. anything else i should look for? coil? alternator is new BTW. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!
  17. i used spray carb cleaner and a tool made from some solid core wire and a chopped-in-half .45 handgun cleaning brush to clean my PCV lines...
  18. you can't do the cut and paste method with an EA82 car. gotta do it the hard way. try flushing it first and flush the rest of your system too while you're at it.
  19. as of a week ago, pull n save in spokane had a peugeot with 4 - 14" alloys including lugs and center caps... no spare. i told a local buddy about it first but he has to pass. I don't have the time, $, or energy to grab them for anyone, sorry. JY is Pull N Save, price should be $12-$15 each if anyone else local wants them. I don't know that they're still there even as it's been a week.
