  1. shannon, one more thing about the RX trans is that the low range is not as low as in the common dual range trannys, so it won't be as slow as the normal dual ranges are. It's not as useful for offroading. I swapped that transmission into my turbowagon and LOVE IT because that low range is very nice for street driving. As far as the locking feature goes.. you wouldn't have to enable it at all as long as you wouldn't mind not being able to lock it up.. i still haven't matched up the wiring harnesses yet in my car; all it means is that i can't enable the locking center differential. it also means i don't have reverse lights so i have to be extra careful If you want to enable the locking center differential, it would be simple. Go find a single range push button 4wd car at the JY and grab the vacuum actuator deal in the corner by the driver's strut tower. It has green plastic parts on it. Get the vacuum lines it sends to that transmission (they'll hook to your RX transmission in a similar fashion) and get at least both sides of its wiring connection(s). If you have the switch for the locking diff for your RX transmission you can use that once you get the wiring installed, or you can use the switch in the shifter for the same car you get the vacuum actuator from. The RX uses the same type of vacuum actuator as the single range push button 4wd cars, the difference in the switch is that there's a power and a ground for a light in the RX's diff switch. Most of what you'd be looking at besides the transmission interchange ( i think your car is an EA81?) is the wiring-in-the-vacuum-actuator issue.. shouldn't be too hard.
  2. blue lights are technically illegal in many places unless the vehicle is owned by a police officer. I've heard of cops being the only people allowed to put those blue dots in their hot rods' taillights.
  3. sue that guy and get your son some counselling. looks like you've already had good luck with this, comparatively, but good luck anyway..
  4. ah, thanks.. guess who's never rebuilt an engine before?
  5. "may be harder done than said" that's why I asked about running the vin
  6. HOWEVER a lot of GLs came with all the GL10 stuff but no GL10 badge. go figure. Some RXes came without the RX designation in the same way.
  7. hey, Brian.. skeet's car needs a new key as the only one it has is pretty worn down.. would you be willing to please hook him up with the master key code if he gave you the vin?
  8. what's that you're doing to the piston in the second pic?
  9. maybe i'll just grab the whole compressor then.. thanks
  10. yeah, i'll have to switcharoo the A/C clutch. I plan on grabbing the alternator bracket too.. but will the XT's round A/C compressor's bracket hold my wagon's square A/C compressor?
  11. i'm really interested in a full length canvas sunroof. http://www.streetbeatcustoms.com/sunconkit.html
  12. I'm putting an 87 XT engine with spider intake in my wagon soon. *My wagon has A/C w/ smaller squarish compressor. *The XT engine has no A/C. *Pull N Save has an XT with A/C w/ larger round compressor. Obviously the bracket will fit on the engine and intake just fine. Will that bracket for the round style compressor hold my square style compressor as well or am I chasing the wrong bracket? I can't make it out to the yard, most likely, until the weekend, and would like to know if I should search for a different bracket instead of wasting my time with this one?? if anyone knows. thanks!
  13. Hi Chris. OK, so you need a TPS such as the one on my new engine (thanks Tyrel!) from an 87 XT turbo? I'll be using the TPS from my 86 turbo when I put the engine IN my 86 turbo so it's all yours. I'll make a note to snag it for you. $10 including shipping OK?
  14. If Subaru/Prodrive build it, I'll drive it. We can do it! heh. The Suzuki monster is called the Escudo Pike's Peak edition or version or something. It has two v6es with either single or twin turbo and is close to 1000 HP. YIKES!
  15. thanks all. hey tex. like the name change i have a few extra TPSes.. I've started to hoard old sensors in good shape after realizing that they're unreasonably expensive new from the dealer
  16. what's the price? do they make poly bushings?
  17. EA82 A/C compressor ?s I am under the impression that the clutch can be changed without draining the oil or freon from the compressor.. My car has the square style compressor. Will the clutch from a round style compressor swap onto my square compressor? I don't know which manufacturers made which...
  18. yeah, i was going to suggest charging your hood pins as well. I hope that guy gets a blowout at 85mph.. what kind of store was it? any security cameras that might have seen your car while it was parked there? and depending on your insurance coverage, you might not have to pay too much .. if it's just a hood it's probably less than your deductible though..
  19. i hope it's just the OP gasket.. you might consider getting the weber from someone who supplies Redline.. someone else here might have the contact info for a source; it's been in a fairly recent thread..
  20. thanks. I figure the worst case anyway will be swapping connector ends onto my car's wiring harness.
  21. thanks a lot! SVXpert, are you suggesting that I pick up the ECU from the 87 XT? my car has a different MAF and everything...
  22. If you're going to have to replace the rear control arm, etc on one side, you might swap in control arms for both sides that allow a rear sway bar..
