  1. My 1984 FSM stops at page 15-110, the wiring diagram for an EA81T Brat. I have an '84 EA81T coupe, and my FSM does not list a wiring diagram for the 2-door coupe. I realize that the front of my coupe is going to be extremely similar to a Brat's, down to the whole 2-doors thing... do you other '84 FSM owners have back pages I don't?
  2. good points on the EJ22 by 91Loyale and Ed.. it *will* be a lot for a 2WD, and an EJ18 swap will make a one-day job of putting in an EJ22 if you ever want to 4WD the buckmobile...
  3. where'd you get those blingin' hubcaps? the start of a new project is so exciting... have fun!
  4. ahhh.. guess what I found? same incident I believe?
  5. "the excess" is best off being removed; this will allow for the harness to route either in place of or parallel to the original harness.
  6. w00t for turbodiesel! I wonder if the turbo could be relocated for easier retrofittification in the older models...
  7. I've changed a few 3.7s to 4.11s.. I've never removed the pinion shaft from the 4.11 case.. I put the new ring gear on the 3.7 chunk, put that in the new case with the pinion assembly left completely alone, then put the races for the 3.7 on the new case, bring all the shims with it to a driveline shop, and plunk down $50 and get that all done for me... hope that helps... BTW a shop could adjust the front-back for you, as well as the side-side like I have done, at the same time.

    T-case

V-drives are also used in speedboats IIRC, engine on top, prop on the bottom.
  9. cosmoline Sounds like you'd have to reapply every time the weather got over 80degrees...
  10. Hm, sounds like a job for a square of plywood and some jackstands to me. have fun! maybe take it to the carwash and spray the crap out of the underside to save your face..
  11. As long as the sides of the top don't slope in upwards toward the center, which would leave gaps on the side when lowered, that sounds like a great idea. I was intending to use Camaro window struts for my "1966 Barracuda hatchback" idea... never came to pass but those would definitely be what you'd want. You could also get struts from a canopy/tonneau shop but they'd probably charge you a lot more...
  12. John (alleyboy), are you interested in ever running the car as a 4WD? You can block off the driveshaft output of the 4WD with a CV boot w/small end plugged if you want to do just half the conversion now... no gear oil loss that way.
  13. easily. My boss just got a pro-grade vinyl plotter but we're all n00bs as far as that's concerned... there's also no reason that custom themes couldn't be produced as well.. Is there a rear piece for the tailgate?
  14. be careful that the hole doesn't have a taper....
  15. I think 5/8" will work.. you aren't going to find metric BTW I sent your headlight bezel stuff yesterday
  16. make sure that the green test connectors aren't plugged in for regular driving; I just "fixed" my EA81T's ECU light by unplugging the test connectors.. the PO must not have known that they are normally to be unplugged...
  17. I'm sure Ken's got pics of you in distress
  18. I tell him that if he can fix the clock in your Subaru that he's hired!
  19. Your tick can probably be addressed by resealing or replacing your oil pump, search for reseal and pump (3-character words don't register in the search ).. an easy job on your car...
  20. Some have 5-lugged their EA81 cars by drilling out the EA81 control arms to accept the larger EJ ball joints. AFAIK noone's fragged a control arm from this yet. Then swap the tophats.
  21. ditto that. Plus you'd be half-prepped for a 4WD swap! (I didn't know bucky was a 2WD! )
  22. best bang for the buck is the EJ swap. you're talking a couple grand into an EA motor before you can flog it without holding your breath. Plus parts are easier to find for newer motors....
