  1. good for you! and thanks People who dump stuff like that in the woods should be
  2. change the thermostat, give it one chance not to overheat, then change the radiator. I personally would just change the radiator anyway..
  3. try searching EJ22 swap driveshaft or something like that.. good luck!
  4. It would be very hard to accomplish due to fitment issues. The WRX EJ20G has approximately the same horsepower output as the SVX EG33 and is easier to come by...
  5. BALANCING the flywheel should cost about $30. It did for me, anyway. Having my flywheel's holes milled out was $90. I don't believe it's necessary to fill them before they're elongated. If the EJ holes were the same radius from the center but just off to the side, then lateral/rotational slippage would be a potential issue.. but their radiuses are longer which means that the flywheel isn't going anywhere.
  6. if you use XT6 backing plates to move the caliper futher outboard, you'll lose grip on the rotor. I don't know what has to be done to fix this but I think I've read about it before somewhere.. good luck! http://ultimatesubaru.org/forum/search.php?searchid=370570
  7. That's an awesome idea.. make a post in the help & suggestions forum and you'll get some people on board.
  8. call aaron's auto wrecking and run some of these questions by the guys there. http://www.aaronsauto.com.. they can at least compare the torque converters for you, maybe help with the bellhousing and wiring issues.
  9. good job... i had to point out the you're/your ESPECIALLY because it was in the last sentence of the whole thing as far as the wiring goes, I haven't finished wiring my car but you seem to have presented it as simply and straightforwardly as anyone could ask for.
  10. An intercooler might be beneficial if you're open to modding the car in that fashion. I will also vote for a 5-speed swap. Turning the engine at lower revs would be better for it in an endurance-type scenario, and the gas mileage improvement will even pay for a good chunk of the swap.
  11. remans are definitely fair to regard with skepticism... however, I have to wonder how many (front) axle failures are due more to sloppy/toasted transmission mounts rather than subpar axle quality.. if the trans mounts are old then the transmission will rock laterally more and the stress will push and pull on the axles.. no brand of axles could survive long on a trans with blown out mounts.. if your car has around 150k miles or (probably) more, changing your transmission mounts is a must, especially if you want to lift your car (raising the center of gravity exerts more leverage on all suspension parts).
  12. this is so simple... don't worry about it! If you put the transmissions next to each other, the only way to tell them apart would be by the dirt patterns. Take out the single range and put in the dual range, it'll be just like putting the singlerange back in.
  13. are you going to upgrade the rods and valvetrain? what about interference/noninterference? (a dome piston would almost certainly need to be sculpted around the valves and spark plug)..
  14. for the record i have no idea how a lift kit would affect the windshield at all.. the only thing that would change the way the wind affects the windshield would be to change the angle of the windshield to alter the wind resistance.
  15. OK: Page 3: XT6 transmissions are more desirable for street cars than offroad cars - a heavier flywheel is better for more torque at low RPMS. I suggest this adjustment: aaaaaaaaaaand all the way to page 20: "YOUR new motor" This is absolutely stellar! Thanks for your time. I can't wait for it to warm up so i can get my wagon finished.....
  16. sure will though it might be a little way out. I'm thinking about a WRX scoop though.
  17. awesome. the main reason I want to procrastinate the water cooling circuit is that I want to consider rigging a small radiator inline with the turbo W/C circuit, and integrate it with the scoop I'll be installing soonish for the intercooler I just got.
  18. It's a great excuse to pull you over if you might be "sketchy", and it's also a great 2nd ticket to write if you get pulled over for something ticket-worthy by itself, so don't do anything to deserve getting pulled over and you'll likely be fine. If you do get pulled over, it might be the case that you had installed covers but they may have recently been stolen. If the officer believes that you are telling him this honestly, he may decline to ticket you for it.
  19. actually, Corky, you may not have heard of the double-intake technique.. it's similar to the Joe Cell in that it looks impossible but supposedly isn't (but only when no-one's looking). How's that Joe Cell coming along, B? heheh also this is going into a 4" lifted brat so clearance shan't be an issue.. and if it is, that's what hood scoops/power bulges are for!
