  1. Yes, I would also use a 1mm gasket or something to keep dust and crap out of the starter/bellhousing gap. good call.
  2. the answer is yes! but I don't know if 14" wheels are compatible, they might present clearance issues. I *think* Legacies do have 25-spline axles. You can use the XT6 spindles... common practice is to keep the spindles and rotors matched, and the brakes (of course) normally match the spindles. My situation is as () follows: Got Legacy parts car. Kept Legacy spindles, rotors, axles from parts car. Performed 5-lug swap using junkyard XT6 control arms in front. (the ball joint is the same for XT6es and early Legacies) Didn't research interchangeability of brake calipers. Got the front calipers from the junkyard XT6. Bought brand new Legacy KYB GR2s for the front suspension (with WRX springs!) Found out that the XT6 caliper brackets don't fit the Legacy knuckles. New GR2s don't fit properly on the XT6 knuckles I dug up (thanks anyway Suberdave!) My choice was: ditch new struts and go with XT6 parts in the front end, or keep the new struts and find a way to retain the front E-brake (I'm trying to get the car back on the road, not add complications... rear e-brake is cool but = complication) I had to find out if ANY Legacy caliper brackets would accept XT6 calipers, and I lucked out. There is also a benefit in that the Legacy spindles supposedly have better bearings than the XT6es'. So now I can put the ^%$#@ wheels back on my wagon!
  3. I got some 1992 Legacy SS front brake caliper brackets.. and they accept the XT6 front brake calipers!! thanks to Blackbart for the hookup, thanks to xtturbo on xt6.net for the research! I am really glad I won't have to deal with the rear E-brake conversion... I am running 15" wheels so I don't anticipate clearance issues. I'll post a pic later this weekend.:banana:
  4. that converts to 11.11 millimeters. the exact depth of the adapter plate should be 12mm. Most people have successfully used 1/2 plate which converts to 12.7 millimeters. This of course means that your plate is kind of shallow. I don't know if that will be important. You might have clearance issues with the starter. I don't think that would interfere with the clutch. anyone else???
  5. those will both work but you have to swap in the brat glass. the hatch doors also have an extra support piece in them for crash protection.
  6. have you swapped out coilpacks? verified that the ignition switch and relay are OK? a lot of people have discovered loose ground wires causing post-EJswap problems.... good luck! ...I have an extra coil pack I could send out Monday....
  7. your design's really cool, but I can't help but think that it will render the bed of your Brat near-useless... maybe you could install it in the very front of the bed, under the window, and get air to it by making a duct for that purpose. You could 'glass up a duct in a weekend. Have a couple of scoops up on the roof that draft down the sides (next to the window so your vision and slider aren't obstructed) and to the radiator.
  8. yes they would. sometimes they'll go for a stretch without getting any EA81s or EA82s but they have some now.
  9. You'd go broke buying car batteries, and hybrid car bodies are designed to be lighter to make up for the excess weight of the batteries. I don't think it would give you a successful level of efficiency. Good thought though.

    CB radio?

you might also look for an overhead console out of a junked minivan.
  11. yes. the EGR thingers should be part of some pieces which are attached to the bottom of the heads via the exhaust studs, which means that you should be able to swap the EGR things to their correct sides.
  12. My turbo cars would do the same thing... my EA81 carby's never have.
  13. If he ever reads his PMs, then he should have gotten hooked up by now.
  14. GD snipes baccaruda for the win! ya bastid. How's the car feel when you're coasting it?
  15. hm, they say history doesn't repeat itself, but it does tend to bust a wicked rhyme once in a while.. sincerely, best of luck.
  16. uhhhh, where's the smoke coming from? and we need to know the year and style of your car. you will have to pull out the radio console and shifter console, drop the steering column, probably remove the glovebox, probably remove any and all underplastic concealing the wiring and heater, and then remove the main bolts that hold the dash to the unibody.
  17. the can actually has excellent instructions on it for just that.
  18. Lots of cars have extra coolant tees which are plugged off. I've wondered what to do with mine, perhaps running a line into the cabin for a beverage heater or steering wheel warmer or something
  19. OK, I've got it hosted now as well.. http://www.worldwidecm.com/HTKYSA.pdf (right-click & save to conserve bandwidth!)
  20. It's not an unreasonable price if it's in good shape. I will be selling mine soon and asking $3k even. Maybe more. And Brats are less rare here.
