  1. it's time to change that hose; it's the rubber on the inside of that hose getting crunchified.
  2. got me an 85k D/R 4speed and HYDRO EA81 yesterday for the low low price of absolutely nuthin'. I love being me.
  3. Maybe whoever sold you the engine overheated it and didn't tell you. That happens sometimes.
  4. you freak, he posts a supercharged brat and you pop over an alternator belt?
  5. I plan to add a second (not-so)remote switch in the tailgate itself, as well as an exterior door handle, to make my wagon more road-trippable. the wiring-in of that second switch should be a bit easier than the adding of the door handle, but I gotta be able to get out somehow and climbing out through the doors when the seats are down is a little awkward. not to mention insufficiently complicated
  6. Hey Joel... you are a true subaru samaritan! 60 hours of scanning and OCR editing sounds like the 10th circle of hell. I finally figured out the FTP for my webspace so shoot me a copy of that new and improved file to my gmail address. (this username).
  7. doesn't the legacy AWD have a viscous center diff? BeefARu has something like that in his wagon. I don't know if that's an LSD though.
  8. I have an auto flex plate now, FEI. Chris, send me your flywheel in a Flat Rate Priority box and I'll take care of it for you. Should be about $90 including return shipping.
  9. the balancing shop I went to said it was definitely out of balance. For all I know, it was *before* I had the holes milled out. The real question is, "is it enough to make a difference?" I decided that it was important enough to get it balanced.
  10. oh man. if you buy it to me and smuggle it to me in the mail piece by piece I swear I'll pay you back. seriously, I wonder if us having the VIN on hand would be helpful for finding more of these? would you be able to get the VIN for The Good Of The Board?
  11. Today, right in front of me, I saw some jackass turn left (against a NO LEFT TURNS sign) right in front of an oncoming pickup truck. I "saw" the accident that didn't happen and still can't believe that the JA didn't get his sedan plastered all over the intersection. I was thinking, "crap. late for Pizza Night After Work At The Bar, put on the hazards, call 911 while getting out of the car, see if JA is hurt, see if anyone in the truck is hurt, wait for the cops, etc etc etc, man that pizza's going to taste good...
  12. joking aside, you might get a torque wrench. since you're "only" 16, you can't have been wrenching for too long, and since you are aggressively working out, your muscle development and your lack of experience are going to make it relatively harder to develop a "mechanic's touch"..
  13. you've got that right. I'll keep an eye out..
  14. HOLY CRAP. I have a place in Spokane that quoted me $40 to mill out the holes (they charged me $50 because the shop monkey drilled them out instead of milling them, resulting in a $90 job on which they lost money) and I got it rebalanced for $30. If you can fit a flywheel in a flat Flat Rate USPS box (and I think you can!), that's roughly $100 for the whole deal, assuming I'll help you get your flywheel altered here, and I will edit: no wonder they charged you so much, Snowman.. you had a fill & redrill... I didn't have mine filled. edit edit: If I'm going to do this, I'll have to get another EJ flywheel for the match (I bought one from a local JY and returned it afterwards but this would warrant keeping one on hand at all times. I will have to see what that would cost me unless someone has one they'd be willing to part with for cheap...)
  15. I think there's a new set of these on ebay right now...
  16. nope, all you need is a lift kit (and keep the receipt and a copy of the statute in the glovebox for the nice highway patrolman).
  17. hm. from the looks of it, that could be a bike on the other one. I can't see its details but the stencil of the athlete on the door is obviously different... and of course nobody here would put it past any car manufacturer to make a custom decal for such publicity... and the red/blue scheme is sorta reversed. Get some closer pics! Preferably with a couple of bicyclists next to it so it looks like the ad.
  18. edit: misread caleb's response and wasted some sarcasm... I'll get you next time!
  19. yep. You should ask them if you can have a photo session with it!
  20. It's probably "just" one of the throwout bearing clips.
