  1. that's nice, is it fully polished? pictures are "sized" according to how much data they take up. if you save at a lesser quality, you can attach a larger pic, but they do have upper limits on size as well. try playing with http://www.imageshack.us .
  2. wow. i see lots of welding and custom axles in your future. stock up on headache medicine too (sounds cool, though, good luck)
  3. someone chopped up a gen 2 brat a while ago, and took the parts to someone to get estimates on reproducing brat parts. did anything ever result from that?
  4. simple green is great too. it's also better for your cat resolve carpet cleaner (red bottle) has done well on house carpets that i've seen, for spot stains, but I've not used it on automotive carpet before so caveat emptor.
  5. they will interchange but you'll probably raise your car rather than lower it. if you want it lowered look into having your springs modified.
  6. BeefARu has in his GL10 an RX tranny with: *4.11 gears *Forester 5th gear for highway driving (3000 RPM @ 70ish mph) *Legacy AWD differential instead of the RX locking center differential *vacuum solenoid hooked up to high/low shifter since the RX locker is gone just a suggestion
  7. mmmmm.... chocolate waterfall.... i've been so lazy with my car lately. next weekend i promise!
  8. those wheels look great. powdercoated or painted?
  9. garages are good. with the right combination of Just For Men and hair gel, you can make your Golden Retriever look like a meth-crazed wolverine. I like the razor blades welded to the stereo idea. you could also put a pull-chain switch on it and hook it up to the horn or something. i'd install a horn in the cabin of the car for that. hope your seats are "Scotchgard"ed!
  10. just pull the E-brake and take off the hub. That way you can shoot some grease into the bearings too. (hit them from the back as well)
  11. I'd say just to cut your losses and chalk it up as a life lesson - ask the mechanic about billing first. If you would feel that $200 total would have been fair (and I agree with viehmann) then it's a $200 lesson which isn't too bad in the long run. I know I've probably spent more on equally regrettable lessons. Also, the Haynes or the Chiltons - one of them at least - has the timing belt procedure WRONG. If you would like to service your car yourself, then you should get a copy of How To Keep Your Subaru Alive, 2nd Edition. They pop up on ebay from time to time.
  12. *if* legacy struts will fit impreza spindles, then you might look into a 92-94 legacy GR2 strut from KYB.. its spring perch is a little higher than some others. give them a call.
  13. personally, i'd take the $1000, fix it myself, and pocket at least $600.
  14. I've used the lucas (2 bottles) in a leaky PS rack before... it slowed the leak a little. i don't know how bad your leak is compared to mine though. is the leak from the rack or the pump or somewhere in the lines? the rack is sort of a pain to replace but not bad. the pump is easy. either should be less than $20 from a junkyard.
  15. :-\ i called about it for a friend in spokane; it has title issues..
  16. i know i'd worry.. did you get his license # just in case? do you have a starving rottweiler or two you can keep in the car? (if you slip them a mickey, you can file their teeth nice and pointy; i use a dremel, it's faster.)
  17. wow, i see deals like that and they make me wish i needed a car.
  18. i'm not so helpful when i don't post my phone # 509-263-3853
  19. you can swap in a 1995 2.2. It will plug into your 2.5's harness. contact CCR for more info. (colorado custom rebuilders)
  20. argh. we appreciate the heads-up on some nice pugs... BUT the 390 designates those as metric rims, which are prohibitively expensive to buy tires for. I can see that you're newer to the board so don't hold it against yourself. that's probably why the seller is getting rid of them. thanks though!
  21. nice.. you could bend the shifter back a couple of inches... that would clear the stereo as well as make a chopped shifter easier to reach..
  22. there have been a few hundred of these conversions done with no ill effects. your brother might be familiar with the hill-holder as i think it was available on studebakers? could be wrong. SPAM ALERT: I have two sets of rear discs available; one for 4WD and one for 2WD. 4WD-$100/ 2WD-$80 due to rust.
