i bought my wagon's clutch from a truck shop. brand is rhino. i paid an extra $100 to have a kevlar face put on the clutch disc. total was then $280ish. it's always done fine but I don't really hardcore my car either.

well, the fuse is either near the convertible motor equipment, under the hood, or in the passenger compartment. if it's near the CVT stuff it should be easy to find. if it's in the pass. compartment, it's either added to the stock fuse box (which should be simple to determine by what shouldn't be there) or somewhere under the seats and carpet perhaps. if it's in the engine bay, try comparing your car to other subarus of the same vintage and see what equipment is unique to yours. you are in uncharted territory, and future subaru convertible owners are depending on you!

you need a three point niner back there. assuming that's what you had, since it's different from the known 3.7, then the differential was probably correct for the car and didn't hurt anything on the way out. maybe it ran out of fluid or something.. if your trans feels OK after putting in a new 3.9 diff, then you'll know it's OK.

Hi, first i'd like to brag that I got a set of brat bed seats! very slight cracking which will fill in nicely with some black epoxy, and then I'll probably coat them with POR-15 if I find that the stuff works OK on plastic. I'm interested in any and all trick ways to mount these in your brat bed. I'm trying to dream up either some sort of lockable clamp type system so I don't have to unscrew anything to get them out fast, or maybe ditching the stock frame and getting a metal "car-stuff box" made that they could sit on, with the hinge toward the rear, and then a clevis pin setup or something under the lid?

i saw your brat in your photo album, what a great looking car! make sure the E-brake cable is properly free of the new axle you put in or else it could half-activate the caliper and cause that noise on the turn... the clanging is weird. does it do it when the car is still and in neutral, or when moving, or turning, stopping, etc? can you feel the clang or just hear it? jack up the front end again (block the rear wheels) and test the steering.. you might turn it on and put it in gear while jacked up but be very careful, stay out from under it and make sure the jacks and chocks are very secure. make sure your lugnuts are all properly tight (i missed that once ) you mentioned an odd hub on one side? that might haev something to do with it. check the cone washer and the curved washer under the axle nut. the curved washer should be marked OUT on one side. if it's not marked i think the concave side goes toward the cone washer. if the cone and curved washer are worn, change them with new ones. got enough grease in your bearings? good luck!

sorry to hear that. i lost my first gray turbowagon to an idiot driver. you may be "entitled' to a rental car until you settle your claim. go to the doctor and perhaps also a chiropractor soon. maybe you could get a massage paid for as well you might be able to get $3k but it'll be a longer fight. your best bet, as stated above, is to find comparable cars (of the highest value possible) to validate your estimate of your car's former value. as you're using the internet as a resource, some that you find will undoubtedly be out of the area. the insurance company will claim that regional variances mean that prices out of your area are irrellevant. tell them that if you have to travel out of the area to replace your car, then they ARE relevant, and now that you think of it, if you have to travel, you want them to pay for it too (don't push it, that's just to scare them). are there any car lots that sell a lot of older subies in your area? ask them if they'd help by providing any info they can. you can always tell them you're retaining a lawyer, but if you aren't, it'll look silly when you don't have a lawyer's name to give them.. because you know they'll call your lawyer if you have one. mostly they're going to try to wait you out. good luck.

nice. i'll bet he made it 20 feet. i was driving on a 2 lane road wide enough for 4 but stiill, only two. some $%^#$% in a 70s jaguar rolled up next to me at the light after passing two other cars. i chose that as an excellent excuse to put the brat in 4wd and beat him off the line at the green.. two wrongs DO make a right, after all. apparently having a mullet and a jaguar make you feel as if you own the road! i have to wonder if that makes losing off the line to a brat a little bitter. he tried to pass me a couple of times but somehow there wasn't quite enough room (heh) so then he went into the wrong lane and passed, against oncoming traffic. what a jerk. after that i felt bad for bringing out the jerk in him, because of the oncoming traffic. which reminded me "why i don't street race."

i haven't seen hose clamps narrow enough to fit on the boot properly yet - although i haven't looked at HD as you suggest. I thought that the inner boot on the passenger's side wouldn't clear the exhaust or something with a hose clamp on it? obviously not a problem for my turbowagon, i have my brat in mind here...
