carefull with that credit card, i've been trying to conquer mine for years

yeah, get some snap ring pliers and some new axle boots and go to the junkyard, make a couple of new axles. the tool for the boot clamps is around $30 i think, but it will pay for itself in the long run.

rainX doesn't help too much if your windshield has too much wind pitting, but it's a good idea, i know i forget that i have a bottle of the stuff is there a way to put intermittent wipers in a DL brat? will the switch and wiring from an EA82 work?

can you still feel this noise? other things to check would be having the E-brake line properly routed around the halfshaft... sloppy control arm bushing, tie rod, or ball joint... tranny low on fluid (doubt that) or, maybe it's time for a brake job! the pads are designed to make noise when they get low.

hey Tim, thurs (today already? heh) sounds good. i'm very busy this weekend as my mother is getting married but nights are easy. i'll give you a shout. -
i would like to get a rollbar for my brat and i'm interested in the long bar type on your silver brat. seems like it might accept a small canvas roof over the jumpseat area. is it a stock subaru bar or where is it from? thanks!

hi there.. i'm local but i don't have anything good for sale (a turbowagon with a half blown motor is as close as i can get).. just thought i'd say hi. i'll keep an eye out for you. -
It's officially an RX wagon!

did you get the RX strut rods (& other suspension)? -
where's the video of the guy at the car show who "VTEC'ed his mustang"? *cell phone rings* hold on, maybe that's my VTEC rep..."

2 questions about power steering
baccaruda replied to TheMeatWagon's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
actually you do bleed it. you do this by turning the wheel (medium speed) back and forth between its stops a few times to let any air in the circuit get to the top. (of course the engine has to be running) and it's easier on a loose traction surface. -
you're not just insane, you're crazy! If I owned such a car as you're describing, Will, I'd show up with it at Subaru's USA HQ and ask for a job building rallye cars... just an idea! "resume? i drove my resume here. step outside with me!"

w00000t!!!! Good News about my turbowagon
baccaruda replied to Hondasucks's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
cool, hopefully my turbowagon will fare as well when i get around to teardown! good luck with the XT6 flywheel. -
i'd suggest that you be more specific. i'm guessing that you have a 1985 or later sedan or wagon, and are talking about the rear suspension bump stops? we'd need to know why yours are off. did you remove them? i've had a bump stop rust off for instance. too much info is better than not enough

What do you guys think about this???
baccaruda replied to dustyrider's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
heh, that's the trick, making it sound easy considering it an investment is not the best course as you will never recoup the time and labor put into it. I'm saying that you can put in the rear 4WD stuff before the rest, as opposed to at the same time. i'm thinking of saving time. just leave the driveshaft out and the rear end will roll along. then you can do the double conversion later, but if you do the conversion first, you'll have to put in the rear end stuff at the same time because otherwise you'd either leak oil from the trans where the driveshaft yoke is missing, or you'd put in the driveshaft yoke and have the rear end of that flopping around while you drive.... no thanks! If this car is all you can find, then this project would be very inviting, and a mint body is worth some consideration.... but you might be able to find something already equipped if you wait a little longer. you are in a good area for subarus, after all. -
finally got my photo gallery rolling!

cool. you have the same car as I do, minus my frankenstein treatment to the suspension and driveline. i used to have those same wheels too -

simple advice...(updated w/ pics)
baccaruda replied to nutt7's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
heh. i didn't mean to be TOO sarcastic. I really hope it works in the long run for you, and I think it looks like a cool enough idea that it deserves to. i can see how it sort of suggested itself with the holes in the TB gear. Best of luck! -
sure, if the transmission has it you also need the wiring for the switch for the lock, and the vacuum solenoid for the lock. it's right next to the driver's side strut tower, it looks like two black plastic photo film containers with some green plastic nipples and some vacuum hoses.
