  1. I noticed you're from PA. If possible try the Lancaster County Motors on Route 72. That's where I went and they did honor the warranty although they made sure I understood it was a "LIMITED" lifetime warranty. Mine's a '98. It may be true that it is only for '95's and newer.
  2. Good news. I went to the dealer. They looked at the condition of the belt and agreed that they would replace it no charge. You'ld be hard pressed to get that kind of safety committment from most other manufacturers.
  3. Hi. I have a great '98 OB wagon. Love it! A real trooper. My driver side seat belt is begining to shread, I think from wearing against velcro closures on my coat. Anyway... where can I get a replacement belt and is there any trick to replacing it?
  4. The CV boots on the front drive axles of my '98 Legacy OBW is split. From prices I've gathered locally and on the web there would be about $100 difference between replacing all the boots and replacing the drive axle. I guess the amount of work required would be about the same. Should I just replace the drive axle and get it over with or would it be better to keep the original part until it failed?
  5. You guys are the BEST! Changed out the tranny fluid and the shuddering disappeared like magic. I haven't checked the tire sizes yet. On that point, am I looking at wheel diameter or circumference? One post mentions diameter and one mentions circumference. Either way I guess I'll be buy tires four at a time now.
  6. Thanks for the tip. I gave it a try and the studdering problem goes away. Now my question is "Why?" If the fuse forces it into front wheel drive why would that eleviate the problem rather than making it more pronounced? Also, how long can I run it in FWD and, of course, what is my next step? New tranny?
  7. My 1998 Legacy Outback has recently started shuddering when pulling out from a dead stop but only with the wheels turned to either side. My guess is that this is being caused by the CV joints or knuckle joints on the drive axles. As a result I am planning on replacing the drive axles. Do you agree with this assesment? Thanks for your time.
