You are correct sir. I had to look up fluid at 'dictionary.com'. Edumicate me! The pressure is determined by the size of the pulley on the supercharger. " Q: How do you change the boost? A: On any belt driven blower, such as the Powerdyne, you can change the amount of boost by changing the size of the pulley on the blower. The smaller the pulley the faster the blower runs and the more boost it makes. Currently Powerdyne offers two boost levels, a six pound unit and a 9 pound unit." Check out these supercharger FAQs for some information. http://www.powerdyne.com/tech.htm http://www.theoldone.com/sc/faq.html

Ran my RX at the drag strip
Myxalplyx replied to Forkspear's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Nope! You couldn't get closer to sea level then where I was at. They are 93ft above sea level. No need to compare unless you are as bad a driver as I am. Again, I just need to work on my driving skills. I know what I need to do. -
I'm an idiot! Now that I got that out of the way, I'll ask this. I thought that pressure INCREASES when you go to a smaller pipe. I thought this applied to not only fluids (Like a fuel pressure regulator) but gases as well (like exhaust pipes). So in your case, I would've thought that if it was only a factor of going from the supercharger to a smaller pipe within the intercooler that boost pressure would increase. This is not taking into account the 'restrictions' inside of the intercooler itself. The 'restrictions' inside of the intercooler I'd say would cause you to loose boost pressure.

Ran my RX at the drag strip
Myxalplyx replied to Forkspear's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
This is VERY interesting information. First off, that maf sensor you are speaking of plugs right into our stock Maf sensor harness. This is what you are stating right? Has anyone tried this already? I'd love to try it out before turning up the boost. It would be interesting to see what performance gain/loss could be had with stock boost settings and just a change in the Maf sensor housing. I never checked to see if the RX turbo and XT6 has the same type of maf sensor plug. If they do and the Nissan maf sensor plugs into the XT6s maf sensor wiring, I will thank you a million times over. I've been looking for something like this for a while. http://www.xt6.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1862&highlight=svx+maf+sensor Now onto the fuel injector. Our stock fuel injectors are rated at 245cc. There's no point into going to a fuel injector that flows at 259ccs. I'd think something larger would be in order. On another related note, congrats on your 1/4 mile times, especially at your altitude. With my current mods, I was only able to muster a lousy 19.2 @ 75mph the one and only time I ran my RX turbo at the dragstrip recently. I'm a lousy driver and my 60ft time was 2.8 so that says a lot. Plus, I shift slower than my grandmother. I don't care though. I was more interested in my trap speed and was somewhat disappointed. My Outback Sport wagon traps at that speed with less hp. I got work to do.... -
I would love to have this done to one of my XT6s. I hope you guys are successful with it.

EA82T water pump mods????
Myxalplyx replied to Frank B's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Wouldn't going to a colder thermostat achieve what you are looking for (more coolant flow)? I mean, no matter how much extra pumping power your coolant pump can achieve, the flow will be determined by the stock thermostat right? Maybe I'm confused.......... -
This is awesome All_Talk! Congrats! I was a little concerned about the oil pressure as well until I read through the whole thread.

ea82T performence mods?
Myxalplyx replied to subarugsr's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Call Techworks for performance. http://www.techworkseng.com/ Purchase their header and downpipe for your EA82T. I did both and also purchaseda GT17 turbo from them. With the boost still at stock levels, here is the before and after results. You may likey! This is with an intercooler included. Whatever you do, get yourself and intercooler first and foremost. The stocks air temps are HOT. -
Altitude can play a part. Otherwise, get a full tune up (change spark plugs, wires, disty, coil). Change your fuel filter. Change your air filter. It should go above then.

I have no proof. My memory is foggy and I can not remember if the box it came in stated it was a higher flowing unit. I did dyno the car afterwards and it didn't seem to hurt the power delivery. I do remember asking for a high flowing cat instead of the OEM one and that is what I ended up with.

Fuel Cut Bandaid for the masses (87+ EA82T)
Myxalplyx replied to Subarutex's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Subarutex, I plan on getting this installed this weekend. Hopefully, I can get an electronic boost controller installed as well. All that would be left is an upgraded clutch like Will had and some bigger fuel injectors. A fuel injector controller would be perfect if I could get the right settings off someone. Then the EA82T boost gods will rejoice. Must bump this post. I don't want to forget about it. -
Nice! "Here are the pistons. I also had them throw in new upper connecting rod bearings. They cost abour $20. The rings were included in the order as well as new pins and clips. Piston's were machined to spec by RAM. These are forged EA82 pistons with clearance scollops machined in. The pin hole is .5mm lower then on a stock ER27 piston. See my comments on compression ratio of this engine. Here are the pistons. I also had them throw in new upper connecting rod bearings. They cost abour $20. Gareth, Here's something I purchased from Autozone for my RX Turbo. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=29648&highlight=cat+converter For your wagon, I'd go to a 2" for better low end or a 2.25" for better overall performance. Try searching an autozone for a part # close to this one but in a smaller size. The one pictured is 2.5". Here's what it looked like after being installed and sprayed with high temp paint. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=29957&page=1&highlight=cat+converter Gary, That 3" cat converter is what I had already from a turbokit that I purchased off of 'Eric Witte' for that failed turbo XT6 job. Luckily, it did not seem to hurt the low end at all on the XT6. Kinda fascinating, wouldn't you say ole chap? (where that come from? )

Turbo Palooza or My Turbo Farm

If you aren't in a rush to do anything to any of them in particular, keep them all. Work on one at a time. -
Any Subaru Justy owners here trying to get rid of their Justy? What are you looking to get for it? Are you willing to trade and XT6 for it that has a cracked windshield and an oil leak? Just curious! PM me...........

Holding up an Intercooler
Myxalplyx replied to Myxalplyx's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
This is excellent! Thanks all for your replies. These pieces are what I need. This is something that I need. Where can I get those pieces? What are they called? Looks like rubber would be in contact with the intercooler to hold them up. Can you fab these pieces and sell them? -
I believe this same guy goes by 'RedDevil' at the NASIOC site. He has a few posts up about his supercharger setup. Here is one of the threads about it: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=605625&highlight=supercharger

This post is for those that have installed an intercooler on their EA81Ts and EA82Ts. What did you folks do to get your intercooler to hold up instead of falling down? I need my intercooler to sit higher so that it's almost flush with the back of the hood (a little room allowed for engine movement). As it sits now, it keeps falling backward and the air won't be forced to go through it (at least not as much as I'd like). Any advice?

Update: The XT6 is MINE! ALL MINE!
Myxalplyx replied to SuBrat84's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Nah! FWD XT6 ways in around 2800lbs (I tare weighed mine on a ISO calibrated scale and this is what I got). An AWD XT6 should weigh in around 2950lbs or thereabouts. -
If you could get a fuel controller, use it. You could control your fuel injectors at a specific rpm. So if you fuel pressure is a little to high for low end boost, you can taper back how far your fuel injectors flow with the fuel controller. I have been unsuccessful trying to get two different fuel controllers to work (Hyper fuel SFC and Apexi SAFC). If you could get the Apexi SAFC to work, that would be great. I had trouble setting the correct Sensor Calc and Sensor Number settings. No-one could help me, including Apexi USA and Japan. Only do these things if you get a higher flowing fuel pump and fuel injectors that are not more than 277cc. I pick 277cc because it is up to 50% higher than the stock 185cc XT6 fuel injector. Beyond that would be outside the realm of your fuel controller.

Congrats on your purchase. Come to the 'Dark Side' when you get a chance (Darth Vader breathing). http://www.xt6.net -
No! They are not the same injectors. I took before and after pics of the RX turbo fuel injectors when I got them cleaned and I can not find them. I knew I should've uploaded it but I think I decided not to because I didn't think anyone cared. I'll keep looking. Edit: I couldn't find the NEW pics I took but I did post an old pic up of them. This pic is on the 3rd page of this thread. The 1st and 3rd pics is off of my 1.8ltr RX turbo. The pic is fuzzy because it's off of my old digital camera. I do know that they both have different flow rates. See my post where I show the results of having both of them cleaned at RC Engineering. The XT6 injectors are 185cc units while the RX turbo are 245cc units. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=35326&page=2&pp=10&highlight=fuel+injector
