  1. Hey all, I'd like to purchase a 2.5" Dynomax turbo muffler for my RX Turbo. I like the Dynomax brand because of I saw their benefits with my XT6s and I LOVE their sound. My question is, does anyone know what specific model of Dynomax muffler I can purchase that will fit in where the stock exhaust muffler is? I'd like to order this muffler within the next two hours. Thanks! BTW: I saw a cheap Cherry Bomb muffler at Autozone that I could get but I didn't like the way the inside diameter was shaped. It had 'louvered' (sp?) core piping inside. I remember reading in a magazine how this affects exhaust flow so I tend to stay away from mufflers with internals built that way. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
  2. No! The XT6 is the fastest and most powerful Subaru from the 80's.
  3. http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html I use this all the time.
  4. This is interesting! So you are saying that a turbocharged version of the Loyale is lighter than a comparable GL10 vehicle (like a 4 door GL10 Loyale vs a 4 door 1986 GL10). Hrrmmm! How much do Loyales weigh anyways? Edit: Just found this on 'Joe Spitz' site. "WEIGHT (lbs)- curb weight: AWD Wagon - 2,635, AWD sedan - manual 2,490, auto 2,510 Front wheel drive: Wagon manual 2,490, auto 2,510, Sedan - manual 2,355, auto 2,395" An AWD sedan is only 2490lbs. Hrrmmmm! FWD manual is 2355lbs. Hrmm, hrmmmm! Thanks!
  5. You have some 'underground' peeps who feel the same way as you. A turbocharged Loyale I'd think would be desirable. Don't sweat it. It is what it is. Start a forum about the Loyale and they will come.
  6. I posted this up in another thread but figured it'd be easier to find in its own thread. Autozone has an aftermarket catalytic converter you can use. "I went to an Autozone store to see if they had any 2.5" catalytic converters. To my surprise, they had one and it was EXACTLY what I was looking for. It's a 2.5" unit on both ends, it's about 14" long and it only costs $59.99. The part# for this cat converter is: 38604. If anyone is looking for a cat converter for a TWE install or another install, this one looks like it may be a winner. I'm overjoyed I don't have to get a Random Tech or other. " Perhaps Autozone have a smaller diametered version of this cat in 2.25" or 2.00".
  7. Sure! It's worth a try. I only need a touch of it though. Just enough to get 3 layers or so between the two. It's something to consider. I'm wondering it it'll eat through by vibration after a period of time. Meanwhile, I just got back from shopping with the wife. I did manage to get to an Autozone store to see if they had any 2.5" catalytic converters. I bet if I sold this for $150 online, I could make a killing. I hope this info helps someone else if they are looking for a cat converter in the future.
  8. Hey guys, Well, I tripled/quadrupled check all of my hoses, fittings and such. Had to redo a few vacuum lines, add a gasket to the oil feed line and redo a coolant-turbo line just for extra measure. Started the car up and there were no visible leaks. There was some smoke but it seemed to be from the previous oil leak I had at the turbo inlet. Car revved fine and sounds ok. I don't have a cat converter, midpipe or muffler on it yet. The stock cat and muffler is still attached but separated from the downpipe. Ok....now a couple of things that have been brought up that I'll point out for those that may purchase the kit (or who has already gotten it). It's been said that the turbo is moved up and back a few inches or so. This may cause a problem with the ability for you to close your hood. Notice how high my air filter and maf sensor is. Fortunately for me, someone added a 'vent' on the hood on the passenger side. I'm going to remove this and try to install a WRX bonnet hood scoop there for the air filter. Hopefully, it'll allow the air filter that little bit of extra room so it won't contact the hood. Also, what has been brought up repetitively is the power steering lines. My header comes into contact with it. I noticed smoke coming right where they contact at. There is a piece of cloth material there that was previously there to shield the power steering lines. I'm going to remove it but I want to bend/twist the power steering lines out of the way of the header. This is going to sound cheesy but I must ask. What did/would you guys use to bend these lines? It isn't easy to bend like this. Maybe I haven't tried hard enough. I'm going to get going on that the next time I work on the car. I'm out today to see if I can get a 2.5" cat converter from Autozone or something. That's all for now.
  9. Sawwy Garner! I tinkered with a ton of rubber hoses earlier today. To my amazement, I cranked the car and it started. While waiting for something to blow, oil started pouring out of the turbo's oil inlet. I shut the car down and retrieved a good bit of kitty litter to stop the flow of oil. I remember worrying about the oil inlet and coolant inlet/outlet lines. I was extra careful to make them nice and snug but not too tight. My questions: 1: What torque am I supposed to apply tothe oil inlet bolt? 2: How many of those metal o-ring gaskets are there supposed to be on the oil inlet bolt? I only have one installed if I remembered right but I'm thinking I'm supposed to have two. 1 between the bolt and the oil feed line and one between the oil feed line and the turbo. Bare with me folks. I've never done anything like this before so I'm just being extra careful. Looks like the car is pretty much done though.
  10. This install has been a pain in the booty for me. I had to add multiple fittings and such for all the vacuum, oil, coolant lines that were too short or to long. I enjoyed it though. I tried too crank the car up and to my shock, disbelief and amazement................it started. I waited and waited to see if SOMETHING would happen and it did. An oil waterfall came out of the turbo's oil inlet point. I shut it down and called it quits. I'll be working on it tomorrow. I'm posting a question about this in the installation thread. Big boxer sound though. I still do not have a cat converter, exhaust pipe or muffler. I'll work on this when all my fittings are tight and secure and nothing is leaking ANYWHERE. Too be continued!
  11. I'm getting sleepy! That car would be perfect for me. Brilliant!
  12. I just picked up a V-clamp today for the intake. I'll go downstairs and clamp it on now. After this, there's ONE last thing I have to do and it should be 'runable'. Actually, I want to install a manual boost controller. I'll make a new post about it because I suck (Teh Newb). *&^% Now I can't find my brand new boost controller.
  13. I believe so. http://www.subaru-global.com/about/history/1984-001.html "The Subaru Justy was launched in February 1984. In 1987, the Justy was fitted with an advanced automatic transmission system: the world's first electro-continuously variable transmission called the Subaru ECVT."
  14. I know this is an old thread and all but I 'think' I noticed something about this engine but I must ask. Is the Justy's engine closed deck from the factory? This looks to be a closed deck design but perhaps I've read what a closed deck design is the wrong way. :-\ I don't see any coolant passages directly around the outside of the pistons. I thought this would make for an open deck engine in which most N/A cars are.
  15. Doesn't matter on my end. You get a Maf adapter and air filter that's a direct fit for $21.00 or so. I consider that a steal. Unless someone else can point to a specific part# for an adapter and air filter from 'insert stores here' that's cheaper.
  16. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=10607&highlight=turbo+justy You want more resources? Post here: http://subarujusty.proboards20.com/ I'll see you there. BTW: DumbUglyDragon, change the title of your post to include 'Justy' if you could. It'll make it easier to find months/years down the road when someone else asks the same question as you or if you want to use it as a resource.
  17. Well, all you'd have to do is re-tap, bore and stroke new spark plug holes. Then the displacement of the spark plug would increase so a bigger Bosch spark plug could be used. We all know a bigger spark equals more power from a more complete combustion.
  18. Excellent! That's a good deal. I'm glad someone purchased this and simply stated they had no modifications and only needed screws. Yeah, post pics when you can. This is good info! You got it nice and cheap too. You must've received the product pretty quickly as well since bidding ended on the 1-18 (6 days ago).
  19. Ah Will! The cup is half full or half empty. Perhaps it's just an uppipe with the header eliminated.
  20. Glad you are ok. That sucks! Just read about this at the XT6.net site.
  21. Caboobaroo, I can understand why you feel the way you do. There was a post a while back with someone here who had a custom header designed for their EA82T and was going to get back to people with more info about it. It was either a custom header or a downpipe. I'll keep searching until I find it then I'll post about it. I'm thankful that the TechWorks (TWE) header is ONLY $400 for the way it's made. I still can't believe they made these things. Looking at the header for a 2.5RS costing $700+ from them brings tears to my eyes that I got it. Remember, it's not just a header. It's a header and an uppipe combined. A two for one deal! Good luck! I'm interested in seeing how this turns out.
  22. Hey OddComp, Is there anyone else using this setup and driving around with it as a daily driver without any issues?
