  1. Hey Will, Nice looking car and I really like your intercooler setup. That's beautiful! Simple and effective! I think I'm gonna cry. I need to put one one.
  2. I just posted a really long post answering your question and it went poof and I couldn't recover it. Yes, a quicker shifting tranny will help your transmission last much longer. Heat is what generally kills autotrannys. You make the most heat by letting the clutchpacks engage slowly rather than quick and firm. This is why modified valve bodies and shift kits are sold. It serves just this purpose. I wanted to point you to some article on this. Trust me though, it saved my Outback Sport tranny's life by getting a valve body and tranny cooler. These things helped reduce transmission temps and the tranny is still running strong.
  3. :-\ Our cars can be fitted with Honda coil springs? Wow! What year/model or part#? What Subarus does it fit?
  4. All the automatic cars you drive shift with a noticable jerk if you just floor it? I need to be driving all the cars you do. I actually have my autotranny's valvebody modified to do just that instead of shifting slowly and burning up my clutchpacks.
  5. I would hope so. I'll be calling them tomorrow (giving them rest of today to send the right files). *shrug* Looks like the site the pics are at is down. :-\
  6. So I guess this is going to be THE setup to look for if you are going with a modified EA82-T, right? Just asking and trying to do my homework.
  7. Are you talking about this thread?http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=26031&page=1&pp=10&highlight=clutches If so, here is a quote about Centerforce---> So a Centerforce setup would put me out of the loop.
  8. My situation was $$$. I even had a website with a diary of a turbo XT6. It just never happened. And Dave of ProECM has a turbocharged XT6 already. He's just quiet as kept (whatever the kept part means). :-\ I'm retarded!
  9. I would but it's cold and rainy outside. I don't have enough hair on my chest to keep me warm and the rain off me. Awe man, I just got these tires about a month ago. I'll get this checked out sooner than I thought. How much are new wheel bearings anyways? Part #? I see a kit for my car for $15.70 at ThePartsBin.com.
  10. Hey Caboobaroo, Can you give more details on this? I mean, where are you getting the stage 2 racing clutch from? Is the stage 2 racing clutch a racing clutch for use with the XT6 flywheel or is this just an idea? I had planned on using the XT6 flywheel with an XT6 clutch kit so this is why I wanted to know. Thanks!
  11. I got the RX Turbo dyno'd yesterday testing out the Garner pulley. However, it seems that the files may have been lost. The runs I had burned on a CD (and sent to me) were exactly the same ones I had done back in early November. I was looking to see the difference in hp/torque with the pulley installed. There's a sound coming from my wheel area. This is something that may have affected my runs as well. I'll get this looked at and fixed soon. I hope the dyno operator finds the files. *sniffle* RX Turbo on dyno 2nd Pic The Garner Pulley installed
  12. Ok, what does it mean to hear a deep humming sound coming from my wheel area when I turn the wheel sharply? Also, there's this 'Wooh, WOOH, Wooh, WOOH' (Not from the internet muffler whistle video ) sound as I'm driving along. It goes in synch with the wheels as I'm driving. The sound has gotten louder recently. It hasn't caused any drivability problems but I notice it.
  13. Congrats! Now it'll give me an opportunity to catch up mod wise and pass you. muhahaha! Muhahaha! MUHAHAHA!
  14. Nah, I'm not part of the group buy. I paid for it via credit card so no waiting for checks to clear. My order may possibly be shipped out this week however I expect delays. A couple of things have to be modified for my order to be complete. I already confirmed this with Tom but I knew this going into it. I'm hoping to have it before Xmas.
  15. That is a nice looking RX. Mine has a fair bit of runst underneath. Good score!
  16. There are some EJ22 (2.2ltr) engines (like my 1997 2.2ltr Impreza) that have 135hp. The XT6 has 145hp/156lb-ft stock.
  17. That can happen sometimes when a lot of bacteria builds up.
  18. I am officially dubbing this pulley the 'Garner Pulley' mod. The pulley is now installed. It's night time now so I'm sorry there are no pics of it. It looks odd in the engine bay since it's the only shiny thing in there amongst all the dirty surroundings. I was really meaning to go to the dyno today at Xotic Motorsports since every Saturday is dyno day. However, I had to take my wife and son shopping (the both of them ) and there was no time left. First impressions! Well, I burned my clutch just before breaking my axles. J/K Seriously, throttle response seems to be improved. Acceleration in 1st and 2nd gear seems to jump to 'redline' (My personal redline is 5500rpm...remember my dyno plots? Hehe). 5th gear pulls on the highway seems to be noticably improved. I've noticed nothing negative about the pulley at all. Remember, it's not undersized so your stock belts can be used. It seems that taking off from a dead stop is slightly harder. I don't trust my judgments on any of this stuff because: #1 These are the things I expect and was looking for (and want, #2 I've only been driving a manual since owning the car and I just got it not too long ago. However, I'm being really modest about the findings guys. It feels like what I'd expect after putting an exhaust on. It just seems freer revving and wants to get up to speed much better. I'm going to throw doubt out there being the pessimist and skeptic I am. I am happy that I got it though. *Holding giggles inside* Very happy! I'll try to get to a dyno (99% chance I will since I can't wait...I need to know the result NOW) and I'll post the difference I get vs my last dyno run that I am using as a baseline. I'll post the results in a different thread. Stay Tuned! Here are some snapshots of my rusty stock pulley. Isn't it pretty? Here's a picture of the weight difference of my stock pulley vs the Garner pulley. The Stock pulley is 3lbs 13.9oz (or 61.9oz). The Garner pulley is 1lb 1.8oz (or 17.8oz). You can expect to shave 2.77lbs (or 44.1oz). Please correct my calculations if I'm wrong. Not bad at all! Kudos to Garner for a job well done. Here's a pic of the stock pulley's weight.
  19. Nope! There were full time XT6s with an autotranny that came with a 3.70 final drive ratio. I have one!
  20. Not to get off track with this subject but I thought Paeco was just a one man operation. Everytime I used to call there, the same guy answered and it was his business. :-\ So I always assumed that Paeco Industries is basically a distributor. He just has good resources. I know I could be way off though. Even their website seems to have remained the same for ages. http://www.paeco.com/ Sort of like how Mike Shields used to do it with SPD Tuning (if he isn't still doing it).
  21. Just so you all know, Garner (Member name 'Garner') made this pulley for me. I'm going to try to get it installed today. If so, pics will follow. I paid ..........awe man. I'm not allowed to say. You can ask Garner though for all the details if he could make you one. Also, I just thought of something. Those of us who are upgrading our turbos to a slightly bigger (or just bigger) unit, it should help in getting rid of turbo lag just a little. I mean, it's supposed to be lighter and freer revving so it should help the motor get up to speed just a tad quicker.
