Bingo! This wagon was 2nd in an autox, rallyx or something 'x' series not to long ago, beating out a multitude of WRXs. Tom has since sold the wagon. Only reason why I brought this up is because I was asking Tom today if they had anything in the works for us old schoolers. He even stated there have been a good bit of people asking for an XT6 header. So I told him to add me to the list. Now that would be the shizzle.

Guys, Call Paul Eklund of Primitive Enterprises up. http://www.writerguy.com/primitive/ I could've sworn that a while back Mike (Paisan) purchased an upgraded clutch kit for his XT6 from him. It's been a while and my memory is rusty but that's where it leads.

I've done a little bit of searching and couldn't find much here. For the folks that have an aftermarket crank pulley installed on their EA81T or EA82T, what have you noticed about the affect of it? Looking on Unorthodox Racing's site (http://www.unorthodoxracing.com/dyno.html), the turbocharged cars seem to gain a favorable amount of hp and torque throughout their powerband. I plan on testing the affects of a ProECM pulley on my AWD XT6 (my FWD XT6 has an Unorthodox Racing Pulley but I never tested the stock one in comparison) on a dyno....whenever I get time. Meanwhile, I just received a beautiful pulley for my RX Turbo that was custom made by someone here (if you are reading this, show yourself if you want ). Maybe I'm late on the bandwagon and a bunch of people have already bought pulleys from you. The quality of the pulley looks to be outstanding. I can't say it's light because I don't know what a stock EA82T pulley weighs. Do any of you do or can you weigh one? I plan on getting the before and after affects of this pulley on my RX turbo also. I'm trying to figure out if I can get the RX pulley installed and dyno'd tomorrow. I doubt it but I'm going to try. Wish me luck! This pulley weighs in at 1lb 1.8oz. Here are a couple of pics I took of it. 1lb 1.8oz (I wonder what the stock pulley weight is and the amount of savings).

Why the VF12? Are our stock ones VF7s?

Good questions! I'm not the one to ask them though. You have these guys (http://techworkseng.com/). I'm just saying they've had some success with the cams that they've designed. If there is enough interest in them, then perhaps they'll make a custom batch or something. I'm just throwing it out there. Where it goes is up to da folks here. I know if I want some, I'll ask for a price, ask for what to expect and go with it and see what happens. I'm not ready for them yet though. :-\ There's always Deltacams as well. I'm still curious as to just how good are Delta cams on the RX turbo. I mean...some hard numbers (track for instance). All I need to know about the Techwork's cams are how good or bad they work (when I'm ready for them) performance wise. I know where to go for testing them out.

-----> May be coming to a theater near you. These will be cams (or camshafts) for the EA82 and EA82-T cars. The 'master' cam is already made. It's just a matter of how much or bad you want a batch(s) made. Just letting ya know.

I've always read about this in magazines before they began a project on some older vehicles. I'm in this process as of now. Even little things like oil leaks and such.....get everything running in tip-top shape. It may seem like hell and you want to have fun now but it'll pay off big time once the mods come later rather than sooner. Also, I have this thing I call 'smart mods'. Things like purchasing an oil cooler, tranny cooler, intercooler, professional fuel injection cleaning, synthetic oil, etc. All these things aren't necessarily power adders (well, an intercooler works wonders) but it helps big time in preserving your engine, tranny and other stuff. Once the boost starts going up, things that may have been a major problem (like heat in the tranny, engine bay area, etc) is kepted in check or significantly reduced. You'll be thanking yourself for doing things like this, especially after watching someone else just start turning up boost and letting it rip. Just some thoughts!

An RX would be crushed. Alot slower I'd say. I'm talking high 16 second 1/4 mile vs 18-19 second 1/4 mile (for RX turbo). An RX would be even slower. :-p A closer competitor would be a manual trannied RX turbo. Even still, a manual trannied RX turbo would get the can-oh-whoop-arse. I have both and it's no comparison. And I REALLY like the RX turbo. It just doesn't have the low end torque. My FTWD RX weighs around 2700 while the autotrannied AWD XT6 weight just over 2900lbs. Even with the weight difference, by the time the turbo spools up, the XT6 is gone. I'll show you what I mean stock for stock. These are hp and torque graphs of my stock AWD auto XT6 and stock RX turbo FTWD. Pay no mind to the bottom line in the graphs as the AWD XT6 was dyno'd in FWD mode (fuse installed) since the AWD wouldn't shift gears. Autos are hard to start at low rpm so that's why the XT6 starts above 4000rpm. Anyways, when the XT6 has 109hp, the RX turbo only has 74hp. That's a 35hp difference. Yikes! On the torque front, where the XT6 has 122lb-ft of torque, the RX turbo has 81lb-ft of torque. That's a 41lb-ft difference in torque. That's a difference you can feel. I just picked a random point in the dyno graphs to show the difference. I'm kinda wishing I had a manual trannied XT6 so I can really dyno the differences between mods. I'm starting to get used to this manual stuff.

one last snow fun run for the turbo brat.....
Myxalplyx replied to mcbrat's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Man, you guys had me thinking all this snow was coming our way TODAY. I see this pretty big low pressure system in the Midwest thinking peeps got hit hard, even though it's showing only rain. -
Ray, The car looks great to me. Dunno what else to say. Was checking out some of your friends rides as well. http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/451571/1 http://www.cardomain.com/id/justywrx

Any pics? Can you show us 'newbies' in this area what we are to look for? I mean, a picture that would say, 'see guys, this is what a dead spot would look like on your cam if you had one'. I have no idea what a dead spot on a cam would look like.
-
Uh oh! Get a turbocharged one if you do. You'll have more room to play with. Then again, you did drive around in that XT with the cams and you liked it right? You said it made a noticable difference. I wish that car went down the 1/4 mile or a dyno so we could see the difference.

The ohc I4 motor had 70hp and 74lb-ft of torque. The dohc cam motor had 100hp and 83lb-ft of torque. They both were 1.3ltrs from my understanding. I could be wrong. The dohc cam motor is what I'm referring too since not only did it have a fair amount of extra hp but there are companies that make aftermarket parts for it, including a turbo kit (not that it would fit but it was available if it isn't still). I'm not even saying it would fit but I just wanted to give an example. I'm talking about has anyone here swapped ANY engine into a Justy, not just a Suzuki.
-
Is there anyone here who have sucessfully swapped another engine into the Justy (Ex: Suzuki Turbo engine)?

??? What problem did you run into?

High performance crossover pipe

Since another old post has crepted up, figured I may as well join the trend. Has anyone gotten any updates on this project? -
So, what are you saying? Is it up for sale? PM me!
-
Has anyone succesfully replaced a Justy with an alternate motor (like a Suzuki Swift turbo or something else)? I was looking at some Justys some time back and kept thinking about power-to-weight ratio. The one(s) I were seeking were the 1988 GL (1755lbs) or the DL (1655lbs) to do a motor swap in. Even a measly motor with with 150hp would have any of these two cars screaming. My dream is to own one of these with an Acura Integra engine in it (or one with hp/torque around 170hp or so). If anyone of you here can produce something like this for me, I'd give up jboth of my XT6s (both are running strong) as down payment and we could discuss the rest. I'm dead serious! BTW: The white stripe is cute.

1.8L L4 2BBL ??<-- What is this?

Would that be a Justy? -
Who wants NA headers, and TWE update
Myxalplyx replied to WJM's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Well, what kind of price ranges are you guys looking for? Say, $40 per hp or something like that? A header isn't cheap and with the low hp/torque we have on our engines, you never know what to expect. Just trying to help out. I know if Will takes this up, he's going to have to relay some info to TechWorks so they can garner whether they are going to go forth with building it or not. Would be nice to see them make a header with similar results like the Cobb header on the N/A 2.5RS. -

Myxalplyx replied to WJM's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
What kind of header are you interested in having installed? Equal length or unequal (Ala Borla) for that grumbling boxer sound? I'm assuming you are going equal for performance but I know there are some that would love that 'Borla-like' rumble a lot of the N/A Impreza owners have come to love.
