I heard that the next batch is on it's way. I believe there were supplier issues that may have triggered this but I'd call for details. As far as I know, it's already been all ironed out and things are moving forward at this point. As for Jack, he's been reprimanded for charging fully on orders that weren't completed instead of charging half first then the other half when the job was completed. I know because I was one of the orders that got charged completely. I don't know any further details as far as that goes. Keith apologized for the whole thing. There may or may not be any power steering issues depending on what exactly was changed and the exact model the piping will be installed on. From my understanding, TechWorks are aware of our situation as far as the power steering goes and they have addressed it. However, they did not address it to a point where power would be compromised so there still may be issues with the installation and power steering but nowhere to the extinct it would've been with the orginal design.

Lets see! I'm just going to throw these out there. I'm not entirely sure. Cars with the TD04 turbo stock are: Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4/Dodge Stealth Mitsubishi Eclipse Dodge Daytona Shelby Subaru WRX Older Volvos Will keep editing if I find more.
-
I talked to Keith at TechWorks earlier to see how things were going with my order. I mentioned the problem Will had with his power steering line(s) being in the way of the piping itself. (Were the A/C lines also in the way). Keith stated that there is a new batch of piping with a redesign to address these issues. There still may be some compromise as to something being in the way as before by not to the same extent that Will had problems. They didn't want to sacrifice performance too much with the change in the piping route. Also, when some of you post about TWE, can you please use their name 'TechWorks' at least once in the post? The only reason I ask is that it's difficult to look up TWE posts since it's only 3 letters. The search function doesn't like 3 letters words to much, at least not TWE. It won't work!

Thanks for the link. Here's a better pic of the wheels I'm using that are 8lbs a piece. Wheel style: Rally specs (1985) http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/80s/wheels2/8hole.jpg
-
Now this is absolutely ridiculous. I know what set of wheels I'll be set to get my hands on in the future. As if 8lbs isn't light enough. Imagine telling someone on the NASIOC or any board for that matter that your rims weigh in at 6lbs a piece. Imagine the look on their face. :-p Oh man, has anyone mentioned this in any past posts? I'm going to look some more now. This is insane! Can someone provide a link to that wheel page that used to be on USMB? I know it's still here but I can't find it.

I will apologize ahead of time for the questions I will be asking. Perhaps then I will go without a muffler if it's not too loud. As for the Magna Flow Cats, I don't see any non-stainless versions for $65.00 on that site. Do you recommend the oval or round type of cat on that site? Why? I think I will be going with a 2.5" cat and exhaust diameter piping. Also, on that site, there is a mention of cats 'with an Air Tube'. What's that? Is there any particular RRFPR ('Rising Rate Fuel Presure Regulator' for those that do not know) that you recommend and where can I get it? I'm always down for something cheap but functional. Any voltage clamp modifier you recommend and where can I get it? I always have to ask for specifics being though I see how info flows at NASIOC and other boards. This way I don't get confused or assume the wrong things. I appreciate the info you provided Skip. Thanks!

Will, This all sounds great. I'm excited to read about this. That 5500rpm power drop off is a mutha. Do you or anyone else have any suggestions as to what cat converter to install? Actually, I'll be needing to order a muffler as well but I'm mainly concerned about a cat converter to use. I shoud've looked at the header/downpipe/exhaust setup on the RX. How is it setup as far as cat converters are concerned? I'm going to need at least one on the car but I forgot how many converters we have and were they are setup.

Thanks! I had to prove it to myself though that the scale is accurate. For some reason, I still have a tiny bit of doubt like there is some other variable missing or something. :-\ I'm one of my worst critics.

Man, you are tough to please. Ok, I did this. I took my wife's 3lb dumbell (She's no Chyna) and I put this dumbell on the same bathroom scale that I weighed the said tire and rim on. Since I was off a little bit at an angle, I stood even closer and more directly over the bathroom scale to take a closer picture of the 3lb dumbell's weight. Are you convinced?
-
I weighed the wheel (rim) by itself, then I weighed it again after the tires were put on. I centered the wheel on the bathroom scale and held it up (not on) with my index finger. I held it up in a way as no to put any downward pressure on the rim to influence a heavier weight. I'm telling you, this is what I got and if you have a set of these rims or 13" rims like these, to weigh them yourself. I was shocked. I'm even being skeptical but it's what I got.
-
I have a set of Kumho Powerstar 758s that I had put on my RX earlier today. While I was at the tireshop, I brought a bathroom scale with me just to see what the stock rims would weigh. I was considering getting 15" rims until I weighed the 13" rims. The rims that are on the front of the car are the ones that I have all around. The tire size now is 185/70-13s. I weighed a rim on the bathroom scale and came up with an unbelievable number -- 8lbs! I weighed it 3 times. My scale seems to be pretty accurate. When I weighed one of these rims with a tire, it came out to 28lbs. This would indicate that the Kumho tires are 20lbs a piece. According to Kumho's website, these tires at this size weigh 16lbs a piece. What I got is what I got. So right now, I'm just fascinated with the fact that I have 8lb rims on the car that some peeps pay top dollar for a set of Volk racing rims that light. I know it's not really wide but for the driving I'll be doing, it'll be just fine. Also, I know my weight may have been off by a lbs or two......or three....I'll give it the benefit of the doubt. But what I got was what I got and it was 8lbs. Simply...Wow! BTW: My wife read my post and said that I should mention that the big 'grease' spot under the car is from my dreaded XT6s. She can not stand them and hope they go up in flames or that someone steals them. Perhaps both!

A purchased a set of Subaru head gaskets from Paeco a while back for my 1997 2.2ltr Impreza. It can't hurt to call them and ask if they have it for your particular model.

Mid 90's Integra VS. 88' RX..& Thanks!
Myxalplyx replied to DrKrazy's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Wow! I understand now. Last time I raced was at an abandoned airport in which some youngin claimed his uncle owned and said it was ok to race on. 35-45 people showed up and I was showing up to race this old work truck with a ladder on the back.......and a V10 Viper engine in it (name V10Cuda on the old Philly Street Racing Site). We all got cornered in and had to pay a fine. It was the only time I got caught but was the last time I did any street racing. Got too dangerous and out of control and was no longer fun. Glad it ended on that note instead of someone getting hurt. That was back in 1999-2000 I believe. Anyways, glad you were able to keep up with the Integra . Be careful out there and take it to the track if you can. -
Why don't one of you guys have some already made Megasquirts ready to be installed and travel the country like Shiv Pathak (at NASIOC) does for Vishnu Performance, installing these things. All this talk of circuit boards, switches, sensors and such give me goosebumps. Cool stuff though!

Super Fast Idle.....its gonna Blow..
Myxalplyx replied to LuckyPistol's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Could it be the water temp sensor going bad also? Or perhaps the coolant level isn't full and it's throwing off the water temp sensor signal? I know from experience on the XT6s, many of us experience possible high idle, idle surges, etc, from having a bad water temp sensor. The water temp sensor can be so bad sometimes that while idle, the surge can throw your car into oncoming traffic. Ask me how I know! The way we can tell it's bad is by looking at the temp sensor wires. They would have the green bacteria of death growing on and around them. -
The 83 Coupe is Haunting me
Myxalplyx replied to Bucky92's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Bucky, I really was kidding. I can't afford to put insurance on any more cars plus I'm out of space. I won't be getting any cars for quite some time. -

No linky? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=4504111196&category=6467 Hey, that car is close to me. I could use another one. J/K -
No idle with less restrictive intake?
Myxalplyx replied to Tachometer's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Like what was said above, recheck all of you vacuum lines that are supposed to be plugged into your intake. After you are absolutely sure all of your vacuum lines are plugged in and snug, disconnect your battery for 30 minutes. If you can't wait that long, disconnect the negative terminal and push on your brakes for approximately 5 seconds. Then reconnect your negative battery terminal cable and start the car up. Let the car idle for about 5 minutes or so. Do not touch the brakes or gas pedal. Turn it back off and turn it on again. Go for a drive. I know from changing the intakes on the XT6s I have over and over again, sometimes I can get a really crappy idle if I don't reset the ECU by disconnecting my battery terminals. Other times I can change the intake and everything is fine. It's a hit or miss deal. After resets though, they have always idled fine. -
Yeah, I know the feeling. Every few months I get to feeling the way you feel and the people here and some of the other boards I frequent keeps me wanting to keep my cars. Gary in particular is very encouraging to me as far as working on my car(s) go. I get lazy sometimes and other times far in doubt as far as changing timing belts and such. Heck I offered a hand to Gary in changing some cams on one of my XT6s, which was a personal visual nightmare as far as not being a mechanic goes. I've learned SOOOO much from you all and the other boards. Good luck redkard4. Just letting you know that there are those of us who can relate to the feeling. You have to be the best judge as to whether it's worth getting a new car or keeping the subbies. I was pretty much forced to get a new car since one of my XT6s refuse to stay in running condition for any more time than a month (it's a week now before something goes wrong). My FWD one in particular loves to break down and try to leave me stranded. It did it this morning (battery is draining itself for some reason). I still love the car but it's testy. Anyways, good luck!

drove an xt6 with no springs for 250 miles

Myxalplyx replied to archemitis's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
You are NUTS! I've read stories about some people who drove their XT6s that way and they HATE it. I can imagine how low it is since I've seen a few pics of peeps with their air suspension shot to hell. Good luck getting it all together. BTW: I remember reading one post of someone who drove their XT6 like this in autoxs. Said the car cornered like it was on rails. I bet the suspension is the closest someone could feel like being on a old train. -
I posted this at the XT6.net board but thought some here may be interested in something like this as well. I'm sure the XT6s aren't the only scoobies that have the trip computer installed that displays the outside temperature. Well, I took the probe and installed it into the intake so I can monitor the air intake temperature. Here's what I posted.... "Hey All, I located the outside temperature probe that displays the outside temperature in our (XT6s) trip computer. I wanted to somehow install it into the intake so I can monitor the air intake temperature. I plan on doing this on both of my XT6s so we can compare how a cold air intake is vs one that is sucking air in from the engine bay. I took some pictures so that if those that are not familiar with where the temp probe is, they locate it and try this for themselves. This could be a good experiment to see just how cool the snorkus works, especially one routed to the passenger side headlight. Pic# 1 is of the probe itself. It's located just above the power steering pump(On XT6s) near the firewall. It's the blue wire that ends in a black plastic tip. It has one bolt holding it down (8mm I believe). Pic#2 is with the one screw removed from the firewall part. It's hard to see but there is another tiny screw that needs a philips screwdriver to remove it. It is what holds the plastic piece to where the blue wire comes into the black probe part. Pic #3 is with the probe in the intake. I wanted to use a rubber vacuum hose and metal clamps but I didn't have a rubber hose big enough to house the blue wire and the plastic piece. Duct tape is always nice. It's far enough into the intake where half of the probe is in the path of the air rushing in. The other half is in the vacuum nipple part but there is room around the probe itself in there so air can circulate around it. I'm not concerned with the probe piece being sucked off into the intake as it seems pretty secure. Should be interesting to see just how cold/cool the air is coming in. I'm sure some of you have tried this on other Subbies with the trip computer but I was looking and didn't see any info posted on this, so I posted up. Any thoughts?

I did this little video earlier while coming home from work. It was 28F outside and the car seemed to be running ok. I started from a stop on the highway then accelerated until I would hit a top speed. However, that was not to be because the small firecrackers/muffled marbles came out to play. Looking at my Jumptronix air/fuel ratio meter, it wasn't where I set it at earlier yesterday. I had it at a rich .94-.96 air/fuel ratio before going to work. It wasn't as cold (45F or so) but still it was rich enough. When I was doing the 'top speed run', it started off in the high .88. Since it's a cold air setup, it only gets worse (leaner) the faster I go. You can clearly see this as the air/fuel ratio voltage starting dipping into the lower .8 range. As the car reaches 80mph or so, you can start to hear the party began and by 95mph, it's really jumping. I had to let off and I didn't want to destroy the car just yet. If it's not pinging, then please let me know what I'm hearing. In the beginning of the video, if my words aren't clear, I said, "I'm just getting off of work" and "Gauges". I'll shut up for now. Gotta go to bed! *Yawn* Please right click and 'Save as'. I'm posting this in another forum or two as well. http://mywebpages.comcast.net/thomasck/XT6-Pinging.MOV BTW: My mods are listed below under the FWD XT6. I'm using 93 octane and my base timing is around 25 degrees.

Tick of Death Questions
