  1. WJM, I just wanted to let you know that I haven't noticed any low end gain with the DeltaCams. Actually, there's a low end LOSS. I went to a dragstrip briefly last night. I didn't have time to stay long as I had to go to work today early. Anyway, I wanted to confirm what I was feeling on the street with the cam. The low end loss was significant enough to worsen my 60ft time from my normal 2.4 seconds to 2.7 seconds. I'm not sure if it had to do with the cams or the 'tight' cold air box I made before going to the strip. The night before when I was 'tweaking' my fuel pressure on the road, I didn't have a cold-air-box made and the front tires chirp during WOT from a dead stop. Even still, I do not notice any low end power gain nor top end gain. However, at the dragstrip I had a 1mph gain that I couldn't attain last year through many many dragstrip runs. That's not a lot. I need to get on a dyno to test out where my air/fuel ratio is at exactly and maybe play with the timing. My stock base timing is 20 degrees. I set it at 22 degrees before going to the track. I am running 93 octane. I'm noticing some of you are talking about timing being advanced substantially. Snowman, how substantial was/is your timing advance? I don't want to go overboard. I thought I was on the brink of going overboard if I went beyond 2-3 degrees advanced. Qman's running an extra 10 degrees of advanced. That's unheard of and SCARY. If our cars can handle this though and this is what works best with the cams, I'm willing to try anything. Just trying to do my homework before going to the dyno. If I can get away with 6-8 more degrees of timing advance, that'd be awesome.
  2. Hello Eric, What exactly do you mean by the cams work awesome on your car? What improvements did you notice and where in your powerband? Someone 'slaved' for the past week or so to get some DeltaCams in my XT6 and I think all that's needed now is a timing adjustment to get the car started (I hope). I'll play with it tomorrow to see how to get it started. In the meantime, I'm just curious as to what to look for. I've already gotten plenty of responses but you can never hear enough. So what did you notice?
  3. I forgot to do this recently when checking my compression on an XT6. This is good to know even though 4 of my cylinders where almost right on the money. 1 was higher than normal (carbon build up I guess....higher compression..woohoo) and 1 was right on the verge of being out of factory specs. I don't know how fuel will affect your readings but I disconnected my fuel pump by unplugging it. I didn't want fuel pumping into the cylinders to affect my readings. I didn't see this mentioned...so....
  4. Hrmm...lemme see here. Put a 38hp wet shot of nitrous on the Justy (which is about a 50hp jetting on a 4 cylinder). And..and.. a custom intake and exhaust from the header back. Hrmrmmm....with just the nitrous alone, that'll be 14.8lbs/hp. That leaves 1.4lbs/hp left. Perhaps...maybe.....ah...nevermind. All you'd need is a turbo/intercooler setup that will get you about 50hp extra. Heck, not even that much if you lighten the Justy. You'd be on par with a stock Neon SRT-4. :-p
  5. I can't wait to see the end result. I'm hoping everything comes together well.
  6. You are not alone! I'm the same way as well, despite how long this has been going on. It's entertaining though if nothing else is left to look at. Nice pics BTW! If you guys want to look at the rest of them, just change the last two numbers of the pic link. I think it goes from *59 to *70. I thought I saw a pic of Janet Jackson's nip*** in one of those photos!?! Ban Calebz!
  7. They sell adapter plates at Autozone? I wish I would've known about this. Thanks! Good info!
  8. Just be sure you get THAT Toyota Previa maf adapter. I believe their are two different ones. There's the one Subarubrat is recommending---> And one I recently purchased for my XT6---> I purchased the one above believing the other once was restrictive due to the corners being squared and not rounded off. They both are for the Toyota Previa. I ended up having a hardware store drill out the holes I needed in the above maf and it works fine. But it wasn't a direct fit.
  9. 1: How much you paid to get your cams done, $161.85, shipped. 2: What car you got it done on, 1989 2.7ltr XT6 3: Cam specs, Same as Tex. Ive got a scanned pic somewhere. 4: Time it took to receive your regrinded cams, 1.5 weeks. 7 days of UPS Shipping, 1.5 days me sending in and them getting the cams. 5: What power improvements (hp and/or torque) gains or loses have you observed, tested, and/or noticed. Cams are not installed just yet. Just got them in today. The T-shirt they sent was nice. *Chest swelling up* I will post dyno results once I get them in.
  10. Hey SubaruTex, I've been following your project for a bit and I asked a question a while back but you may have forgotten to post about it or didnt' have time to look. Do you know what your Sensor Calc and Sensor Number setting is on your SAFC for your setup? Thanks!
  11. Yeah! http://www.xt6.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1691&highlight= I can't believe I forgot about that post. At the time I was all indecisive about what I wanted to get done. Looking forward to seeing how your headwork comes out. Reading about all the camshaft talk here got me all woozy.
  12. Scott of DeltaCams gave me a call yesterday. He stated that the XT6 cams can be regrounded and that it will not be a problem. He stated that it wouldn't affect the XT6s bottom end significantly but that the top end will be able to pull upwards to 7000rpm. It'll cost $75.00 per cam. I believe Delta Camshaft is going to use the cam grind profile that they already have for the EA82 engines. Anyways, that's all the info I have for now.
  13. This is great stuff! I'm wondering why people aren't knocking down your door for these mods. I'd specifically want the intake, steel header, down pipe, high flow cat, cat back...I mean the works. I don't even own a 1.8ltr turbo (hope to someday). I'd love to see the 1/4 mile trap speed of that car. Tom....nice work.
  14. ProECM Powerchip was removed since my last dyno run. So here's a 3rd gear comparison of my ProECM installed from 2 weeks ago vs my best 3rd gear pull today (both with the JCSports intake installed). Also note: Today's JC Sport intake had a brand new K&N filter while two weeks ago had a used filter intalled.
  15. Stock intake with the snorkus cut and aluminum ducting going out to the foglight (with brand new STP filter put in before dyno). Stock intake 2.75" inner diameter. VS JC Sports intake for Impreza 2.5RS (3" diameter). Brand new K&N air filter installed the night before and used first on the dyno. Used 93 octane on the runs. Results: Fullrun 1st-3rd gear. 1st gear close up: 2nd gear close up: 3rd gear close up:
  16. What do you mean Hmmmmmm......? Get your butt down to your neighborhood True Value store and make 'us' some pipes. Lots of bling in your pockets if it works.
  17. Hello WJM, How much would these cost individually? Where did you get the info from as to the one they already did? How much hp/torque did it gain vs the stock unit? Might as well do my homework through you for a future project. Thanks!
  18. I'm using the same combo that you use in your hatchback in my XT6 'cept I'm using 10w40 (factory recommended). I am wondering why more people haven't mentioned something about the Castrol High Mileage oil. Is there something really different about it or is it all marketing hype?
  19. Partsman, How much for a gasket seal kit for a Subaru XT6 (any year)?
  20. .......... Thank you Subaru_guy! That's what I get for skimming over a post too quickly. And thank YOU Jerry for posting your information.
  21. Is this really Delta Camshaft (Scott)? Did you mean to post something? I'm sending my 2.7ltr XT6 camshafts off today via UPS. A letter/note is inside. If you'd like to discuss further details, please give me a call at the number I provided inside the box. Thanks! Edit: *Oops* I can't send it out today. Federal Holiday! Will send tomorrow.
  22. Hey Skip, I have no idea what I'm talking about. In the realm of valvetrains, lifters and cams all I'm capable of doing is quoting scary text. So I put it out there so I can learn something from the higher ups here. Now to find a decent box so I can send out my cams. Thanks!
  23. I know what you are saying Robm. The DeltaCams site recommends this with their new cam grinds. This concerns me as I have already spend $500+ on new lifters for my XT6 about a year or two ago and planned on never to do this again. Here's the link to the DeltaCams helpful tips section. http://www.deltacam.com/tech.htm "1. Always use new lifters when installing a new camshaft. The bottoms of the lifters are spherically convex ground, and the cam lobes are ground with taper. The mating of these two surfaces ensures that the lifter will rotate, thus reducing the chance of premature wear. If you install used lifters on a new or reground camshaft, early failure is almost certain." That last part in bold is what bothered me. Everything on my XT6 is almost certain to fail. :-p Fortunately, it seems people here haven't had a lot (or any) problems with their new cam grind. Unfortunately, I wouldn't fit in the same category as there are no XT6 cam grinds available....yet. I just need balls big enough to be the guinea pig. *Thinking* ........*shaking*
  24. Are all you dudes giants walking around here? I'm 6'0 but jeez! I'd hate to see a ricer receive a Scooby beatdown by a group of you guys. :-p And to stay on topic, I fit in my Scoobies just fine.
