  1. Actually no the new seal didn't come with any spring at all.
  2. I can see a spring that seems to go around the crank shaft in behind seal. Any idea what purpose this spring serves? Do I need to be concerned that it appears to be sprung? Any ideas on how to set the seal in completely? I am having issues put all the way in. Of course I didn't think to take a picture before trying to put the new seal in.
  3. Thanks for your input, these are all questions that I have been pondering. I've also been thinking about doing this myself too, thanks to your trials and errors.
  4. So you had Line X put your liner in. What did that run you, if you don't mind me asking?
  5. Put radiator, water pump, thermostat, and antifreeze all back in the appropriate spots. Had to jump it since it was sitting for almost 2 weeks. Now I just need my replacement crank pulley and I'll be good to go.
  6. I've been wondering about this one myself, while waiting for my replacement crank pulley to arrive. Can you put a screw driver or of the like in flywheel through one of the holes? Or can one use a old/slightly used belt to wrap around the pulley clamp some vice grips on to hold it solid? This is one idea that been bouncing around in my head, so I don't know for sure how effective it will be.
  7. I've heard good things about the axles from Car Quest. World PAC is the name I believe. I've bought one, haven't installed yet been waiting for my failing one to start clicking after I rebooted. They do have a life time Warranty too.
  8. I've been daily driving mine for over a year and it's been awesome!!! Swap out the carb for a Weber, that will boost your get up and go. Shawn on here will get you set up for a Weber.
  9. Drained coolant, flushed, removed water pump, thermostat removed, removed crank pulley to find this..
  10. Ugh....really, this is what I'm running in my Brat w/ the EA81....WTH...I thought that is what was recommended.......CRAP.....
  11. That is a tough one. I'd get the non turbo running and part the other out or do a swap.

    Good luck with your project.
  13. I pulled one apart earlier this summer, I don't remember exactly how it fell apart now. Seems like it just came apart when the screw was out. Must be just a pita for you.
  14. Nice metal work!! Thanks for sharing the pictures!
  15. As long as both columns are the same as in tilting you are good as gold. If they aren't both tilt you might be able to dismantle and pull the tumbler out and switch them.
  16. Nice find! Is that standard switch/button for the cruise? On the Gen2s?
  17. That is correct, the gauges can't be to reliable sometimes.
  18. This is the same as I am getting on my 86' Brat Weberized. Just replaced the cap and rotor the other day, so I'm hoping that will help my MPGs. I will say it runs better now at least.
  19. So after reading all these posts I'm fairly certain I have a very early EA81. Gold stickers on valve covers saying 'Don't adjust Valve Clearance' Hydro lifters I am guessing Serial # on block 002766 With a NiiponDenso dizzy Oh On a 86 Brat with build date 12/85.
