Put a Weber on. THAT WILL FIX IT!
-
Best of luck figuring this issue out. Sounds somewhat similar, but worse than what I was z dealing with before I switched to the Weber. There are a bunch of vac lines to deal with on those Hitachi carbs. Let me just say that mine runs lots better and has more power with the Weber on. I need to do something with that Hitachi thing now too which is what I'm guessing you have on your Brat.

Awesome! Glad to hear that. Once I get home I'll share your idea, I seriously think it has wonderful potential:).
-
One more thing I want to add. Anyway you can give the same amount of leg room that the '2014' Outback has? I have really long legs and the Brat is doable for me, however it is kinda tight . Especially for long trips.

Doubt not Bantum. If enough of us Subaru nuts show enough interest it could very well come to be. AND if enough think it to be IT WILL BE! (I've seen my wife do things like that, when she is really passionate about something, then it comes to be) So I know it can happen. Obviously you have a whole lot of passion about this or you would not have done what you have done here. I have faith that this will come to be some day. The right person just needs to see what you have done and there we (YOU) go!! I have faith that it will come to be you should too, especially for all the time you have put into it. I would just like to say thanks for your time on this!!! I will share this on FaceBook if that is okay with you?

Keep her maintained and you'll be good to go. :)

+1 on the Weber Carb. If you can afford it, it is totally worth the money. Shawn on here can get you set up with one for about $325. Sounds like your issue could be in the carb, maybe not though hard to say for sure.

Yes I did manage to figure that much out with the polarity issue, I may need to reverse one in relation to that, and I did see the T5s are exactly like the T10s in the polarity aspect. That being said, I had all of my T5s working before I tried the jumper wire thing, then all the T5s in my info center deal with the high beam, 4WD, LO, and something else can't remember now, at any rate they are dead. As well as the ECS idiot light being out. Apparently I did NOT get the speedo cable hooked up correctly cause it along with the odometer do not move. Tonight my fuel gauge needle creeped up slightly from nothing on my way home, not sure what that is about. I figured dead was dead as far as gauges go. What does work though are the blinkers/hazards, most of the back lighting, the clock and words under, and all the car light indicators right to the left of the clock.

Well I confirmed tonight that the tach is not moving either. Did not drive it to see if I got the speedometer cable on right or not. :0

In the process of doing my LED swap on my Brat I discovered that the wire leading to the low fuel gauge light was burnt in two. There was wire connected to the bottom bolt with the nut ie..alternator gauge. I figured that I could hook a wire from the alternator bolt down to the screw next to the low fuel gauge light to give that power. Well that was DUMB......, NOW my gauges -fuel, alternator, oil pressure, temp?? Maybe & possibly tach not sure though, don't work and the idiot/indicator lights don't work as well. Most all of the back lighting does work though. Thoughts, did I possibly fry something serious, still starts and runs though.

Sounds like I should be doing the valves on my EA82 heads when I do the gaskets. I'm no up to doing the valves (to much I screw up there) I'm fairly certain I can do the resurfacing once I get the material, that being said I'm just wondering if it will be worth my time and ect to do that if I'm going to take them to the shop anyway for the valves?? Thoughts anyone??

Okay where does the return fuel line need to hook into? I am not following where it goes to and from -
You might try leaving the air cleaner off, while you are or someone else is cranking on it, shoot some starting fluid down the carb. This May or may not cure the issue, what you are describing kind of sounds look what I was seeing after I converted my carb. I shoot mine with the starting fluid and it ran much more like it should. Worth a try.

Nice little gem you have there!
-
This very very very VERY sad and depressing. People so need to keep their mitts off other people's STUFF!
-
Did you end up buying this unit? I would like to purchase if you didn't and it is still available, cause it sure does get hot in this part of the country and donor cars are hard to find.

hitachi carb - issues after partial rebuild

I can say for sure that the filter underneath holds true on the Brat, at least for the 86' anyway. I have been thinking there was a filter in the engine compartment, apparently I have been deceived on that. -

Rear Disc Brake Difference 2WD vs 4WD

I have been under the impression that my 86 Brat fell into the EA82 chassis with an EA81 Engine. Feel free to set me straight on this one..anyone . Thanks again. I certainly do this forum. -
Rear Disc Brake Difference 2WD vs 4WD
Dinky26 replied to Dinky26's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Can you be more specific, different in what way? So that we can figure out if they will fit my Brat. Thanks -
belacane is selling a set of disc brakes from an XT. Does not know if they were from 2 or 4WD. What is the difference in the backing plate, specifically the center hole from 2 vs 4WD, the set she has, the center hole is approximately 2.5"? I looked under my Brat, obviously as you probably know that does no good. Any other differences between the 2 versions? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Very, VERY NICE! I love what you have done. Keep up the good work and keep us posted.

Sounds like a carb problem, or something fuel related. When's the last time you changed filters?
