  1. REgarding the dodge, this was a very high speed incident; 60 mph.. The dodge is pretty okay compared to my little beer can (forgive me, but it was); ~Pull the radiator fan out of the water pump and put a new front end and she was good to go. American muscle right there. I'm not really looking for another subie; just a daily driver so i can get out of ma's taurus wagon (ewwww) I don't have time to restore another brat, i'm going to be leaving my house soon and dad's going to replace me with a chevelle restoration project. I have a car in minnesota, a '79 Malibu (V6- no bueno), but i don't really feel like a road trip up to the motherland for a rust bucket. Found a $900 impala, i am thinking so. 350, baby... Oh no, this is not the place. Nevermind that. A beer can saved me this time, next time odds are that a big american tank will save me.
  2. Crap. i just re-posted. I don't care. I am so sad. My brat.. You all are so nice. you are so considerate. thank you for your prayers; no one understands like you do. I am crying my eyes out as i write this; less about my brat and more for your stories and well-wishes. I didn't know i had a fan club, seriously. Everyone here always told me it was a slow piece of crap. I had to agree, it was slow, and it was a beer can, but i only had 2 weeks with those seats in the back, and the Sunday prior i got the axle in so i'd only driven her 4 days without the clicking. Oh Lord, I miss her so much I can't rebuild her, the engine tranny drivetrain is still bueno but the body work. oh my... She was so pretty Some one in heaven's looking out for me. GOt bruises as one wouldn't think necessary and a sprained knee. but they grow back, the steel doesn't. I started stripping her today. watching the Daytona 500 and crying. cut myself up real good trying to get myself out before they used the jaws of life. Oh, and Russ, both Tailights are still good I <3 you WJM
  3. And then there was Laura with 2 MG Midgets in my garage.... No they'er not mine but they're kind of cool (??)
  4. '81 D/R w/ 4 sp; Uber for any condition. low will get you through a mud hole that a '95 1/2 chevy will stick in, and home from work on a dark, icy CO road at 40. '88 D/R FT4wd w/ 5-sp; always A+ '89 GL D/R 5-sp; Once again Fantastic '92 AWD Automatic; good enough, but is not as sound on ice. good drifter (??). '89 Turbo wagon D/R Auto; eewww.. I don't think it worked right. not a pleasurable experience. '88 DL wagon w/ 5-sp; no 4wd, was heavy enough to be good on ice, though. not preferable '90 Justy single 4 5-sp; Super for icy roads, not a mudder though. EDIT; i work at a subie dealership, the new AWD system (core technology in all they make) is really smart and recoommended.
  5. I haven't checked this board in a while. i have the gen-1 brat stripe all photoed up on my website, and i can't email photos, so if you want to check, try this one : I also traced it before i sanded it off, so if that would be of help, let me know. I could really use a gen-1 brat decal if you're looking to make one.
  6. ....BUMP for a cool effort. I'm in school and i work saturdays, so any evening or sundays work for me.
  7. just like the one i have to step around to get to the timeclock in the morning.... gurgle
  8. Count me in, i'll make it down in whatever is on the road (toss up, requests will be considered)
  9. PM sent.. don't make me go find the vin tonight.. it is cold. so, so cold.
  10. Nice RX! i love it as much as most RX's! hurray! you will/do love it!
  11. no cruise here, didn't think they came with it.. no idea how.
  12. Nice RX, and welcome! (oggling over lift..)
  13. ('81 has hitachi.. and it works for me) I don't think there is much difference.. does carfax bring that sort of thing up?.. if you've switched engines or not?.. not likely, but i dont know
  14. How about an STi set up in a BRAT? Someday.. sigh... that wold be nice... A gl wagon, there are a few Uber wagons (WJM) and other folks with really radical set ups, WRX would be cool.. Oh by the way.. RX owned a 5.7L sierra tonight!
  15. If you can afford it; Snap-on are always the best. always. I have 2 sets of snap on in my shop.. home/work set but dad doesn't wrench monkey anymore, so i'm set. You can use 4wd on wet pavement, but for FL, it's kind of overkill, but it won't do anything to your car as long as the wheels can slip a little bit. Find a loose gravel road for some 4wd. Newbie mechanics: if you know a tech, that's better than a manual, but if you're like me, i can learn off manuals. Take apart simple stuff and put it back together; ignitors and air cleaners, manifolds.. etc.
  16. Twenty nine? 30? that's crazy talk. no seriously he's my brother.. we're all a bit worried about him. Filled up my RX today, i drive and drift a lot and here's my result... 352/14g=25.. not bad.
  17. got a foot in Berthoud (20 miles in either direction=4" less) good thing of this: My family;4 drivers, 5 cars- 4 w/ AWD, FT4, or D/R (stupid taurus), 3 cars with abs to leave me and my father free for brake-locking, parkinglot-tearing donut action. Took the X-mas picture with the brat parked on a snow drift.. radical.
  18. Meh, i have yet to stick the brat (by Glenn's terms- if you're still moving, you're not stuck=close calls ) Stuck the legacy halfway up to the handles, but i got out of that one easy, my friend in his chev was standing by with tow rope in hand (i didn't even get mud inside- colorado clay has too low (high? i forgot= it's thick) of viscosity to actually get in the door jams). So.. after an undercarriage wash, she was fine. This was the big mud pit by the tracks- i will take a pic of it one day.
  19. Really!?!?! thanks for the tip.. i had no idea! And it was a good deal for how newer (or at least looking like it) it is. How many miles?
  20. that is one pretty brat! good score! i hope you do great things with it always nice to see more brats!
  21. That's awesome, glad ya'll had a good time doing what subies are made to do!
  22. Mike, turn back now from the world of subie mods!!! Too late, you're hooked. Welcome to the infamous USMB.. Sounds like you have cool plans, like the rest of us. hope you can carry it out and i want to see some pictures. If you get a deal on your lights, let me know. Hella's are awesome. Hurray for dual ranges- you won't regret it!
