  1. Hi there, Africa! Watch Jared's warning, i'm not even out of High School and i am hooked.. goes to show it can happen to anyone. Have fun on the board and with the 2.5 (very nice, by the way)!
  2. Awesome score!! Snow in the rear isn't anything that can't be temporarily stopped with a tarp and some duct tape.. As for the snow, i'm 2 hrs away and i have no snow!!! it's supposed to tonight- get some pneumonia for those trick-or-treaters..
  3. Good job on aquiring a Van! those things are super, and EJ's just make them that much better! Look for the VW show that shows up in Aurora area (staged at some High School down there) i been going for a few yrs now, and only seen a few conversions. Let me know if you can show there, i'll be sure and come down! Now for Super to Sube-er! (ha, that was cheesy i know.)
  4. Here's my experience w/ O2 sensors; My buddy's '95 outback SW had similar, not as severe symptoms, including (it was a 5-speed) a complete innability to rev over 2.5 or 3 k. We popped the hood, and there was a little hose on the left side of the engine (right on the surface) that had been disconnected, was a 1/4" black rubber thing. we plugged it back in, and it ran as expected. Now i don't know the engine differences, but this is something to check, if it's just the little hose. i'm also not 100% that this was an O2 sensor, but that's what we figured, and the symptoms went away.
  5. crazy what a little bent-up metal can do.. i would have guessed pilot bearing, speaking of which, i have a loaned one i have to return... sorry TK if you ever read this!
  6. i'm taking a catering class! haha, with little-to-no real world application, so says the instructor. My father tried campells soup, but forgot that you had to add water. Pete and Jim at my emissions place always have hotdogs in foil they heat on whose ever testing..
  7. I have A/C in the '88 RX, but don't use it, and this is my replacement; Just roll down both sides front windows, and crack both the rear ones an inch or 2. You get a nice airstream, but it doesn't bother your face (or screw up long hair, in my case). This only works in Subarus, I swear! If CA is like CO, with heat but no humidity (i honestly have no idea..) then this is great, but if it's humid, consider keeping the a/c unit.
  8. nice hatch, that's classy. seems like it's car trading time amongst all the subie owners. hurry up now! hot potato! hot potato!
  9. Well, i can't help you on the exhaust problem, i'm not old enough. As for the mildew; shampoo it w/ a green machine or something if possible; febreez the living **** out of it, then put dryer sheets in all pockets and under everything for a month- it will make your eyes water at first, leave them in a week with the car closed up, then air her out- the scent should have absorbed into the upolstry
  10. I'm thinking that i support the lift, just for cosmetic purposes, as long as you don't do any smashy-style activities. PLEASE!!! but yeah, like all say, very sweet, i'm jealous
  11. I really like it! that is the cleanest RX coupe i've seen, no rust etc.. sweet I'm not sure about painting the wheels, i think if you got some hubs or wheels, it would look better. White painted wheels don't always look real good after road rash and mud. but then again, you can do it if you want and prove me wrong and do it, be sure to post some pictures
  12. Super wicked!! Maybe one of those little pooh-bear sunshields or something? or if you wanted to get away from the housewife look, you could go for something really flashy- i put an STi sticker on my wagon ('92 Legacy) and folks automaticlly (if they know what STi is..) say, "yeah, she wishes!" I also had a mini-cooper shaped air freshener (that wasn't actually scented) hanging from the mirror (from automobile magazine a while back..) Also saw a truck in Louisiana that had been airbrushed to look massively rusty w/ cracked dashboard and works, very effective, except his truck was an '04.
  13. I'm thinking $1000 is a little much to pay for something with under 100 hp and over 150000 miles. Sounds like a decent car, but get the price a little more reasonable. and if the seller says "its only ball joints" then it probably needs something else, because, unless he's super-short on money, why wouldn't he replace them and get more money for his car?
  14. This would be all i'd say, too. In those brats it's ALWAYS connections somewheres, or clutch complications (at least w/ mine). And if the J/Y doesn't work out, shoot me a pm and i'll give you the # of a used parts place in Boulder.
  15. Sparkle, Sparkle! Super, i like the coilovers... make sure you chrome and polish your diff just for effect- friend of mine did that, very classy
  16. right, just be consious when you're doing it.. say a prayer that it might not be ricey when you're done. and refer to wing as "spoiler" or something. don't forget a clean room...
  17. ha! we should all be so lucky.. stupid critters. oh by the way.. nice car- LS?
  18. hee hee... I refer to them as 3rd eyes (or in the case of my '81 brat, 5th eye) and you wink at someone before you pass them. i have one, but i don't intend to put it on the brat, A. because i like the huge logo on there now. B. because i don't pass enought people in my 1.8 to make the wiring project worthwhile. But they are unique..
  19. That's deep, Noah. I like the full time if you live somewhere w/ continuous road abnormalities (construction, ice, dirt roads, mountains, whatever), or if you're an avid off roader. Then, if you get yourself into "trouble" go for a ranges shift. The AWD (w/o toggle, just the computer guided one) is fine, not as fun, but you don't have to think when driving it- better gas mileage. And the 2WD w/ selectable dual 4WD (i rebuilt the engine of an '88 GL Bubble back) is super for long commutes on highway.
  20. very cool! that looks like it will be even cooler with the racing tires and whatnot, make sure you take her dragging
  21. looks liek fun, i need to take the brat for a swim, haven't since she got painted, i have a nice rock-free paint-safe clay pit. now it just needs to rain in the desert! that's really sweet how you have trails all marked and stuff for water.. no such luck w/ in reasonable range here.
