  1. yeah, just put some of the red junk in there, clean any water/condensation out of our tank at the same time. go fo the full effect: put the treatment in at full tank and cap off your tank when it reaches half. it's good for your car to stretch it out as long as you can.. like 3-4 refills.
  2. yay for brats! hello, have fun during your stay.. free manager's reception down the hall, to your left.
  3. everyones right.. my RX didn't have a muffler for a while, and if you put it next to my brat (which has NEVER had a muffler, and won't) the RX is just plain quiet. the DB level of the turbo is nothign compared to what some ride, but it still is noticable. long as you still have the cat on, it's not unbearable
  4. first of all: awesome picture.. halo is quality second, This a new-er generation quetion, you'd probaly get more answers if you got this post over there. third, i have a '92 AWD legacy SW, and you have a sweet deal. i'm not sure about the seats, but i bet they'd be close to being able to fit if they didn't. take the speakers! i don't know what the '04's had, but i know the speakers in my wagon were something that were promptly replaced upon my aquisition. while you're at it, if it has a nice deck or anything, take it.
  5. that is nice looking! keep us up to date on vanagon- did you look into the one in longmont?
  6. ohh....i want to come too!!! i'll mow down your tree with my brat.. and sheppie's wing as a plow!! But, yeah, kudos to sheppie... must have seen how the last guy who tried to be a tuner on the forum gor scared off.. ahahaha, ruthless?
  7. my brat was doing this exact thing lately.. but only if i tried to start it with the clutch.. in my dad thought it might be a "clutch switch" (yes i know, you subie gurus, that it doesn't have one... now).. so i checked and he checked we determined that maybe it doesn't have one, so it is the wiring. some where we got bad connections. i've had fun w/ brat wiring already. but i would check your GL if it has a "clutch switch" (some where under the drivers side dash) and this may be it, if it's a manual. ask some of the more veteran folks around here if it does. i honestly have no idea, but that's a shot at it.
  8. Check this out- pulled over on saturday up in Fort collins in my brat. going 72 in a 55 racing a 318 plymouth satelight restoration project of my buddy's (i know it's worthless, i really do). cracked windsheild, had unbuckled seat belt (to get license etc. out of glove department), and me and the kiddo i was with were 17 out at 1230- curfew violation (you can get arrested for that, and usually are in this neck of the woods..) Got off SCOTT FREE!!! yeah, buddy! So some kid comes up to me, i'm at a moving away party tonight, some kid walks up, didn't know him, "you're the chick with the brat! raddest f***ing thing eva!!!" yeah, buddy! Edit: don't get me started on mowing political signs...
  9. here's a second on the new wiring idea. i had a fairly primative cd deck in my brat, the wiring was so shoddy when i first put her in there, i'd take my brat somewhere fun (terrain) and end up with my radio presets gone. And the speaker wiring is HORRIBLE. get yourself some RCA wire (or otherwise, really most will work) and hopefully some aftermarket speakers and you will be much happier. of course, if you want a basis of comparison first, wire everyting stock and wait till you go crazy.
  10. did we do a good job? He should have known what he was getting into....
  11. AHHHH!! thousand darts your way! (unless you're sarcastic, i can't tell by your font ) I don't remember whose sig it was that said: "it's more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow" here's my 2-policy take on the old subie style, and call me naive, i don't care, but i grew up in a scooby shop: 1. We go for head turning-ugly, lifted, loud, or otherwise, but not riced 2. We pride in overcoming physical obstacles: under-budget, large rocks, steep hills, pedestrians (ha!) or mud pits
  12. I have 500 for anyone's STi.... Sweet on the brat!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  13. jared: affirmative on the AF academy, things are looking good for me as of now (congressional/physical crap)and as for illegal military drinking, soon as you have a military id out here, the sky's the limit. have a few friends in the guard. and Desert destroyer; don't worry. come 2 months i'll be 18. grand canyon sounds rad.
  14. Another from CO.. I been to Las Vegas AZ. not too bad of an area, little hot for me. friend of mine had a lot of family out there. if i make the academy, maybe the start of june i'll be up for a SW meet. be my last taste of civilization (wouldn't have it any other way..) But i can't make a SW meet now, while i'm in school and such.
  15. Hi Darryl! Glad to hear you are trying to upgrade your WRX, i know you can do some cool things with it. Can we see some pictures of it?
  16. This is an awesome idea, i am in full support. i can't help you a whole lot in interchangable parts due to the fact that all i've ever aquired were un-numbered used parts. Some day this won't be for me, so a back up list is an excellent idea. Right now, i cannot help with data input, but if you would like my help come december or beginning of next year, let me know. i have to put in too many hours at my job until then. But awesome idea!
  17. i can't come, some obligation for a friends birthday party or something.. ah i don't know. and if ever anything else goes on, let me know, and cabaroo could follow me down or something, i'm 2 hrs down 287 from laramie. so count me out with regret
  18. yikes, guys, like i said, my dad fab-ed the motor, it hardly is even an RX under the hood. we had nothing to start out with. as in no original motor in vehicle at time of aquisition. exhale, corky. i am not a diff expert, although my father is a gearing genius. ask him about racing ministocks. leave him alone, we have 20k mi on this rig, no problems yet. i don't know the condition, but the thing just says 3.9 and this is what i am told. Oh, and i'm a 17 year old girl. no gentleman.
  19. Wow. i can say that i didnt think RX's were that in demand. Serioulsy, i live in a ford town (fools!) and folks make fun of me driving the box that is my RX. I always think its cool, but no third person admiration. Then i pointed out to the kid in the '04 jetta that i had the same motor as him (1.8 w/ turbo) only i had full time 4wd. made him scratch his head.. The single crappiest thing on my RX is the fact it has no cup holders.. i have to fit beverages (mason jars of iced tea) in the little gap between the range selector and the e-brake. That and the fact it would really soar if i fixed the gearing, eliminated 3rd, moved 4th down and put on a bolt-on OD gear for 5. I do have a 3.9 diff, in no way is this how they come, it was a frankenstein part dad hillbillied up to work with the engine he rebuilt using componets of 3 (to my knowledge)other engines, non of the others being RX's. I've seen no other RX's in northern CO other than my father's shop, and it is definately not a head turner outside of the rally track. I have no idea the resale value, even, as i have yet to see one advertised for sale. don't get me wrong, we are NOT looking to sell it.
  20. i never did do an introductary thread so here is; ~I have been on subs for about 4 years, ever since my father started working at the nation's largest independent subaru shop (Super Rupair in Boulder CO) no surprized if you've had parts shipped from the manager of used parts, Joe, my dad, he did a lot of that. Now is a teacher of auto mechanics. ~Been around imports my entire life, Joe used to race mini-stocks and mini-mods in CO, SD, and MN. Mostly fabricated t-birds or volkwagens w/ celica engines in them. ~My first car was a '92 legacy LS station wagon, only because the insurance was dirt cheap (older w/ all safety junk) ~Alternating RX and Brat now that i'm restoring the latter, it's going to be one awesome ride. ~Other projects: project Samuri, purchased a samuri and have plans to rhino line the interior and run the POS to the ground. DB ELECTRICS challenge: with $800 worth of car (seeking an old nova SW) and $5000, we are to build a 12 second car. sponsored activity. Cuda project: not really mine, but we're going to drag a '71 baracuda. I help w/ mechanical stuff (like a contractor) ~Going to school, trying to get into the air force academy. that's my life.
