Question about XT steering rack
toybuilder replied to toybuilder's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Thanks for pointing out the obvious to me, electryc_monk! This is what I came up with after searching: The thread that electryc_monk mentioned Thanks -
Anyone know what is different about the XT steering rack? All ea82 cars except the XT use the same steering rack, it uses a different one.
-
You can get them from JE or Arias. I don't have any contact info here at work, but I'll post it up when I get home, or you could try google. Both of those companies will make pistons for just about anything. For more information try searching, this topic has been covered recently. Good luck!

High Volume Oil Pumps for Subes
toybuilder replied to Holmes's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I'll have to check that out! More than twice the cost of a stock replacement, hope it's worth it. Thanks for the link and info! -
A part number would be great, thank you.

Are not replaceable on my 1990 Loyale?? That is what the parts guy at the local dealer told me today when I inquired about purchasing them. He said you have to replace the whole shaft. $500+ dollars!! Guess I'll be combing the Pull-n-Save tomorrow for a "new" drive shaft. I put a full time 4wd tranny in my wagon and the old shaft just isn't going to cut it..... Anyone have any experience with this? I'm getting a quote from a local driveshaft shop to remake my shaft with replaceable u-joints.

Easy way to pull out Wrist pins on an EA-82?
toybuilder replied to RallyKeith's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I made this tool out of a 1/4" stainless steel rod, that I had in my junkbox. Took about 5 minutes to make. Works nicely. Make it long enough so that you can give it a good whack with the hammer. -
where's The ECU¿¿¿
toybuilder replied to MaroonDuneDoom's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Remove the panel that is under the steering wheel. The ECU is in there. -
Thanks for the clarification Dennis ex24. Obviously I'm not the authority on RXs, that's why I am asking questions. tact is an art most people chose not to practice...
-
Me too. It's all original and complete, except for the owners manual. Those hubcaps are the first thing to go....
-
-
Yep, real RXs had the all white, flat hubcaps. I agree, not real attractive. Some 14" pug steels are going on as soon as I can afford tires.
-
It's here! It's mine! It has a few issues...
-
I wouldn't say it's perfect, but it is complete and everything works. Not much rust, less than my '93 Loyale. It's a little dirty and well worn inside and out. Great beginning for a rally car project, hmmm or maybe a lifted RX..... Should be a fun car!
-
Thanks for the opinions. The previous owner is going to drop it off at my house tonight. I'm excited about my new project car!! If it is a two door is it considered an RX "coupe"?
-
M11 is fairly uncommon. I believe that someone else on the board recently had success using 7/16 coarse heli coils for their head bolts. You might try searching for that thread. Is this the engine from the RX in your sig? If so, I'll bet that it is the turbo side head that you are having trouble with... Good luck!

Where to buy EA82T Gasket Set?

"Are those prices for OEM?" Check out their website Give them a call, best way to get info from them. Very friendly people. -
Where to buy EA82T Gasket Set?
toybuilder replied to TheSubaruJunkie's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I have done business with both GasketPro and CCR Inc. I can recommend both places. Headgasket is different between turbo and N/A. I would use a turbo gasket on an N/A car, but not the other way around. Definately only use a turbo headgasket from Subaru. The only genuine part that I insist on using. Good luck! Maybe I can give you a hand while I'm out there? -
rear end ratio to match 5spd d/r trans?
toybuilder replied to a topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
the D/R from the RX has 3.70 the D/R from a GL has 3.90 -
Well, I just made a deal to buy an '87 RX. I was glad to finally find one, so I bought it. Impulse buy! Hope I got a good deal, what do you guys think? 1987 RX 2 Door almost no rust new battery new coolant hoses for the turbo cargo cover works all hub caps body kit is complete analog dash dual range full/time and LSD are present The engine is a little on the loud side, but it seemed, on the short test drive, to run and drive well. $625 Yahoo! My third Sube!

how to clean my disty?
toybuilder replied to JonOfScio's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I'll second what ShawnW said. The brand name is Lectramotive, and there are other similar products available at the auto parts store. I wouldn't recommend degreaser. -
Opinions wanted: Best parts place
toybuilder replied to darthsoob's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Why do you have to know the part number?? Out of the places you mentioned I only have experience with http://www.1stsubaruparts.com. They certainly do have a way to find the part you are looking for. It doesn't tell you the part # but it tells them what you want, via the internet, neat. Try this: Parts Illustration Just dig around a little more, you can find what you want, although it's not the easiest website to navigate. Good luck. -
$320 doesn't sound bad. What exactly are you getting for $320?
