    Winter fun!

Im jealous that your turbowagon runs! I need to get off my butt and finish mine.
  2. Id just focus on what the code is when the CEL is on. What you are saying might make a lot of sense once you know what the code is.
  3. Thats pretty normal to be able to push the car in gear like that in an Automatic.
  4. I think it might pass since its not required to have a Catalyst they will sniff and check the gas cap and that should be enough.
  5. Parts arrived yesterday! Just gotta clean and build the heads and install them for the next step in the project.
  6. Ive done biz with CvAxles and don't really have anything bad to say about them but I would rather do business with a guy I know locally who runs this company: http://www.ccrengines.com/mwe/
  7. He posted pics on USMB gallery here: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showgallery.php?ppuser=7438&cat=500
  8. When tearing down the engine dont use an impact wrench to pull the head or case bolts. On the turbo block people pull the threads on these all the time. You might be able to borrow a wrist pin puller from an Autoparts store. New rings are going to be worth it especially with the years of oil buildup in the old grooves. $1.80 a gallon for regular but youre supposed to run Premium in the turbo models.
  9. I don't see any problem with using it. I would trust 1stsubaruparts.com over a parts store computer any day.
  10. They usually look pretty good. Very popular here in Denver where 5280' closer to the sun helps em crack faster.
  11. Clogged filter? Is there more fluid in the differential than there should be...Ie...exchanging fluids? Vac lines messed up so its not getting a vac signal at the right time so it doesnt know to shift? Hey is that my old 83 GL 2wd coupe? The white one??
  12. The most accurate way to check the level is to run the car with the brake applied and run thru all of the gears and then return to Park or Neutral. Leave the car at idle and check the level while its running.
  13. Did you replace the inner and outer wheel bearings?
  14. I think you should take a dremel or engraver or something and make a notch in the remaining plastic so you can turn it with a screwdriver. Punching it into the radiator isn't the best idea.
  15. You need the caliper bracket as well. As for model year clarification its 83 and later wagons and Brats that were 4wd and 84 and up all.
  16. Wish I was out there too. We can do that here though, might just have to.
  17. It was very tempting. It need some touchup coating in spots where the blue shows thru but otherwise the daylight version isn't bad at all. The little beast just got me thru the worst winter storm I have ever driven thru. I drove thru a blizzard from Lincoln Nebraska to Denver. I was in Lincoln at 11 and just got home at 12:18AM. 4wd was engaged all but 10 minutes of that 12 hour period (time zone). Interstate 80 was closed at one spot so I had to divert south to Kansas and take I-70 into Denver. Anybody that knows the midwest would know how much that sucked.
  18. Yeah, will do that in the next couple days. Too many clouds and 18 degrees outside here at my folks shop in Iowa.
  19. New paintjob is spray paint called "hammered" by Rustoleum. It has an orange peel look to it which Mick will find funny but its actually supposed to look that way for a change. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=3023
  20. Something about the emblem looks painted to me but I dont see why.
  21. That looks like a good use for 13" wagon wheel rims after a lift!
  22. Warm fuzzies on Turkey day, how great! Everybody here makes it very worthwhile. I got a cool email the other day from a user that emailed me and said they used to hate their Subaru but then they came on here and saw how much everybody on USMB loves them and how helpful you all are....well they stuck with it and are now working on restoring the little beast. Things like that and going to a meet and having a bunch of cool old Subaru's show up really makes it feel worth it. I have made alot of friends on here and for that I am very thankful. One in perticular has been instrumental in helping me keep my Subaru's on the road and we were able to do a lot of business without exchanging cash which is really nice. Another knew of problems I was having in my personal "non Subaru" life and got me thru it. Another helped me move into my house having never met me before. Another helped me find employment and I am still the happiest guy on earth most days just cuz of where I work. Another went out with me and I can't get her out of my mind. This "cult" is a strong bunch for sure. Remember theres a fine line between hobby and mental illness. Don't become too addicted to USMB and if you do, just keep it to a healthy 10-12 hours per day ok? You know who you are (all 100 of you!). Thanks!!!
