Those are sweet looking, great score! -
Its the warm up period. It started doing that because the temps got cooler.

Probably the gasket itself leaking, or its possible. Also, but not as likely the lines above the timing belt covers are leaking down thru.

2nd in line to see pics.

Welcome! So glad you found us! Soon you will be having thoughts of your Loyale being 3-6" taller and having swampers on it! :-P Check out the off road forum!

They probably used the wrong color wobble socket or have lost feeling in their arms. Most tire company computers come up at 90 Foot pounds for a Subaru but its wrong. Dont bring all professionals into this, these are techs that are underpaid, overworked and arent trained properly. Then they are given improper numbers to work from. When I deal with sears and most other large tire shops I take the rims to their center and leave the car at home on jackstands.

If it already runs and drives as is then pulling the TCU shouldnt do anything.

I am very tired of changing front axel shafts
ShawnW replied to gonehuntn's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I had a couple GCK's that were clicky right out of the box and won't be going back. One that they tried to replace them with one that had the band clamps halfway slid off the end of the boot and not lined up even. I'm still not a big fan of Autozone. Last parts guy asked me "now really what year is your Brat cuz I can't look up things for 3 different years of car just cuz you think our computer sucks" This was for my 86 Brat with an 87 Ea82 dual range, 91 turbo rear diff, 88 XT6 alt......LOL. If I have to buy from them I bring in the part numbers from their poorly designed website. Ill go with used or MWE Axles from now on. -

Problem: Cheap boots that rub the pleats together almost all the time. Solution 1: If you can find a car with 80K or less on it and original untorn axles buy the used axles as they will last longer than reman store bought ones. Solution 2: Genuine Subaru Boots or an aftermarket company that I cant remember the name of. -
So you got the plug and clips out okay but you cant get the pins to pull out? Try an auto parts store with a tool rental and see if they have a wrist pin puller.

Does a VLSD match the 3.9 Gen II Brat rear axles?

Sounds like maybe your catalyst is going bad. If you have another exhaust system around bolt it on, if you dont disconnect the exhaust at the flange behind catalyst #1 and see if the bog has gone away. 2nd cat usually goes long before the 1st one...if it ever fails other than rusting. -
Sweet, that sounds great. Got pictures?

Does the speedometer work? Any leaks or fluid loss? Gaining fluid in the front differential?

My new project, Air Cooled Vanagon to Subaru EJ22 Conversion
ShawnW replied to ShawnW's topic in Subaru Transplants
For me its the transmission issue that stops me from putting a performance type engine in. The VW 4 speed trans is used to under 90 HP and I dont think I want to risk putting the 250 HP challenge to it. Im going to put a 153HP ej22 in it and I think thats way plenty. Putting a turbo Subaru engine in would be bad as the turbocharger would be right next to the clutch slave cylinder...im not really into losing my clutch while climbing in the Rocky Mountains. Fuel economy is also a concern these days with gas being 2 bucks a gallon for regular unleaded. And yes, the Ej22 is also being used because of cost. I can go to the Junkyard and get any general intake or wiring type part for next to nothing but finding an SVX or turbo impreza/legacy in the junkyard around here isn't easy. -

I doubt that you can swap in any of them except maybe an 85-86 turbo one. Try contacting Roo Builders thru the link below. He sells fully rebuilt disty's for these. RooBuilders
