  1. I think its kindof neat looking! Good luck!
  2. You cant divide this forum new/old gen because it covers putting an ej22 into a Brat for example. At the same time it covers putting an ea81T into an 82 Brat too. But the idea is to meld experts and have them share the forum. Yes, old gen guys will see alot of WRX engines into Legacies or Imprezas possibly but there really isn't a way to create a forum like this without that. The people that read this forum will learn from others and find themselves answering questions that they probably wouldn't have read in the Newer or Older Gen forums cuz they dont read those.
  3. Accel cable for the carb one still on and the length isnt right for FI?
  4. Does the car look more like: Legacy or Loyale

  6. This forum is for discussion of using Subaru engines or transmissions in vehicles that weren't built by Subaru. This includes: Subaru Engine in Gyrocopters. Subaru Engine in Volkswagen Bug, or bus (for vanagons please see the vanagon forum) Subaru powered Hovercraft. Subaru powered Trikes or Motorcycles. Thanks!
  7. I know the guy that runs this business, nice guy and builds some outstanding axles. http://www.ccrengines.com/mwe/
  8. Last week I bought a 1981 VW Vanagon Westfalia. It is air cooled. It will get converted to run a 1990-94 Subaru Legacy engine. Today I bought the intake, wiring harness, ecu and airbox to install into the Van. Tomorrow I will probably order the parts from Kennedy (http://www.kennedyeng.com). I hope to have the Van rolling by Thanksgiving weekend. Photos of the van to come.
  9. 316k on the 80 4wd wagon I am driving now. Orig trans, 1600 is rebuilt but lasted up to 50k ago.
  10. Did you use the Intake? If so did you reuse the thermostat? Stuck closed?
  11. Tip: Find TDC by using a compression tester. Pull all 4 plugs, insert tester to #1 and turn crank pulley bolt till the compression needle moves.
  12. Put wagon wheels on it to give it a true Sleeper Subaru look.
  13. Please skim this search result. This topic has been discussed numerous times. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/search.php?searchid=31795
  14. When that happened to me it was the distributor cap and rotor. Try popping the rotor off and seeing if the contacts are bad. If you want to try a different distributor I can point you to a yard that had a Gen1 Brat this past Saturday.
  15. Its not supposed to void it. Stay on their good side by buying Genuine filters and using the oil recommended for the temperature and type of driving you do. Also get the drain plug ring washers from the dealer as all others dont keep the car from leaking at the plug.
  16. Thats going to look really good! Wheel locks might be in order!
  17. Can you forward me the problem that comes up when you try? ARe you on 56k or faster internet than that?
  18. We Found some snow! http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=2481 Magnolia Road turnoff, right around 7600 feet getting a geocache and the photo op' seemed too easy to pass up. The road up to here is STEEP and the 1600 really had to work to get up here but it did. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=2483
  19. Was the tuneup being done to fix problems you were having or as routine maintance. No, relieving the pressure and then hooking everything back up wouldnt cause this. However, putting the fuel lines on backwards might, or if they are kinked somewhere it would too.
  20. Ed, those are too nice for this car. Ill bust out the SOS pads and some black paint one day and make these look 1/2 as good as those but 5 bucks out of pocket. I hope somebody that is restoring a car buys those thats what they belong on.
  21. Vanagon Westfalia (camper) is what Im looking for. I havent followed up with the one in Boulder but I thought it wasn't a camper. Ill have to re-read my PM's. Im going to do an EJ22 swap. It requires stuff from KEP (Kennedy engine products) as well as a wiring harness conversion. Ill rebuild the engine before installing it. The Ej22 I am building will be 148 HP and the original engines in the vanagons are 1.9 and 2.1L engines that put out 81 and 90 HP respectively. I drove one setup like this the other day and it drove extremely well and pushed the 4000 pound bus around like it wasn't any big deal.
  22. My Turbowagon is sitting in the garage waiting for me to get off my duff and get it finished. I ran into a snag with replacing the brake master cylinder and with a custom axle that wouldnt clear the steering and got frustrated with it. Thanks for the comments on the 80 Wagon. I like driving it alot, the little EA71 really puts out alot for its weight. The wagon is coming along nicely with some additions I found at the yard today and after waxing it the cosmic blue paint actually was pretty again. The sun has REALLY done a number to this car but im going to give it a go at looking pretty again with some paint and creativity. Somehow I found a pretty worn out but nice WOOD shifter knob that was an accessory in 1980. I also found a couple of slanted radio boxes and will cobble them together to have a radio in the car again.
