  1. Yes, they are mounted like the ea82s pretty much.
  2. The 84 FSM will cover this model well. I will sell a March 83 Edition FSM along with the wiring diagrams and troubleshooting supplement book for an 84 model year if you wish. Id like $45 for both books.
  3. Yes, ironically more than 3 candidates exist. 1 SVX, 1 turbo legacy wagon and multiple legacy turbo sedans. The wagon would be the most dog friendly but the least sporty.
  4. You would have to coat it rather often to keep the rust out. If the rust goes any further than the surface to a point where you cant hone it out you are going to have a block not worth using. I recommend pulling the engine and doing both gaskets at the same time and putting the head back on temporarily until you are able to seal it properly. The oil suggestion is very good but it won't last weeks.
  5. Which one would you buy and why? I have a 70 pound dog that occasionally would ride in the car and wondered if all SVX's have leather interior.
  6. Valve covers leak a lot more oil than you think. As does the oil pan which likely needs replaced if the Valve Covers need it. Also check your oil pump seals and the oil pressure sending unit threads. You can stop oil leaks on an ea81 for under $25 in parts.
  7. Dont forget the engine crossmember and to keep the front sway bar and control arms that correspond to the transmission you are going to use on the converted car. Fuel pump and gas tank are also concerns to consider. The instrument clusters and their sending units are also different.
  8. The Legacy radios come in 2 forms. One is 1.5 din and the other is 1 din high. If yours is 1.5 then you need to go to a salvage yard and find a 1 din high cubby and bracket set to put the aftermarket radio in.
  9. That clip is not the release bearing clip. I will try to verify tomorrow what it is called. PM me just in case I forget.
  10. Jerry, Thats your old Brat. 199600 miles and going up for sale but I don't think you want it cuz I didn't fix the dents and the memories. Shawn
  11. Custom axles would be required.
  12. Im glad everybody came it was fun. Loved the dust cloud we made at the lot too. *coughs a cloud of dust*
  13. Hahahahhaa thats hilarious. Im about ready!
  14. Honestly I don't see the point in not splitting the case. The number of additional parts needed is extremely minimal, the oil pan gasket and pickup tube o-ring on these engines is almost always in need of replacement, and installation of the rings will be easier with the case halves laying upright on a bench where you can tap them downward and really see what you are doing.
  15. Good to see you aboard.
  16. Does your Hazards or Horn work? On an 84 They are on the same circuit (as are many other years) and if they both dont work check that fuse in your fusebox.
  17. Cool, congratulations! Bringing it to the meet on Saturday? 12:00 at Red Rocks west of Denver.
  18. Ill be there in my 86 Brat.
  19. Alternator interchanges if its an internally regulated VR one, so 82 and up model years should be ok on an ea82. Not sure on the relay location on a Loyale.
  20. Good try! Thats not terminal though and those Datsun trucks are practically extinct in the salt belt but in the "clean" states they seem to be all over.
  21. This is one of the best tools for preventing air pockets. http://www.sjdiscounttools.com/lis-22150.html
  22. Is your turbocharger kicking in? Light come on too early?
  23. I would love a water jet cut adapter plate too.
  24. No surprise that they treated you good, they are awesome guys.
  25. Qman's set sold already? If not thats the deal of the month.
