  1. You didn't get the xt6 down there did you?
  2. I believe you are right on the fuel tank and the alternator diagnosis.
  3. You have the right location for the thermostat. Ea81 vehicles did not have overflows as Original equipment but a lot of people have added a little tank to catch what the radiator will push out the overflow hose.
  4. No bill yet but we all should chip in to the guy that pulled all the cars out with his tractor. Im out a prybar too. Somebody left it behind during the recovery effort. Zanny didn't make arrangements with the Ford truck guys to get Joy's sweatshirt back either so I am out that too. And the dent in my tailgate. Oh well I would say we got off lucky.
  5. This can be really nasty. I had this happen on my 87 Brat I used to have. Ultimately the solution was to heat and beat the drum until the edge crumbled and then reach in with a prybar/screwdriver and break all the clips so the shoes wouldnt pressure the drum anymore. Another thing I tried in this situation that helped a little is you can pound the wheel studs into the brake drum. Its a tight squeeze but you can get 2 of them to pop into the inner area and then use a pick tool to fish the brake parts around thru the stud holes.
  6. Convert to discs is the normal solution around here. Those adjusters are terrible especially on cars in the salt belt. I have the brake adjust wrench and will probably be selling it since I dont have a drum brake car anymore.
  7. I believe its an 84 or newer ea81 Hitachi carb.
  8. Sorry about that Morgan I thought I had replied. Thanks Mick. Side note, 3 new pics just uploaded to the album of my mud cleanup. Filled an entire bobcat bucket with the mud and at least 1/2 of it fell off on the trailer and didn't make it to the mud. http://usmb.net/gallery/Midwest-2/DSC00043 is the first picture and another after that. The 3rd pic is my jumpseats that I didn't show off at the meet cuz I was going to at the Pizza place we never made it to.
  9. I had some aftermarket tie rod ends that would hit the inside edges of my wheels and do the same thing but that was on an ea81 86 hatchback. If that isn't it you might have to stick some gen1 wheels on just to eliminate the spacers. Sorry to even say this.
  10. Subaru is part of Fuji Heavy Industries from Japan. Google it.
  11. Its STEEL belted so cutting it with a Tin snips isn't going to be good. I would recommend not using a tire at all or using an older Tubed tire.
  12. Nice to see some representation! Thats a great ultimatesubaru.org decal.
  13. Theres an OEM one. Head for the junkyards and peek under cars that look like your front end and you are bound to find one. Alot of them were removed because they are kindof a pita to change the oil with for some people.
  14. Miles can you and Zanny arrange to get the sweatshirt back? Having them stick it in Chef Tim's hatch would work as I need to get my prybar somehow too. Otherwise you could have them ship it back to my house 419A 5th St Coralville IA 52241.
  15. Find a GL that has power windows and it will have a taller center console. These are a nice improvement. Cupholders? People use those 99 cent ones at the quickie mart or if you are drinking out of a pop can slip it thru the side of the ebrake handle or 4wd handle and the pass seat. Its actually pretty secure if you keep an eye on it you won't spill.
  16. Use a 6 point 22MM wrench or a true oxygen sensor socket. Look for a high quality socket as the cheap ones expand and the solid ones hold their grip.
  17. Are you running an 02 Sensor? Sorry for the strange question but I always thought that running without it would give you very similar problems. It runs without feedback from 02 sensor on most cars for about 2 min and then the sensor leans/enrichens the mixture based on the temp and 02 sensors.
