  1. Every Soob in this picture except Mick's Brat is currently stuck. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/80s/mick/gallery/mw2pics/PDC_0048.JPG I have a 3.90 VLSD in my Brat. My tires are only 185/70 Mud/Snow street tires. No lift. I was doing okay and was leading the group but when everyone stopped because somebody got stuck things went sour fast. Loss of forward momentum and then a rainstorm followed by another rainstorm made it impossible to get out or get help to us. Nothing to snatch block to except each other and that wasnt helping either. Even farmers with Cat Diesel tractors that have rubber tank treads would not venture out on this road. Until a farmer thinks he won't get stuck trying to get us out we are all going to have our vehicles stuck out there.
  2. Also if anybody finds a shovel out there please put it in my Brat so I can return it to its owner.
  3. People that remain in Monona County: Syrinx and his daughter, Miles Fox, Matt and Zanny Dook, Redlance-his life partner and children, and the owner of the Legacy GT-Matt. 11 People if I am counting right. Vehicles stuck on the road: ChefTim's hatch Kurts Brat My Brat Matt's Legacy Eyesore SubieMech85 RedLance's Van (Chevy) 1 of the Ford Trucks owned by a local trying to help The only vehicle the people left behind have is an XT6 that Redlance owns. All of these people are now staying at Loess Hills Hideaway. They do not have cell signal out there and they don't have any sort of phone either. Kurt has a cell phone but it was dead last I knew. Weather forecast shows no sign of rain until Thursday. It is supposed to be VERY windy and at least 1 really sunny day this week so the hope is the road will dry some and make recovery by shovel and drive out possible but that is left to be seen. Contributions to the cause for towing/road repair will be extremely well received and we thank you all in advance. I would estimate that between 25-50 percent of the stuck vehicles will not be able to make the full drive to their owners home once recovered from the road. I hope Kurt's brat will make it at least to Micks in Des Moines or my house in Iowa City/Coralville. UPDATE: If you would like to send $ for recovery efforts, road repair fund, etc please email me, IM me, etc and I will get you a mailing address.
  4. Im going to lock this post and create a new one for "recovery" details so everybody can keep up with the situation.
  5. DaveV: I don't know how we are going to come up with the money or handle it yet but it all depends on how much it is too. EVERYONE: If anybody sees or talks to Kurt before I do, I have his clean shoes here in Iowa City. :-\ Kurt's cell phone was completely dead I believe.
  6. Lets also not forget Vickaroo was amazing getting out under her own power too along with 88XT6Joe and Dave Valiant but Micks was amazing in my mind cuz he tried to rescue people, managed to pile all kinds of crap in the vehicle and the Brat sounded TERRIBLE driving all the way home. Fuel pump kept shutting down and stalling out and we got good at stopping and getting it going and getting on the road again. Everyone involved really has pulled together very well just gotta get thru the rest of this week and see what unfolds.
  7. I am home but my Brat is not. I am not absolutely sure my Brat will be at my home residence ever again. With plans to move to Denver and my family being 2 hours away the thought is to tilt trailer it the 2 hours to my folks Bobcat dealership and hopefully fix it someday. Only God knows how much damage the vehicle will suffer in being drug out of the mud. We have the possibility of HUGE trouble here as the county may bill us for the damage to the road. No word on that. Along with the prospect of an ungodly amount of money that it may cost to retrieve the vehicles. After we all got stuck I decided to hitch a ride back to Joy's parents house with my parents and stay the night there and drive her Honda CRV back to have a vehicle to drive all the stuck people around in and try to make a plan. At this point the plan is to wait for the weather and the farmers to align with one another and pray for an inexpensive way out of the Gumbo road for our Vehicles. This will go down as the most memorable Subaru event IN HISTORY. A BIG CONGRATULATIONS TO MCBRAT FOR GETTING HOME UNDER HIS OWN POWER. LSD got him home this time the right front and left rear axles are both destroyed along with the transmission. The awards for the meet were never presented. I am hoping to make some for everyone. Im also hoping to talk Mick into making additional decals to add to the existing ones for those of us that "suffered" thru this meet. A SURVIVOR sticker to add will probably be just the ticket. I was having a very nice time with everyone until the disaster unfolded and thank everyone for coming and congratulate all of you that made it home.
  8. Its not a matter of what its worth, its a Brat! If you want one and its exactly what you want then its probably worth $5000. If you are less choosy then shop around in the PNW for one with no rust and build it the way you want it.
  9. I TT Syrinx tonight, he was in need of directions to the campground. In case anybody else needs them: Take 183 (Like north out of Pisgah or south from (moorhead?))like you are going to the park. There will be a blue highway sign indicating Loess Hills Hideaway. The sign and turn are about 1/2-1 mile South of the turn to Preparation canyon state park.
  10. there will be no shortage of mud on the dirt roads this weekend thats 4 sure. Lets hope it doesnt rain all day. Show and shine isnt that fun in the rain.
  11. It has always been rumored to be available in Europe and AUstralia but I don't know if anybody has actually imported one before. Please keep us posted if you have any luck.
  12. U will need a set of decals like I have Mick making me for my wagon. Mine will say TURBO GL, Original OUTBACK.
  13. 2wd 5spd would be fun and inexpensive. Downside being the clutch size.
  14. You have a competing set of eyes for that prize. Ill let you know when #2 shows its head.
  15. Oh and dont forget tools to disconnect the battery cables.
  16. Cool! I hope he gets a USMB account. (The brother too.)
  17. I did it in a different post. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=14973 Calling for rain now. But rain or shine its on!
  18. Mainly you need a couple different ways to turn a 12MM bolt along with the small (8mm?) nut on the back of the alternator. Something to pry up on the alternator to get a good pressure on the belts is also advisable...if you are strong you can hold it in place without prying but I like to hold it with a bar, feel the belt, and then have a free hand to tighten the adjuster bolts with.
  19. I moved your post. It was OT and you even indicated it was. Why is it not favortism? I am busy and didn't notice the H2 post. Being busy does not indicate favortism. Midwest 2 is Saturday and I am focusing on getting my Brat ready for the meet along with doing all of the last minute organizing. There is no debate as to whether or not we would like to have an OT around here. In fact as was posted before, it is in testing right now. Why testing? Because we want to make sure that the problems we had before do not return. We need to feel like it isn't going to be abused. How can you prevent delays in its return? Well dont post in the wrong forum and don't deliberately break rules for posting. Want to participate in the testing? Donate. If you have further comments on favortism or the OT forum please post in forum help and comments.
