  1. Sure is hard to beat factory original paint when you can find the replacement panels. Nice job on the car!
  2. Do you have a writeup thread for the Forester Compass setup install?
  3. ShawnW replied to Idasho's topic in Members Rides
Take the driveshaft from the car and have it lengthened. Getting the center carrier bearing in the old 84 style body is usually hard to get dialed in right. I just measure the 4spd trans and the 5spd trans and have them put the difference in length into the driveshaft. I am sure the length is also posted here too.
  4. Everybody makes a mistake occasionally.
  5. Hey you got everything working! Nice to see you the other day. I will keep an eye out for a bargain but I bet you will find one faster than I do.
  6. Are you saying the steering wheel points the wrong way now? That's pretty easy to fix if it is. Just move the wheel itself. I pull the nut, pull the wheel, lightly thread the wheel nut back on and test drive it (CAREFULLY!!!!!). Drive straight and then pull over and move the wheel where you think it would be straight then drive again to verify.
  7. Nice find! Going to paint it?
  8. The speed and wind resistance is going to come into play here...Ie, hauling something at 25MPh is a lot less than freeway speed. Don't turn your Subaru into a sailboat.
  9. Moved the topic over here for better exposure.
  10. You have an email. I can't believe I have all these around.
  11. I totally understand not liking a guy winning because he didnt build it but rather he bought it. At the same time, what a testimonial to the shops that did work on it. Maybe even a sponsor of the show that worked on it. A little reward for them wouldn't hurt anybody.
  12. Its not the hole above the right rear tire?
  13. Ive got one in the shop doing a head gasket. I had done a few engine rebuilds in the past both at CCR and the dealer before but never any work IN the car. Im pretty pleased with how much room there is to work. This one won't idle at all-falls flat to 0 if you let off the gas.
  14. Yes, longer on the ea82 axle.
  15. I hope yours don't vibrate. I recommend drilling the hubs instead of the wheels.
  16. The Ea81 gauges are pretty easy. I would replace just the gas meter part if I knew the miles on the odometer were correct and everything else works on the existing gauge. I would also heed advice on the sending unit too, quite often see the sender bad and not often see the gauge.
  17. They don't want to refund your money? Are they willing to exchange the rack for another? Pay labor to replace? (not common).
  18. Yes, comes with the hardware usually. Everything you need should still be there unless it broke someplace strange.
  19. Crossbred Performance Kit! Allows for modern Subaru wheels and brakes on your old Subaru. Love the kit. I even did the brake booster and master cylinder. Its the safest option, it stops awesome, and it gives you a rear e brake. Make engine adapters!
  20. It was designed by a pair of designers from Toyota. The trans is Toyota. The rear end probably is too but I haven't checked. Parts of the fuel injection system are Toyota. Its his car, let him call it what he wants. Its a joint venture and being upset that people aren't calling it a Subaru is silly. Its like saying you are only your Mothers genetic makeup. What makes us great is the genes of both of our parents just like the car in this case.
  21. If he's right that is Phil, known on most forums as KingBobDole.
